Batman: Arkham Knight - Review Thread

The Joker is dead but I hope there's still a sequence where the Batmobile loses a wheel and a villain gets away.

I didn't find it on PS4. It still has a countdown. I double checked the store, library, restored licenses, and then looked to see if it was downloading in the background. Nothing was pre-loading.

I guess not, reading around it seems pre-loading generally doesn't start until the Sunday before release for PS4 games.

will like to see how the new joker look like in this game

looks like the batmobile didnt add much to the game quality...

I prefer Mario Kart and Arcade racers to sim racers. If the handling/physics is fast, loose and forgiving, I probably won't dislike it too much. If running over enemies is easy and plentiful, I may even enjoy it.

It is the furthest thing from a sim racer you can get. No worries.

I have many questions. 1. How big is the map? 2. Did they take and build on Origin's detective mode/crime scene investigation? 3. How would you judge the voice acting and writing so far?

The map is big. Way bigger than AC, but not just wider, also really tall. You will have to link together multiple grapples to get to the highest point.

You can tell that they definitely did not forget about Origins when it comes to the detective mode. They take what worked and expand upon it.

The voice acting is serviceable. It is on par with AC. (from what I have heard so far)

Thanks man.

can we get some more gifs in here? games looks stunning, I guess the framerate issues early on have been ironed out completely

Just preordered through PSN.

If I had known the premium edition was $90 ($10 off) I would have gotten it.. Fuck it though.

Preorder theme is hideous btw

Sounds like the batmobile combat. You constantly fight the same drone tanks over and over (one of the reviews claims one section has you taking on 40-50 of them). The game does eventually introduce a new tank unit but those are even worst because you have to use "car stealth" to sneak behind to the rear weak point -- if you are spotted it pretty much one shots you. Also the Fire Fly chases are terrible.

WHAT

What the fuck were they thinking.

If the map is bigger, both vertically and horizontally, my question is is there actually content to make it worthwhile? AO was 2 to 3x bigger than AC, but had like a quarter of the content. One of my few complaints with AO.

I usually find myself agreeing with K. Van Ord than most reviewers, I'm holding my buy until a sale.

I have the feeling some reviewers are over selling this game, not because some secret agenda... just because it is a flashy sellable concept most likely will be popular.

Can't really answer that fairly now. Since I'm still only a couple hours into it. But yeah, it seems to have as much stuff spread throughout the city like in AC. Also there is tons of easters eggs/nods to characters and locations from the comics. Also, the riddler stuff is SO FREAKING GOOD this time around and also spread out across the world. I have done some really cool puzzles so far.

Getting this game almost entirely because of the graphics.

Ahhh...Okay? lol.

Well shit, that's some heavy skepticism.

I should say day 1. I'm sure it's great, but I haven't played City yet. The graphics however are making this a day 1 purchase for me.

Let's not jump to conclusions just yet. Game does look incredible.. but we have to *play* it first instead of looking at animated GIFs.. Kapesh?

The fact that batman run at a consistent framerate makes it a better achievement. How can The Witcher 3 be impressive when it's running at 20 FPS on the same hardware?

Spring Loaded, I thought you liked the Batmobile. What happened?

I knew it was going to suck. Oh well. Still playing it. I'm sure the rest of the game more than makes up for it.

WHAT

What the fuck were they thinking.

That is what people have been trying to say about the Batmobile. It's not just that they forced the Batmobile sections to justify its existence. The encounters you actually have with drones, ends up being tedious (from what all the reviews say).

So pair off tedious battles w/forced use, I can see it becoming a problem quick. Sadly :(
