I would say so. Unless they want to have a big blowout shortly before the game comes out, they don't have too many dates to reveal new characters left and out of those, only EVO and the Capcom Cup Final are fighting game events.

Unless they switch up one of them, that's 4 grapplers on a 16 character roster.
that is 1/4 the roster. Although some will argue that Alex and Birdie are barely grapplers.
Well, they probably make 2.5 actual grapplers put together.

Aside from the number of wrestlers, there isn't anything particularly outrageous about this roster. It's probably fake, but I wouldn't be too surprised if it were legit.

Since there's cross-play with PC, I think the chances of a Sony character are low.
TGS, Gamescom, SDCC, Playstation Experience and maybe Paris Games Week where Sony will actually have a conference are the other dates, yeah. But they'll definitely have reveals at their fighting game events, too.
They would have to add a more realistic character to the mix, it wouldn't be kratos. Someone like delsin makes more sense. That being said I doubt that they will add any special Sony characters.

also lemme just say that if this list is true, besides R Mika, I like this list. If their idea is to be fan-service-y even at the cost of having so much different story branches in the game (even though they claim to be cracking down on the story) then this list is a success. It touches on a lot of different fan bases. People who maybe familiar with only SF2 cast with Dhaslim, Zangief, Ken, Ryu, Chun, Bison. People who were fans of the Alpha series with Charlie, Birdie, R Mika (ugh), Karin. Alex who is a highly beloved character and a hype-man in SF3 competitively. Weirdos who were fans of Urien. and 4 new characters to freshen up the roster. This is a good list if it's main and only goal is to be a fan service.
Also, I more likely see Akuma being one of the first DLC characters.

That roster is kind of light on villainy but maybe 1 or more of the 4 new characters suits up for team badguys. Completely fresh evil blood is needed.

Wait, this leak is giving us 8 characters + 4 brand new characters, which would make a total of 18, not 16. Was the 16 character roster something confirmed, or is that just a rumor?

An evil kung fu master, like Feng Wei or Lan Di, would be a perfect fit.
Never confirmed.
Also the user on SRK said there might be even more characters, so Akuma could still be in.

Ahh, thanks. So that means the 4 grappler thing isn't as big of a percentage then, if this is all true.
Grapplers are the best. Also those four are very different from each other.

I would be pretty happy if this were true. Returning characters are a bit grapler heavy but there's good variety. Would like to see some new characters introduced early followed by returning faces in updates so this would be nice.

That leak is pretty old by now, those plans could've changed or some of those characters could even be DLC.

None of these "leaks" are ever right, but Karin, Q, and Mika have been at the top of every character poll Capcom has held since 2008, with Alex somewhere near the top as well. Now would be a great time to just throw them all into a game together.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I remember Harada being asked if Q was a possibility for Tekken x Street Fighter and he definitively said no, implying that Capcom wouldn't allow him for some reason. Am I remembering wrong? It would be a shame because he definitely should replace Balrog.
Anyway, these leaks are often right actually. SSF4's roster was leaked the week before it was announced. Of course, that was easy to believe because the roster talked about an SK Tae Kwan Do user and the SSF4 unveil showed off Juri.

I'm taking the leak with grain of salts. I'm more of surprised with the fact that we are getting only one Street Fighter 4 representative, along with several grapplers.

The good news about that rumor is that Comic Con and EVO seem to be the next places where we'll hear about new characters, so that rumor can potentially be either confirmed or debunked in just a few weeks.
I agree unless they give them the same treatment Birdie got, then they could be interesting.

Nononono. Sakura needs to be up in this joint, as well as C. Viper and Alex.
Hugo is way different from Zangief and shouldn't replace him at all.
Hugo has weird ass normals, where Zangief normally will have decent buttons, if not really great normals (alpha 2). Hugo is more of a gimmicky guy.
While that leak list has some solid characters on it and I'd be largely happy if that was the starting roster, I don't think it's real.
For starters, it's not that a fourth of the cast is some form of grappler, because that would be fine, not to mention that Birdie and probably Alex are only quasi-grapplers anyway. It's that there's three wrestlers, in a cast of 18. I feel like Capcom would look at the roster draft for that and instantly notice the lack of variety there.
Also, there's Karin. Her entire purpose in the franchise story is to be Sakura's rival. She doesn't care about fighting if Sakura isn't around. I guess her story in V could be that she's looking for Sakura, who shows up in Season 2, but... I dunno. It all feels off.
Hopefully this'll get debunked next month... funnily enough I bet the next reveal will be a returning 3rd Strike character, and that is almost definitely either Urien or Alex. So this leak is likely going to overstay its welcome.

Yep, those two or a completely new character are highly likely, so this list might be here to stay.

If R Mika is in then I'll buy it day 1. She's not my fav or anything, but that butt attack is the best in the series. When you get your ass handed to you by R Mika then you truly felt the SF experience
What? Gief's game centers around tick grab and a devastating AA that is done by simply pressing 3 punches at the same time but Hugo is gimmicky? Did you just start using him in SF4?
Sim and Gief, if included, would get used in the first 2 weeks and never again (by the majority).

Don't forget that Karin hates Shadaloo, she doesn't need Sakura. Not only that, but years have passed since the Alpha days.
Except that we now have V-Skills and V-Triggers that could play up on a lot for the characters.

Although I'm a Dhalsim player, I don't really care if he makes it in the base game, same goes for Zangief. I'd rather just see Haggar tbh - give a few different abilities and it's a nice twist/alt for Zangief players.
Urien and Alex, meh. Neither ever did much for me, but I know Urien especially will have a lot of people peeing their panties. I'd much rather see Q and Twelve, hopefully at least one makes it as DLC.
I'm more excited for new characters tbh, we know all the favourites are coming back as DLC so who cares if they make it in the base game or not. I'm hoping the new characters are as varied as SF4, I'd like to see some new styles of play, at least one Gen-like character with a more unique/difficult to master style.

YES! I'm really excited to hear that Karin and Alex might come back. It's been quite some time. I'd love to see Sakura back, but only if she receives a more mature makeover. Maybe a college uniform (those are a thing in Japan, right?) and long hair.
