Batman: Arkham Knight - Review Thread

viveks86 actually brought up a good point, that it might ONLY make sense, if you do the side stuff. Like from a story perspective, the cut scene/story element only might make sense AFTER you take care of all the other side stuff in the world.

So they couldn't have shown you that in the main story, as it wouldn't make sense if you still hadn't taken care of the other things. That's a great point.

Yeah, I'd bet that that is the case.

I imagine that this is kinda like an extra bonus/easter egg type deal, where maybe you'll understand Riddler's perspective a bit better and get some context on what happened at the end of Arkham Knight.

Sounds like Kotaku is discussing a quick after credit scene that probably plays very little into the overall narrative. I think people need to chill.

For the record, I don't think this is an "issue" or anything worth controversy. Was just saying why I don't like that kind of design. That said, I think you are right, we shouldn't be making huge assumptions without actually knowing what the cut scene is, what the campaign ending is, and just the overall execution of it.

So fair points.

Also, if it's just a little side easter egg, and isn't like a chunk of the ending missing, then I won't mind. Kotaku said "full ending", and made me think they took an actual chunk of the ending out, and sectioned it off behind this 100% thing. Guess I read too much into "full". My apologies.

I have two friends who completed the game, one's had it for almost 5 days and got 100%, one did no side stuff at all.

I asked them, without spoiling the ending for me, if they could clarify it. They were both satisfied with the ending and the completionist said it wasn't nearly as essential as Kotaku made it sound, it's basically an alternate/tagged on ending.

That's all I know since I didn't want to be spoiled but they made it sound insignificant.
Cool. Thanks!

Ah thank you! I don't know why they said "full ending". Then again, my fault for making assumptions.

Thank you for taking the time to ask your friends.

Right? Saying "full ending" makes it sound like a significant amount of content.

Well at least to me, it sounds like they sectioned off a chunk from the actual ending. That's what I think when I hear "full" ending. I guess to be fair, people are so subjective when it comes to extra content, especially story stuff.

But when I hear full content, I think something a lot more substantial. And my issue more then anything, was I feared that it actually took directly from the main ending. That said, this is why you shouldn't ever make assumptions.

You could say that the Catwoman DLC from Arkham City was the full ending too but it wasn't really vital to the plot of the game. I wager it's like that. It's a nice touch that adds to the existing story and expands the plot in a small but meaningful way that adds more to the overall lore. But it's like you say. It's probably better to wait till we know more.

[X] New Nvidia Batman drivers installed
[X] Nvidia code redeemed
[X] Game Preloaded

Can't say I'm hyped but it's exciting to be a part of the zeitgeist. There's no chance I would have paid even a significantly reduced price for this game but free is free.

I want to see what the hype is about :-)

Can I explore in relatively peace the islands just as an open world game, or am I forced through puzzles missions etc to unlock progress?

Side missions are doled out as you progress the main story. So although you're free to explore the whole place from the off, you won't find all that much except random thugs, tanks and riddler puzzles.

Saying that, although you can fly to all the islands early, the bridges are blocked off until you complete story events, so you can't get your Batmobile into certain places until particular parts of the story.

Personally I prefer this approach rather than being inundated with loads of icons on the map at once.

Nearly any time there's a 100% ending it's something very minor. I wouldn't expect Rocksteady to go against that.

gah the wait is fucking killing me

Oh great thats a cool way of doing it. I dont need to explore every single place, just dont want to get blocked by a puzzle and just never come back to the game.

*sigh* I knew amazon would mess up my ps4 limited edition order. Why do I keep using them? I feel like canceling and just getting the black bundle from target tomorrow.

So, how correct is SteamDB when it comes to release times?
