Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I consider my net to be pretty slow by modern standards and it's 20-something megabits down and 5-something megabits up.

Then again I live in a city where there's an area that can get 10 gigabits if they really wanted to and had the dough.

30 Mbit download 4 Mbit upload is the best I can do in my area, we don't have fiberglass here unfortunately and everything else is a bit too expensive

Wonder if we will get a new map this week
Had some awesome ranked games last night had a k/d 15-3
Then had a match where my team had the countdown at 66 and the other team was at 12. I take out 2 snipers no one else on my team bothered to attack them. I then hold off the snipers which allowed my team to make a huge comeback and win.

So apparently Callie and Marie once worked the assembly lines in Walleye Warehouse. That's the first "new" thing I've seen in their blurbs detailing stages in a long while.

Y'all are some weaklings. Take chances more often! If you get it, you're the glorious hero. If you don't it makes for some great "Salt" posts. :P

On a related tangent, I'm curious to hear what GAF thinks on these questions:

1. Who do you think synergizes best or most often with yourself?
2. Who do you consider your primary rivals?
3. Finally, who is your demon (as in you get BTFO whenever they're put against you)?
1. Any of these on my team because then I have less to worry about Daboss, SM239( and I forgot who but some of you nominated some of us as the best of gaf and it was like me, sendou, and like Heng who I've never played probably due to time zone differences, and maybe some others I don't remember but these two are definitely on our level if not better), Sendou, and I like playing with violet so I don't die 10 seconds after I killed him or through a wall lol.
2. The same people, that's why I want them on my team.
3.
Azure J, he is just to damn godly with the inkbrush
But probably SM239 kills me the most, probably because I always end up within close range of him and I use the dual squelchers and his splattershot is better in close quarters. There are matches where I got him right back though so it's all good

I am dying for more content here..

Anyone think there are chances these amiibo challenges are released as DLC?

I honestly want Splatoon to do its own thing and I already know how the internet community already feels about Amiibo as "physical DLC", but lately I've been thinking about amiibo from other series giving cool (but subtle) hats/shirts/shoes/a weapon and I'm here thinking that I want it. An inkbrush in the shape of Falchion/Ragnell (Marth/Ike), a 1-Up print shirt, formal gowns/men's blouse with a starry print (Rosalina), a Mega Inker (Megaman), Pac-Man's shoes (makes a bonus wakka-wakka-wakka sfx when running), Yoshi Egg cap (basically a green and white spotted cap), biker gear (Wario), Hero's Cap (Link/Toon Link), etc.

Ah.

I live on the "wrong side" of the city myself. DSL only goes up to 1.5 megabits down here with bad upload. Freaking south side and their gigabit fiber for $65 a month. :X

3. Finally, who is your demon (as in you get BTFO whenever they're put against you)?
1. When I actually remember you're there.... you. Then again, I don't think I do all that much to help
2. Literally anyone with a charger. E-liters in particular. Respect the hell out of anyone who can make that weapon work.
3. Haven't gaffed enough to notice who needs to be feared. But, from yesterday's matches, SM239. Kills so many squidkids that I can't even get settled anywhere.

Since I didn't do this myself:

1. DaBoss is probably my favorite GAF "teammate" overall. Even though there are a number of you in here who have either helped me or gotten really good at being helped by me, there's this weird unspoken understanding that happens when I'm paired with Da. It's gotten to a point where I'm not even actively trying to assist but awesome moments just happen naturally, especially if he's on charger and I'm on brush.

2. Walkman is my primary rival. The only reason for this is because I have made it a goal to be less predictable/more proactive when dealing with him after his critiques on my brush. :P

I'll also mention both BitStyle (as the Vergil to my Dante) and Blak_Status because he's another one that just has to scrap with me when he sees me. :lol

3. SM239 is the demon. Legitimately the one GAF member that has made me put down the game and go read a book (not even joking) due to depression from not being that good. This is in a post "I got lit up by BlueSilver from four continents away" GAF meta. :lol

I don't really do amiibo, and I'm sure there are others so they would lock away weapons from people, unless you mean just an aesthetic change in which case I don't really care.
no worries, once I have better internet I'll just splat you instantly
e: I'm a disappointment
Thanks it would be greatly appreciated

The Luna Blaster is nice. I finally found a secondary after the .52 Gal Deco. It was an easy transition since up-close harass is basically how I was using the Gal. Dropping from A- to B+ to test this weapon and become acclimated was worth it. I was worried about being stuck to one gun because I couldn't figure some of the others*. Getting a quad kill felt so good. I did a super jump in the Arowana alley that turned out to not be safe ater my teammate got killed, but I survived the initial hits before the OHKO power quickly got the enemy. Maybe this + stealth jumping regularly into danger may be a fun viable playstyle.

