Transformers Devastation (Platinum Games) - First gameplay from IGN

If there's one thing Platinum hasn't done before, it's a move where you turn into a truck during a mid air combo to ram the enemy.

All my mid-combo truck transformation dreams just came true.

looks really good, all the people hating on the trailer are hopefully eating a healthy dose of crow right now

also if someone wants to add some gifs that'd be cool

I think this looks like a lot of fun, it seems to be close to Bayonetta with the dodges and 'Robo Time' or something. Looking forward to seeing more of the game over time and I hope there are tons of unlocks that make you wanna just replay the game over and over to unlock and master it (like Bayonetta, which I am still replaying from time to time).

So I take it you haven't seen those spectacle scenes he is talking about? Cause they're pretty amazing.

I wasn't a big fan of W101, but I will not deny that the spectacle of it all was pretty goddamn amazing.

Yo that looks fun as hell. Vehicle mode looks like it functions like an expanded beast within, and there's even witch time (3:32 in video). Korra is still fun as hell despite being set in barren wastelands, and this looks to be the same.

I may be that guy but I dont like the fact that my G1 transformers are brawling each other in close combat.

G1 was all about shooting and beam rifles :(

One of the first few episodes has Megatron and Optimus fighting close combat at a power dam. "All about" is inaccurate at best.

Yeah, I couldn't really get into the combat, but seeing just how over the top the game gets made it worth playing for me. It has one of the best finales in any game ever.

I was praying to my favorite deity during the last 5 hours of W101 for the game to fucking end already. Button mashing QTEs don't really amuse me, especially given how abundant they were in the game (or the drawing ones for that matter). The megazord thing wasn't that interesting either.

All Vanquish had to do was extend your AR bar in the last two minutes of the game, and still managed to be 20 times more hype.

Looks pretty stupid to have giant ass robots running around like Bayonetta. There's no sense of weight at all, which is something High Moon completely nailed.

This really isn't what I want from a Transformers game.

Yup they had more than shoot outs. The problem I have is that they were never amazing combo chaining fighters like we see in this game. Bumblebee couldn't get a 50-hit combo on Megatron and Optimus wouldn't dare take on Devastator in a fist fight.

Despite that, Platinum have themselves a winner here. It just looks fun. The way they've worked the car mode into a run cycle is great, and it even has gameplay reasons like charging up your attack. I was worried transformation would only be a mid-combo animation but you really get to drive around. I want to see more.

I like the high moon games but... this game doesn't even try to be that.

5 characters with only one of them being a non-car. A bit disappointing. Seems like the car characters might be really similar in fighting style, all transforming to a car for combo finishers. It looks good other than the possible similarities between most of the playable characters.

Eh, that looked pretty awesome. Bring it Platinum!

Yeah, you probably want to replay Armada.

"Weapons are mapped to the d-pad, and you can have any four items equipped at one time, as long as at least one of them is melee and one is ranged. Prime’s ion blaster made short work of Decepticon jet seekers as they flew by overhead, while ground-based soldiers are easy targets for my energy axe. Platinum plans to include around 150 distinct weapons in the game, including everything from Wheeljack’s wrenches to sniper rifles, homing missiles, and weapons that fire slowing gel."

"I saw a turret sequence in which Optimus Prime took down gathering waves of Insecticons, much like certain old-school arcade games."

"Teleporting back into the city, I’m treated to one last action sequence to play, in which Megatron is fleeing while crouched in the back of the Constructicon Long Haul’s dump-truck bed. The running chase scene has me dodging blasts from Megatron’s fusion cannon as I race to catch up to him. After knocking out Long Haul, I continue to pursue Megatron after he has transformed into a massive silver tank with its turret pointed back at me. The fight ends as I finally catch up and tackle the Decepticon leader."

Great news :D

Now we need Stan Bush with the touch and it just can't get better than that!

Day One

Game needs a Revengeance level soundtrack, but all 80's synth. Something like The Protomen level stuff.

Well, this will probably be my GOTY. It's definitely my game of E3. I'm not even the biggest P* fan but they have won my heart today. This is gloriously ridiculous.

I hope I can do this;
