Final Fantasy 7 Remake Announced (First on PS4)

Yeah, I see a lot of people say that I think because of the new generation at that point. I was like 8 then and I was new to gaming still.
Nothing wrong with that at all, it just pisses me off when I commonly see people write off FF7's legendary status as only having come from stories such as yours.

"People only like FF7, because it was their first RPG", etc.

Fuck that.

100 Things you didn't know about FF7

This is always a fun watch for those who haven't seen.
Glad I didn't have anything planned for the next hour.

Fujin and Raijin were created for FFVII, but they were scrapped when the development team realized that the Turks made them sort of redundant. I'd love to see their original, pre-FFVIII concept art.

Oh wow, and they ended up using them later for VIII. That's pretty damn cool and interesting I would love to find out more.

And another thing I wouldn't mind but isn't really a must. I know the menu is going to be changed dramatically but I wouldn't mind it being color customizable like in the original.

Guys, who's stronger between Zack and Cloud?

In Crises Core it seems like Cloud is such a noob, but in Advent Children Cloud seems God tier?

Very long time since I played the games or watched film, so I'm rusty on the story.

Let's not forget that he went through the whole of FFVII and we were tagging along, watching him get more experience and gain strength. After Cloud found his memories and confidence he grew stronger and stronger. So that's what happened between CC and AC. Plus AC isn't immediately after FFVII, so there's that time to refine his skills and become legend. (2 years IIRC)

And I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned them, I am so hyped to see the Turks again!
And to a lesser extent, Biggs, Wedge and Jesse...;_;

I hate that shit because there are plenty of games that I enjoyed as a child that I do not enjoy at all now.

A good game is a good game.

Yeah, that's a load of bullshit. VII was a genuinely great game with lovable characters.
I feel like people who say that were never fans of VII to begin with and uses ass pulls like that to knock it down a peg.

Some really subtle things I just now caught in the trailed is how they made it a specific point to show the Mako's greenish glow in the girls eyes and the fact that the angel statue reflected in the puddle only has one wing visible.

Well played.

Yeah, I remember my first time replaying it, some time around 2005. It was like going back to a good childhood book or movie. Stuff you really loved can be pretty bad as an adult (e.g., The Neverending Story movie, yuck), or still great (e.g., The Neverending Story book, nice!). 7 was definitely the latter. Was surprised how well the experience held up given the dated and uneven presentation.

My body is ready for the remake.

I really Hope they don't leave a thing out. I mean, add to the experience, flush out the universe, connect the EU content a bit, add some new places and things to do... but don't leave anything out!

Don't forget the mini games, don't forgo the goofy scenes, and don't change the world into an action RPG.

I cannot wait for the Summons. I cannot wait for Fort Condor. I cannot wait to see Weapon (Ultima, Diamond, Ruby etc). I cannot wait for Junon. I cannot wait for Bizzaro and Safer. I cannot wait to get to Kalm. I cannot wait for Omnislash. I cannot wait for Cosmo Canyon. I can't wait to race out of midgar. I can't wait for the New OST. I can't wait to see the Turks. I can't wait to get to Gold Saucer. I can't wait to use the Giant Matreria bomb. I can't wait to see Dyne. I can't wait to get to the Ancient Temple and the City.

Sorry.

Enough said I cannot wait for this. It is very hard not to think about it. Every two hours my mind sparks up another memory from the game I can't help but wonder. The wait is going to kill me.

You're not alone, I too keep thinking of things from memory and how it will look.
The scene with the turks saying who they like was funny.

VII withstands the test of time in everything but its graphics IMO. The ATB system can be adapted to a more cinematic ATB: press attack and watch said character run and jump through the landscape to attack the enemy, parry or block or dodge on the way to them, make special animations for critical strikes, meanwhile you've moved onto the next character whose gauge filled and are assigning them an action, and all members of the party are running around the battlefield via customizable AI either dodging or trying to position themselves. Enough automated action so that you don't have to micromanage every step they take, but still given full control over their combat maneuvers with the original ATB system in tact.

That's my ideal wish anyway. It will probably be an ARPG.

Does anyone think this would give incentive to go back to other ps1 FF's like VIII and IX for square?

You mean remake them? Nomura specifically said he doesnt really want to, he talked about wanting to do V and VI.

Remaking the PS1 games is a huge project and only 7 is really worth the money and resources.

I think the graphics have a certain charm to them. They don't look particularly amazing, but from an odd stylistic perspective I'm gonna kinda miss the blocky characters.

The remake will definitely have a cohesive artstyle, unlike the sudden shifts from blocky overworld characters, to battle models, and to CG models.

Even the CG models weren't consistent. :P

You still have CG scenes using blocky models, like when Cloud jumps on the train at the beginning.

I would expect V or VI, first.

By time it comes around for VIII and IX's turn, Square will probably have gone completely mobile.

I believe a recent interview had Nomura indicating he'd rather see the SNES titles that haven't gotten a remake yet get one, rather than the remaining PSX games.

So, do you guys think they'll include any new WEAPONs? I vaguely remember reading all kinds of rumours about hidden ones back in the day, and think it would be cool if the remake did add a couple more as optional superbosses. Maybe they could somehow work Ruby and Emerald into the story as mandatory bosses (for example, you could run into Emerald while trying to retrieve the Key to the Ancients or the Huge Materia that ends up at the bottom of the ocean) and have a couple of previously unrevealed WEAPONs take their place as the optional, semi-hidden killing machines. That way, they stay true to the original while putting a fresh spin on things for the longtime fans.

There are no unused WEAPONs in the cut content info but maybe they would add some. Wouldn't count on it, though.

The rumours back in the day were so stupid lol. "Cheese WEAPON"

They should just add Omega Weapon from Dirge of Cerberus as a superboss, kill it in FFVIIr so Dirge won't happen.

The funny thing about this is that it was posted in 2010.

I'd expect to see this circa 2000 or so, but five years ago? lol.

Best part:

That's just a repost! The original is pre-2004 or so hosted on geocities sites or whatever. I can remember laughing about it with people in highschool.

I need CG promotional art of this plx.

Who did this art?

I think they'll include GILGAMESH.

Apparently its being Funded by Sony, That being said The HD port was also Sony exclusive excluding PC.
Which leads me to believe Sony must have some kind of deal regarding FFVII in general on consoles.
okay cool, awesome. I think that is good news.
she is a mod here and has some connections in SE
okay, thanks.
Sony doesn't see PC as a competitor, they're funding SFV and that is also coming to PC.
if that were entirely true, we'd see more 1st party games show up to PC (obviously not) plus sony would've acknowledged the PC demand for bloodborne more accordingly.

leaving the slums, her desire to see the sky, and the whole world. the highwind represents all her dreams and the life she should have had and never will.

;_;
Don't cry. I have a GameShark. We can bring her back and she can ride the skies.

1-2 million, first week. 2-3 million, first month. Over 10 million lifetime.

Probably a bit overoptimistic.

That seems pretty accurate. Witcher 3 sold 4 million in its first month, and no doubt this game will sell more unless something disastrous happens.

Of course it's launching on 1 platform instead of 3, but it should do 2-3 million on PS4 pretty easily in week 1 (remember there could be 40 million PS4s in the wild by the time this releases), and likely another 1-2 million on PC at launch there. Depending how far apart the releases are, I'd say 6 million year 1 isn't unreasonable. 10 million lifetime shouldn't really be a stretch either.

While now, I recognize Dirge as not that great of a game, I fucking loved it when I was younger. And I remember the story being fairly decent too.