*I didn't grow up playing shooters so I have terrible long-range aim and manual dexterity. It took me a couple of weeks to finally train myself to not squeeze the right stick and accidentally go into Inkstrike mode in the middle of a firefight.

I will say that the gulf between some A+ players and everyone else is enormous. At A-, I could barely hang and was mediocre at best in lobbies filled with A+ players who would probably be SSS+ if such a thing existed. People were doing stuff I never saw. I ran into a B+ player with a Splattershot that must have rapidly been on his way to A+ 99 because he was ungodly and single-handed winning all the matches for his team. No deaths in most matches and going entirely solo into our territory and wiping us all out. Repeatedly. Even when we saw him coming. His speed, accuracy and ink movement felt like super cheat hacks activated. At one point I waited for a teammate to help take him out; my buddy died instantly and I was taken out a few seconds later in a quick one-sided confrontation. I felt so slow and like I stood 0% chance. I've dealt with all manner of players superior to me as this just felt like something else and far worse. Of course the game felt fit to never team us up... perhaps some match-making algorithm noticed I was the best on my team and he was the clear best on his and kept us apart for "balancing." Maybe it's me, but I feel this happens a lot and may not be coincidence.

SM239 is definitely the best at close combat. His precise maneuvers are excellent so much that he can pretty much negate a splash wall in semi-open spaces. It doesn't help that .52 gal sucks against him because he has defense up gear. I'm not sure how much it affects other close combat weapons too. Good chargers are hard to fight against too, but GAF chargers hasn't been using chargers as often lately and BlueSilver is having too many off days. :P (his burst bombs play is second to no one though). I have to say GAF rooms lately are a bit harder to play as a charger when most people are just all over the map and focusing much less on area control. Also shoutout to Red for his roller play especially since there's very few good ones around.

Aside from that, I do think the weapon you bring has a very significant effect on how you fare against specific people who tend to use particular weapons. I switch around weapons a lot lately and some weapons just don't fare as well with people who are adept at using their preferred weapons. For example, I like Dual Squelchers as a support weapon but it just doesn't work well in a room full of .96 gals and splattershot pros. In a head on fight, your chances of losing is pretty high.

I haven't played any GAF matches, but when I get BTFO it's usually against good chargers who have some decent close range players on their team and goes into defense mode. If they play it smart it's really hard to recapture the center.

I main dual squelchers and I hate it when I see .96 gals at the start of the match. Their range is so close to the DS that it's effectively impossible to outrange them, and they do so much damage per hit.

Yeah I like the dual squelcher because of its versatile playstyle, especially now that I've learned to use it in a supporting role more often if the rest of my teammates have better combat weapons.

Sometimes I have to step up and be super aggressive though, such as one time where the rest of my teammates were all chargers

It's a great weapon for ranked

Nice score Mr Sin.

Ok that record didn't last long.

Theyve been saying that since the game came out. Do they say different things for different regions?

1. No one? I mean I like having the annoying players on my team but I don't think we synergize or anything.

2. Blue stays up all night reviewing the tape on me so that when we face off he knows exactly how I like to start a match and counters it. Stop making me change things up blue!

Heng is exceptionally good so I always have work extra hard when facing him.

3. No one. I like a challenge.

Oh man, I had a ranked battle as DS with all chargers on my team last night. I thought we were done, but we pulled it off somehow.

There's just a set amount of things they say for each stage and I think it's random each time, so it's possible to just not have one of them come up until now.

Heh, I had a ranked battle as a DS will all rollers on my team. We managed to win against a team full of .52s and splattershot pros.

While we're on the topic of who's better in a fight against who here, often times it's close enough between both teams in a GAF room so that you just need to keep giving your team echolocators so even if you're just average yourself, you'll still be on a hawt streak.

That also happened to me last night, except the other team had on Dynamo on it, but the rest of their players were combat focused shooters.

I was actually kinda surprised at how you play specifically just because you are very gung-ho about locking down/controlling areas fast. GAF is mostly about that rush down life with the one or two oddities that actually like playing support or distraction. I can't say there's a right way to this, but just know that I really like playing against you just because it forces me to think about how to break into your area and dispatch you so the rest of the team can get in. :lol

I am pretty close to feeling the same way on weapons that you are too. Even though I've been feeling much better lately after the Salt-ening this past weekend, I still feel like there's a strong barrier I haven't fully broken down when engaging people like SM239 or Walkman when using the brush and I know that it isn't just that I'm poor at engaging them in close quarters. It just feels like a combination of their awareness and my inability to get the actual last hit on them in an attack string always come together in weird ways.

What's more, the moment I switched up to the .52 gal deco I dabbled with on and off, it honestly felt like I went on a rampage with the first "cool down" match resulting in me having something like 11-3 in the end. This would be awesome if this was a pvp focused game or mode, but since I pretty much have to commit to picking off players (I seriously don't know how this weapon is supposed to cover stage grounds adequately), I'll never be able to support.

