Xbox One BC Screenshots: Share Yours!

The best part of all this is the next time someone says a current game gen looks like ass and could be mistaken for an early 360 title, the hyperbole can be put to rest with one screencap.

lol yup. I was gonna post some Kameo screens, but they hurt my eyes

I just want to know how they managed to achieve this. Is it pure software emulation? Or are they running natively on the hardware with no emulation? I thought the current gen consoles used different architectures to last gen?

By far the best announcement from E3.

Ok, everyone that added me a friend up until now has now been requested to be in the preview program.

I'm up to date with everyone.

If you messaged me but didnt add me, then add me as its teh easiest way to do this. :)

Is there a general idea when the invite goes through? I noticed others you added got it, but I am still waiting for mine.

Thanks again!

EDIT: Just got it. Woo!

How does this even work? Do you put in the game and the XBOx One will detect it? When I put in Mass Effect, nothing happened on the dashboard and the system didn't detect anything was inside.

If you are in the preview... it should switch to INSTALL... it will then download the game and you can play as long as the disc is still in the drive.

Again.. you must be in the Xbox Preview Program.

Ok thanks. I'll mess around with it. I thought it was in the Preview Program, but in all honesty I'm not sure.

Is there any image quality improvements? Up scaling or smoothing?

Also curious to know whether if its improves frame rate. Especially in games that had terrible tearing or FPS drops.

No according to a guy I spoke to at E3 that directly worked on BC. It will run exactly as it did on the 360, and that's precisely what should be expected of a feature previously believed to be impossible.

Very impressive. Haven't seen it specified elsewhere, how are they being emulated?

I didn't quite get it all, but it was explained to me that everything is being done or compiled in advance in an effort to avoid having to emulate specific functions on the fly as they come. It's pretty tough to explain honestly.

But it is something along those lines.

They loaded the Xbox 360 OS into the Xbox One and "trick" it to think it's running on a real Xbox 360 console. Then they just adapt the games for the emulator and tweak its settings depending on the game.

That's what I understood from Spencer's interview for Giant Bomb.

Would love to hear the story of how backwards-compatibility was achieved directly from dev team who cracked it. Bet it was such a fist-pump moment for them making what was thought impossible, possible.

Anyone know how to get Hexic HD on XB1? I have it on my 360 but it doesn't show up in my 'Ready to Install' list on XB1.

If it's not showing up there, you can go to the Friends app, and search my gamertag: Mr Greencastle, under find someone. From there you can compare games or go to top games and find Hexic HD under my list. You should be able to download it from the store page. Kinda confusing to find and explain but it's a workaround.

Make sure you do own it, though, it should be free: http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-ca/Product/Hexic-HD/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584107d1

Does suspend/resume work with back compat titles?

Yes it does, though multiplayer games will kick you back to the menu/lobby if you're in a game. Otherwise, it works as you'd expect. With Mass Effect, I turned the Xbox off while on the Normandy and when I turned the Xbox back on it was still there without having to load the game again. Every Xbox One feature works with the backwards compatibility.

Can someone explain the uprezz benefit of BC thru XBO?

I thought the Xbox 360 already upscaled games to 1080p using its own scaler?
Why are people excited that the XBO upscales it to 1080p? they could do that on the 360 anyway?

Care to clarify?

I believe they are actually running a xbox 360 on your xbox one
which is why the xbox 360 start screen shows up
