Metal Gear Solid V E3 2015 Trailer

Really? He seemed like he was at least 30 in MGS3, I'd wager 32. Which suggests he would be 52. I suppose it's not that far off. How do we know exactly?

Still seems ridiculous he'd be mid-70s or even 80 in MGS4. Ridiculous that he'd live that long.

In Peace Walker they explicitly said he was 39 and that took place 10 years prior to TPP.

That trailer didnt really sell me that well. I still havent finished Ground Zeroes yet :/ I have no idea what the story is about or what is really going on.

So, now that we know Miller is blind, we need to search MG2 and MGS to find any sentence he says indicating that he can see, so we can scream "Retcon!"

.

I entirely get why fans are excited for TPP. I want to be...but GZ narratively just didn't grip me and there's just a lot of variables at play here.

I played MGS 1-4, missed PW and I just felt the GZ didn't make an effort to give me an intial hook in to the story and from everything I've seen TPP is even more broad and epic in scope. Epic is great! But I just feel it's a party going on and I don't know anyone whose invited me or what the party is despite trying.

Its weird too as usually I love complex, deep tales and this kind of almost spaghetti western backdrop is right down my alley.

So i think the shrapnel becomes more horn like as you kill more. That's my theory, anyway. It will probably affect the difficulty of the psychomantis fight too.

That would be very cool. Reminds me of Fable and Knights of the Old Republic.

Key thing here is that you missed peace Walker. MGS isn't as complicated as people think but it is a long running franchise and hence there's a requirement that you play certain games in the series to fill gaps in your knowledge.

I recommend watching peace Walker on youtube if you don't want to play it.

MGS5 is the most excited I've been for an mgs plot since MGS2 purely because of how crazy and thematic it seems to be.

Are you forgetting the parts where he gets basically rebuilt into a cyborg two times after Metal Gear?

I am. I haven't actually played Metal Gear or Metal Gear 2, even though I know the gist of what goes on in them. I've obviously really missed some key stuff.

I've got the MGS HD Collection so I'll be playing through MG1 and MG2 on MGS3 before TPP drops.

I mean, you're right though.

Big Boss is (basically) dead in between MG2 and MGS4.

In the US, immigrants have historically assimilated and consider themselves American.

I honestly don't think it's quite as cut and dried as that. It's not like immigrants completely shed their cultural identity when they move to US, however much a certain subsection of Americans would like that.

It's all explained in MGS4, actually.

They don't shed their cultural identity but they still assimilate. Which is different from multiculturalism, where there is a lack of assimilation.

I read some stuff people wrote about MGS4 recently and... I'm pretty sure I blanked 99% of that game's story out. The highlights just weren't worth the narrative troughs.

I barely remember any of the last hour. I remember seeing Big Boss and thinking "for christ's sake. For christ's sake" because it was just another fucking name drop, just another reference, seemingly for reference's sake. Even though I know his appearance was actually pretty well written and quite poignant, I just didn't care by that point.

I remember playing MGS 4 and once the Submarine sparring was over . I thought the game was over . Boy was I wrong . 90mins of Cutscene left.

It was fucking ridiculous and I don't know how anyone could defend it.

I really want to reply MGS4 before TPP but seriously after Act 2 I think I'll just have to turn it off. The massive install size didn't help either.

Seen this before and it is great.

But Snake doesn't die anyway, right? Doesn't he survive or his gun misfires or something ridiculous? 'Sake man.

Snake doesn't die in MGS4, but considering the bad shape he was in by the ending and how there almost certainly won't be another MGS game starring Solid Snake, he might as well be dead.

I think he might actually be dead by the time MGR happens. They kind of skirt around it in some of the dialogue.

The final conversation after the credits suggests that he's a dead man walking anyway.

Its a great game , just quite ridiculous.

I'm currently editing my final MGSV megatrailer, as I've done for the past two E3's. It's a recut of all MGSV footage in what I believe to be chronological order with annotations explaining my decisions, and it's going to be over an hour long, and probably two hours depending on how long the gameplay demonstration in the next couple days is.

In the meantime, do we have any working theories about how
Paz could still be alive?
It's the only scene in any of the trailers I can't place at all. Other than that, the plot actually seems pretty straight-forward.

What the hell was the point in him not dying?

For god's sake, the entirety of MGS4 just reeks of creative misdirection and poor decision making. I love Kojima and I believe he's immensely talented, but it's like he didn't want to commit to any one style, or genre, or storyline, so he just fudged the whole experience.

TPP is shaping up much better from what we already know re game structure, game design and story.

I'm still not completely sold on this game. Kojima is such a great writer and whatnot but I just don't get the appeal of this too much. Hopefully once I see more gameplay demos my views on this will change.

In rising they mention snake in the past tense. He is dead. In the japanese version of rising you can get a sword with the ghost of snake infused.

I liked 4 , there are just some scenes that dragged on way too long , if you plan on watching the cutscenes , BRING LOTS OF POPCORN.

This is perfect!

I agree, if the game would have ended at the credits most everyone that is now an MGS4 hater would have loved it but that one scene is so bad it ruined the whole game for a lot of people.

NOT NEARLY as BAD as Mass Effect 3.

I don't know what else you wanna see in the gameplay. We've seen quite a bit.

Yup. My immediate impression watching the trailer was "He's describing Canada, isn't he?" which is kind of odd.

Hopefully this is leading up to Canada turning out to secretly having been Outer Heaven all along.

NANOMACHINES SON.

Always wanted to use that.

Cloning seems to be the most fan favorite theory so far.

Possibly it could be
clones/sisters/other 'paz' agents who all look the same

Other than that, who knows.

Look forward to it immensely!

And no. She could be part of Les Enfants Terribles, perhaps a pilot test for the cloning tech. Or she could just be a hallucination, but it looks like others can see her, too. Or it might not be Paz.

In truth, I still liked it, too. Especially the gameplay over the longer Acts 1 and 2. What a masterpiece
if we only look at gameplay

I'd put my money on cloning.

Edit: aww shit what if it's a Rei situation from NGE?

I think that was really a WTF moment in the trailer . Its a pity that those that didn't play Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes will not experience any shock value.

Well the game hinted pretty strongly that snake was going to die no matter what he did. Just because Kojima didn't make him blast himself in front of everybody doesn't mean he isn't dead. People have a weird fascination for having to see everything these days.
