If CyberConnect really is working on the remake, can someone create a gif or something from this clip to feature Tifa and Scarlet (the shut up button)?

I'm hoping if it gets passed around a lot the team will end up putting it in the game, if they haven't already.

I need this to be in the game. Badly. It would be so cool.

Huh? Cloud was a quiet guy but he wasn't mopey or depressed.

Plus Cloud isn't even that much like Zack in VII. He has his confidence and habits but he's far more snark and uncaring.

Cloud literally took on Zack's persona in FFVII even Aeris said he was exactly like Zack.

No idea where this originated but I would pay obscene amounts of money for it. Just make that the classic gray anniversary system and controller

No. Aeris said he resembled him but that was due to his eyes, uniform and habits.

Aeris points out later that she knows he's different and wants to get to know the real side of him he's hiding.

You just have to compare both characters to see their attitudes are nothing alike.

he didnt, aerith says he kinda acted like him, but that he was different, and cloud acted more like a cocky douche rather than how Zack was, what cloud took was kinda his idea of who Zack was, he didnt completely take over his personality, even his memories are more of what he heared from Zack and he himself saw, while putting himself in Zacks place

What I'm wondering, is if FF7's original English localization is even accurate in representing Cloud's character as it was in the original Japanese?

I don't know anything about the original Japanese script, but is it possible some of Cloud's characteristics we think of as having "changed" from FF7 to Advent Children were derived from possible inaccuracies in the original English localization?

I dunno. All I know is that I'm playing it for like the 6th time right now, and I'm still having trouble parsing meaning out of a lot of the dialogue. I really hope they are going through with a retranslation for the upscaled PS4 port.

Yeah, the translation is so bad, I don't really think I know who these characters are. I might get the gist, but I'm not positive I do.

I'm happy and sad.

Happy because so many of you grew up with FFVII; its your first one. Now you're getting potentially, a masterpiece class remake.

Sad, because I didn't start with VII, I started with VI. Maybe one day :-(

Nomura's comments this week gave me hope, not to mention Verendus said a VI Remake is going to happen... he just didn't specify in what capacity.

Believe!

From what I've heard the only heavily mistranslated character was Barret.

even tough some people are concerned about how the remake will differ from the original....im pretty relaxed knowing that nojima, kitase and especially nomura are the key people for it

Especially Nomura who sticks to his philosphy, unless others who try everything to please the fans and make everything perfect
(even in the last interview he said, that while nojima and kitase are worried about changes he takes it easy)

im really excited about an FF7 under Tetsuya Nomura :`)

Guys, who's stronger between Zack and Cloud?

In Crises Core it seems like Cloud is such a noob, but in Advent Children Cloud seems God tier?

Very long time since I played the games or watched film, so I'm rusty on the story.

Zack in FFVII is nothing like the Zack in CC as it was a game made after the fact, not during.

Did she say he was exactly like Zack or that he reminded her of Zack, who was also Soldier 1st class?

I don't remember her saying that he acted like Zack.

Ah so he only took on some of his traits but not his entire personality. I haven't played FFVII in years so my memory is a little cloudy. ;)

But wasn't Cloud depressed that wasn't good enough to become a Soldier 1st class?

I don't think we really know. I mean.. Cloud defeated Sephiroth twice before Advent Children (though the first time was a fluke). The fights in Advent Children also seemed so over-the-top, even compared to the original game, that it is hard for me to compare. Zack was an actual SOLDIER. He seems less lean and more muscular than Cloud. Otherwise IDK.
this image just captures everything about her so well. it's easily my favourite out of so many

She never even got to ride it...

There is something that has always bothered me about Clouds portrayal in games after VII. Cloud begins 7 as sort of a oddball, cocky, rude, but he's got a sense of humor. Through character development he becomes a somber character but he gets over that.

Post 7 he just seems so sad all the freaking time.

Personally I blame Kingdom Hearts. In KH Cloud somehow adopted the personality of Squall, and the style of Vincent and he has been this way ever since. People now think of Cloud as this stick in the mud and Squall as this cool guy that hangs out with Yuffie and Aeris.

I don't normally buy special editions for games or consoles but absolutely would for this game not even funny. In a heart beat would buy a limited edition console, special edition game, collector's edition and a standard version. This is a Long time coming ill pay for it. Want that FFIX remake to be funded somehow lol.

To be fair, Squall is more represented how he would have been after the end of VIII while cloud is brought in as a mixture of Vincent and himself having issues with Sephiroth.

I kind of think that's why it's such a nice shot.

I need CG promotional art of this plx.

I convinced my parents to finally pull the trigger on an internet connection when seven was being promoted just so I could keep up with the game. I think the Aeris looking at Highwind picture was the first thing I saw. Blew my mind after VI's sprites. Ah, memories....

Crisis Core is a prequel, Advent Children is a sequel. That should explain it.

Zack dies young and Cloud goes on to become much, much more powerful.

Cloud's personality in VII is an odd mix of who he always wanted to be and false memories taken from his experiences with Zack. IIRC there's some Ultimania info floating around about how the mako poisoning and Jenova cells messed with his personality and memory, to the point that Tifa described him as "not remembering things he should and remembering things he shouldn't", which lends credence to the fact that the Jenova cells not only rearranged his memories, but put in new ones.

The real Cloud emerges after he recovers from his sickness, and he's not necessarily the same naive kid he was in Crisis Core anymore because of the life he's led since then, but his memory isn't screwed at that point anymore either. Post-FFVII he falls into depression and his personality changes yet again, which is what we see in AC and - to the dismay of many - in Dissidia. I doubt he'll be like his Dissidia/AC self in FFVII-R, though. Dissidia was playing off of the most recent appearance of Cloud at the time, and its sequel followed through with it. CC came after the first game and portrayed Cloud differently, so there's evidence SE will go with the "Vanilla Cloud" personality in the remake and not try to shoehorn in his AC persona.

So...do you guys think there is any chance this has already been in development, or will it be like the Kingdom Hearts 3 thing where two years from now we get a "now in development" update? Square is bizarre in how they announce games (the Japanese ones anyway) waaaay early.

I would normally just assume that FF7 is on the usual Square timeline and will be out in 2019 or something, and even then I'd still be happy it is getting made at all. But the 20th anniversary of FF7 is coming up in 2017 and I do have the slightest hope the remake has had maybe 6 months to a year of work done on it already and will make it in time for the anniversary.

And if this questions has already been answered, I apologize. I took Monday off work to watch the press conferences but have been busy ever since that fun day and haven't been able to closely follow any updates.

If the point of this remake is to rekindle the Japanese console scene, they are going to want this out asap, which is why they're likely outsourcing it at least partially to cc2. Sony would be wise to have funding partially dependent on a 2017 release or something close to it.

i remember getting a copy of VII and it was my first JRPG ever and I went through the booklet and the promo images blew me away. Then I played it and I was so done, FF was my go to JRPG series ever since and got me into the genre as a whole.

This story is so common that I almost feel like I'm in the minority, having played FF7 after already being familiar with the genre.

Not overly familiar, mind you, Super Mario RPG just a year before it was the first RPG I ever actually got to the end of. :P (Because it's the easiest game ever)

I feel it would be a no brainer to get a behind the scenes documentary DVD on VII and the process of making it. I want some rare art to go along with the new release as well.

Yeah, I see a lot of people say that I think because of the new generation at that point. I was like 8 then and I was new to gaming still.

Fujin and Raijin were created for FFVII, but they were scrapped when the development team realized that the Turks made them sort of redundant. I'd love to see their original, pre-FFVIII concept art.
