Metroid Prime Federation Force Announced (Next Level, 3DS, 4 Player, Mission Based)

No, because "The eventual game that might get made" sounds very much like a response to the response. It's not quite as direct as Capcom saying "Buy this remaster or we won't make a sequel" but it's on the same level.
"This is the beginning of a new trilogy" or something like that. But after today I don't think we are getting anything past this game so...

On /v/, there used to be entire threads dedicated to a hypothetical game involving Federation Troopers while retaining what made Metroid Prime good. There were some brilliant ideas discussed there. This is nothing like what they came up with. I think if it resembled Metroid Prime more in style and atmosphere, and was announced alongside any confirmation of a mainline Metroid Prime, there wouldn't be as much backlash.

So, we're all angry over a spinoff game because...? Really, it doesn't look nearly as bad as people are making it out to be.

Seriously, would you guys rather have another Other M?

Because people don't want chibi-fied Metroid games? They don't want a bland looking spin-off after 5 years of dormancy? Because it doesn't resemble anything Metroid is known for IN THE SLIGHTEST bit?

I want another Metroid game to be confirmed in development. Not wishy washy heresay + some random spinoff game.. When Nintendo's audience is shrinking I don't know why they aren't being transparent at all...

At least Other M had Samus in it. This is nothing like Metroid

Other M tried to do Metroid right. It failed on nearly every level imaginable, but at least it tried. This looks like it was Project S.P.A.C.E.G.U.Y. until two weeks ago.

It would be hilarious if Ninty nixed a MP4 after this ridiculous response. "Well fuck it then! You don't want Metroid? You won't get it."

Looks fine to me. I like the game personally. If I had a 3DS and if it has online, I'd pick it up.

I would take Other M 2 over this definitely. You're comparing a big budget full scale Metroid game to a spin-off.

They're still planning the Sylux game? Wow. I thought that would never come about... Sylux was the best character in Hunters. He was the only one they gave a ship other than Samus and he showed up in the bonus ending of MP3. He won a poll asking fans who they wanted to see star in a Metroid spinoff.

Reads interview.

This is also the first concrete confirmation that the ship that chases Samus at the end of MP3 was Sylux'. I mean, we didn't really need it because the ship looks almost the same as the one in Hunters, but some people refused to accept that.

On the one hand, that Sylux news was fantastic. On the other? I know Sakamoto was largely responsible for Super Metroid, but over half of what made Other M reviled can be tied to/has been blamed on him, so regardless of him being able to make the game like Super Metroid, I fear his name might hurt the project overall.

Other M was made on the Wii, it was one of the better games I played on it. The way Samus moves and dodges and jumps, and does karate kicks is way better done than in any other Metroid game.

I would only show how disconnected Nintendo is from their fanbase.

Sakamoto is back? :(
It's possible Sakamoto might learn from Other M. The fact that they may be making a 2d game might mean they understand what fans want. Only took the 100 metroidvania indie games for them to get the hint..

Oh woe is we

Sakamoto

the guy behind metroid, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission is doing another 2d metroid.

Garbage day 1 confirmed.

ONe can only hope for the best.

But after today, I think that interview is damage control. Like they have nothing.

This actually looks fun as fuck. Alright, I'm on board.

Yep, this is the perfect online multiplayer shooter when you want something fun in under 20 minutes.

Belive me, Next Level Games know how to make a great co-op game for both the casual and hardcore gamer.

Well since the only Metroid game he made in the past 10 years is a total failure, it's not unreasonable.

Yah I guess it sounded like more "wish/may be in development" then "it's in development", so Nintendo doesn't really know what to do with Metroid yet again?

The only metroid game he's made, which isn't a 2d metroid, without his team, focusing on something he even admits he never thinks about.

And ignoring that all the other games he's been a major part of that aren't metroid have been successes.

Yeah, he's lost his touch.

totally and completely

Can't make another metroidvania, despite being the creator of the genre.

Despite there being an even larger gap between Super Metroid and Fusion/Zero Mission and yet all of those games still have sequence breaking.

Yeah, exactly. He can't do it anymore. Not to mention he completely bastardized the narrative.

Technically, this game has Samus. The decoy looks like her.

Also, I'm not very impressed by the treehouse footage. As a first-person shooter, this really doesn't look like it offers much interesting stuff; the only variation in playstyle came from the power-up chosen before a mission. It's certainly not like Monster Hunter (I have no clue why people made that comparison).

Just because his other games are successful it doesn't mean he has what it takes to make a successful Metroid. Creator of a genre, yet Other M didn't follow that train of thought.

Come on, the movement, weapons, strafing and lock-on system from Prime are all there. It's very clearly inspired by Metroid.

Another Other M would have been much better than this. Yeah, I enjoyed Other M to some extent.
