Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I've beaten the excellent SP and have hit level 20, I have all the guns clothes I want and so all that is left is ranked

Ranked kind of annoys me because I'm stuck in C+ and have been since it launched, it feels too random with team mates being sometimes good, sometimes awful, and no matter how good you are if one of the guys in your team ends up with 1 kill and 9 deaths you're going to lose, plus sometimes you end up in a team with 2 chargers or another combination that stacks the odds against you

Also I'd say in any given hour or so I'll have at least one disconnect, and the fact you lose 10 points for this means that even with the random nature of ranked, even when I have a better than 50% win rate, the disconnect points I drop ensures I can't ever break out and tap that sweet, sweet B- territory

It makes the wins all the more satisfying though, and it's a great game, but I think I might drop it until the big update as right now it's more frustrating than anything

My Wii U says i've put 31 hours into the game, which I'm happy with, and I'm sure that'll get even higher when the update comes out, but right now I kind of feel like I've hit a wall with the game

Try out new weapons, try to maximize the abilities of each subweapon and special, explore the maps more and find less obvious paths, set up your gear differently, there's various things to do that will also improve your skills at the same time.

Splat Zones/Ranked feels like gambling at a casino or something. Yesterday I had the most frustrating losing streak from A to A- to B+. STOPPED. Got on again late last night and struggled to get out of B+ but managed to push back to A-. Today I'm going to try to return to A. I will say that I think I improved in Ranked after my struggles yesterday. I've finally let go of Splattershot Jr. for Zones because that gun just hasn't been cutting it for me in Zones It gets zoned out by pretty much everything. So now I'm mainly using Tentatek with 44 damage (1 shot to the weakest training dummy) and some other goodies.

Ranked is always a gamble with the way people are randomly grouped. In normal match, at least you can score big even if your team lose.

Ultimately, I see Ranked A only shows you how lucky you are and how long you have played.

Honestly, if you want to go up in ranked.
Find the weapon that (for you) requires the least amount of teamwork to succeed with
E-litre for example is a bad idea.

For me that would be the .96 gal.
My matches with it end in 15-20 kills and 0-3 deaths.

Yeah I use the .96 gal and can rack up a lot of kills and capture/recapture the splat zones, but when my team mates are awful its not really much help, it's also why I don't like the levels with 2 splat zones as much, it's even harder to keep and hold two points on the map by yourself, if you're pretty good you can generally storm in and kill the other team and start to capture the area alone, but when you have 2 zones on the map you're forever playing catch up

I'd just like to see something like, maybe the top 2 players on the losing team lose less points, that way even when the writing is on the wall, your team will have some incentive to fight to be the best player on the losing team, so they lose less points, and it will mean being a good player will give you a better chance of going up in rank in general

If I play 4 matches, win 1, lose 2 where I'm the best player, and then have a disconnect, I'll lose - 18 points, when - 18 in that situation isn't a fair reflection of how I have performed over those games

Nintendo asked me to fill a questionnaire about Splatoon online where, among other things, they asked about Amiibos and their use in the game.
When they contact you, do not pass the opportunity to let them know what you think.

Ranked is all about finding the maps you are good on and not playing the ones you are not good on. For example I've decided not to play the Mall map, since all the weapons I'm good with don't seem to be very useful on that map.
The second thing is to use my tactic - when on a winning streak always enter the next game with only a few seconds left on the timer. This will ensure your enemies in the match are not based on your new rank but rather the old one you had. So if you want to keep yourself in a room with players who are lower ranked than you as you continue your win streak. I had a lot of success with this.
The third thing is map awareness - the more aware you are of what is going on the map the easier it is to avoid ambushes, take objectives.
Don't overexert unless it's the final 20 seconds and you are losing. Not dying is far more important in Ranked than getting a zone or getting a kill. Being able to zone out the opponent is key.

Here's another way to think about it. If you're racking up a lot of kills, it means the other team has a bunch of "awful" players as well. If everyone is on their team is "good" then you shouldn't be killing so easily.

Don't worry, i'll tell them how much i love their Amiibo.
No /s

I'm finding in my ranked matches I often have really high numbers of kills and deaths. Like one of my matches yesterday I went 12-11. I guess I just love being in the middle of the action

this is all good advice and basically why I'm in B rank right now

I've definitely found that the most important person on any given team isn't who has the most kills, it's who died the least amount of times

once I understood that I started dominating

Re-rolled this shirt and got 2 attack ups again ugh

That "new" grey shirt is a one given during splatfest right?

Can you see sisters song performance in the game? Or it was just a promotional stuff?

They perform up on a stage in the plaza throughout Splatfest. As for the one that was like a music video shown in the direct that's not in the game as far as I know

Splatoon popularity crashed and burned this week on Twitch. Hope they can get back up to their former levels with the Splatfest this weekend and the new level tonight. Was really cool seeing this game embraced by a different sort of gaming culture.

Thanks, I submitted my vote (team dog), when is Splatfest available to play? I wish somekind of time counter in game for those events.

That's not Splatoon's fault at all. This week was E3 week. All communities wane a bit in the face of E3 hype and coverage.