.52 gal is the best close combat weapon aside from the Blaster which is like on a category of its own. It's definitely my close combat weapon of choice even though I haven't been using it much lately. The problem with the inkbrush it relies too much on the surprise factor, once you lose that surprise you're at a significant disadvantage because someone can just retreat and you have very few options to do a chase down. With guns you can still ink while chasing the person down, with an inkbrush, you have to be stationary while you swipe or you'll be too predictable if you run with your brush. You're often in a disadvantage in corridor-like areas while the central area in the skatepark is like heaven for a inkbrush with so many different areas and elevations to climb in and out of.

Until someone perfects that next-level ninja inkbrush play, it's just not that versatile in terms of combat in my opinion.

1. Who do you think synergizes best or most often with yourself?
2. Who do you consider your primary rivals?
3. Finally, who is your demon (as in you get BTFO whenever they're put against you)?

1. My play style is pretty much focused on getting kills and putting myself in danger with the .52 Gal Deco, so anyone that does a great job on painting, getting the hell away when there's danger (something I can't bring myself to do it most of the times) and manages to be sneaky when in encounters is someone that will be helping my team a lot. Azure J and DaBoss fit this style very well, but I'm specifically mentioning them because they are the ones I play with the most.

2. My main rivals are every good charger and long ranger there is :lol RagnarokX made a mess of me with the Pro when I had the Luna Blaster yesterday, per example. time2krill is a beast with that .96 and always give me trouble. Also, everyone that holds a Dynamo Roller or the Gold variant is already my number one enemy (to get away from lol).

3. The certified demons of the SplatGAF world are, in my experience, Totakeke with the Dynamo, SM239 with pretty much anything and Sendou with a charger (even though I haven't played against him in a while).

SplatGAF is
(tied with KartGAF)
the best GAF :)

Is it possible to link to your stream?

Sure.

If you want, look through and write down times, I'm gonna make some tutorial videos, and I'm looking for really good role play. I think my other great game with incite got captured last night, and of course, you're on a few of them yourself.

On a related tangent, I'm curious to hear what GAF thinks on these questions:

1. Who do you think synergizes best or most often with yourself?
2. Who do you consider your primary rivals?
3. Finally, who is your demon (as in you get BTFO whenever they're put against you)?

1. After last night, when incite and I took on a team of 4, with a man down, I really would like to play with him more. I played with Sendou in the beginning but mostly against, but the few times he was charger and we were together, he had great paths for me.

2. All squiggly named players. Lag is the life force of all shooters, and if I can handle them, I can handle anyone. And brush users; there can be only one. Not really though, we're all ronin.

3. I usually end up trading with everyone, but I like Sendou's movement in general, especially when he's not a charger. BurnBurn(sp?) has the best burst bombs to my face. Love Daboss's tower nade, pretty great move. Really need to play with everyone more.

I want a video of this. I want tips on how to get hi scores.

For sure. Last night I used a .56 gallon and had my best ever kill to death score 15-0 and only scored 1200. I was inking like crazy but kept running into players on their side when I was invading their territory and had to take them out. How do you get scores like 2000?

GAF, I need your best 3-star gear pls. I just saw someone with basically perfect gear (all 3 sub-abilities on each piece of gear were the same). Saw some other guy with 3 Damage Up subs on Fake Contacts (Ink Recovery Up is what has the 5x chance of appearing on that piece of gear).

I think my best piece of gear is my Bike Helmet. Ink Recovery Up as a main ability and 2 Ink Recovery Up and 1 Ink Saver (Main) as sub abilities.
1. Who do you think synergizes best or most often with yourself?
2. Who do you consider your primary rivals?
3. Finally, who is your demon (as in you get BTFO whenever they're put against you)?
1. No one in particular. I do feel like I help out teammates though, at least whenever I can (i.e. bubble, keeping their feet on our color ink/making a path to escape, protect the area if they are super jumping to me). I think Splat Zones would help more with determining this.
2. Someone who can use every weapon well.
3. Poor performing teammates. :p
Sure.

Probably won't watch past broadcasts ever lol. I hate using Twitch's video player, it really sucks. Though if you can highlight moments, that would be cool.

And watching your stream now, I wish I had sound test. ;_;

Play on Kelp Dome using an Aerospray, Splattershot Jr., or Inkbrush.

I hate all of you .96 users it's so hard to get anything better than a double kill with the dual squelchers, and of course they put all of you on the same team

1. When I play Charger Burnburn. But more or less everyone who can help covering the middle. When I play anything else I like to have a good charger on my team like Grakl or Violet.

2. Burnburn

3. I don't really think like that. The better the player the more useful killing them is.
