Persona 5 Trailer 2

Mostly from them deciding to forgo unveiling this trailer(or a trailer of this caliber) at E3 and the fact that they don't seem to try to do much for European branches of their audiences.

Because they released a trailer for their biggest ever game exclusively with first print copies of their dancing spinoff game that's only available in Japan and for a dying platform?

not starting their marketing campaign for P5 yet =/= bad marketing

They only did the trailer for first copies of the Japanese dance spin-off P4 game on the Vita. I really doubt that was their attempt at marketing. Like other people have mentioned, I expect Atlus will keep their cards close to their chest until they do a massive blowout of information.

Well, even if this was intended purely as a bonus for early P4D buyers, it didn't prevent it from overshadowing the newest Persona game which actually came out today, at least to the perception of those in the West.

With less than 6 months from 2016, yeah, the marketing has been stupid as hell. We got one trailer in February, one leaked trailer in June and the promise of 2015 for both Japan and North America. Get it together. You missed showing anything off at the biggest North American gaming event just so you could get a few extra sales for your Vita game... like was that worth it?

It's ridiculous because I don't see how extra marketing for DAN is even going to help it. The only people who will buy a dancing game spin off of a cult JRPG are the people who are already big enough fans to have already read about the game and made up their minds about it.

Persona 5 needs the push, it's a game that could actually find a much bigger audience if given the chance.

We need more man. If this game is actually coming out this year, give us something. I'd even be okay with an official date and pre order page. Anything.

that'll happen in the next month or two, if previous games are any indication. whether you get a release date now or in 10 weeks is gonna make zero difference to anything or anyone other than gamers who never learned that the world isn't always going to give them instant gratification

Ignorin PAL regions with their track record = bad marketing.

Hell all of their marketing decisions concerning PAL regions for the last few years are bad.

AtlusUSA is pretty cool though from what I saw.

So the voicing implies that Jun Fukuyama is indeed voicing the MC (and implying that we are going to get and MC with much more personality instead of blank slate approach)

He's extremely emotive and animated compared to the previous two leads.

Also, I've been at work all day so those gifs have been taunting me. I'm consistently amazed at how much I can complain, but a few minutes of footage, a chunk of which is rehashed, gets me back into squealing fanboy mode.

Hopefully Atlus actually starts marketing the game now.

you realize a limited trailer given to only a couple of people is different than a marketing push leading up to the release of a game, right?

Regardless of if it's their full swing marketing push or not, it's still a bizarre idea to advertise your biggest game in such a limited fashion.

I think I could understand if this was the first trailer. But since it's not, I think the rage is ridiculous.

I think it really means so little in the grand scheme of things.

Guys marketing started when they announced the game. Not showing anything new at E3, combined with the haphazard way they have handled this trailer is straight up bad marketing.

They have to know it is going to be leaked. Almost all of the major game sites have covered that it was leaked. Anyone who might not know about Persona but sees people excited about this new trailer will click on those stories hoping to see what this thing is and they will be greeted by a Atlustube has requested the removal of this video message. So instead of seeing the thing that is supposed to be promoting your big new game, they will move on and possibly never come back.

When the trailer is officially released, no one will care because it will be old news at that point. For example the English E3 trailer. There will be no excitement in those news stories, nothing for people to rally behind. If they had put this trailer up officially this morning on youtube, it would be racking up a ton of views, and thus creating buzz and excitement for your product, which will bring in new people to the series.

If people are legitimately angry about it then that's dumb, but I can certainly understand people finding it odd and getting into what it means in the long run is such a hypothetical situation that it's barely worth thinking about.

This trailer is not advertise the game but to make more people buy P4DAN.

I get that, but I still think that it's an odd choice to make a piece of marketing for your biggest game available in such a limited fashion, you'd think that they would go all out to ensure any marketing for P5 reaches as many people as possible.

This isn't meant to advertise Persona 5

This is meant to advertise Dancing All Night

Which is a horrible decision on their part. Anyone who is a big enough persona fan to purchase a game day one for a two minute trailer that will be on the internet within hours was more than likely already going to buy Dancing All Night anyway.

Looking awesome! I still don't have a clue about the story, though.

What people are saying about the blue haired guy?

I think he will be an antagonist for at least some part of the game. I'm mostly basing this of the shot with him followed by MC kinda "waving" him away.
Maybe I'm looking way too much into the little details though.
I am looking way too much into it

He also gives a pretty creepy vibe.

I have a perfectly fine gaming PC, but this game is literally the whole reason I'm buying a PS4 and brand new TV.
Hell, I only bought a Vita so I could play P4G, although I turned out to be very happy with that purchase.

I guess what I'm saying is, Sony and Atlus have me over a barrel.

But it feels so good.

It is not odd. It is a business decision. Atlus did the same when they bundled a exclusive SMT4 trailer with Soul Hackers.

I am pretty sure they have better marketing material than that trailer. If ihis was released on youtube people would be bitching about it being more of the same.

A little late but, THAT LOOKED AMAZING. Every time something is show for this game i get so hyped. Was that igors voice at the beginning?

i STILL say it'll be released in 2016, unless they're gonna go for a major big media reveal near its week/month of release.

I mean, a 2015 release has been stated so many times that I can't see any reason why it would be delayed any further.
"Bad marketing" doesn't mean a delayed game.

Most people are speculating that the voice is from the MC's Persona.

They didnt start localization of the game probably. Thus, they had nothing to show for the western market.

Easier to do this by bullet points:

1. They definitely would have started localization for Persona 5 a long time ago if it was going to release in 2015 in North America. Hell, the work they did for the Persona 5 E3 promo poster would be considered localization.

2. A game not being translated does not mean it has to be omitted from E3. See: Genei Ibun Roku #FE, Persona Q and the untranslated trailers they release on their North American YouTube channel for Persona games all the time.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

And it should actually read: Persona 5 out September 8th, 2015 for the states.

P............5.O....8............9...................5...........4.......T....S
Persona 5 Out 8 (day) • 9 (month) • 15 (year) (4)For The States

It all comes together!

I think this is reaching a little bit, but I desperately want it to be true. Plus, it's a Tuesday.

I fully believe in Sega Sammy's projected release schedule earlier this year, which means I fully believe Persona 5 won't be coming out anywhere before October.

The lack of marketing for a game supposedly coming out in 2015 points to Atlus doing what they've always done with major marketing for their very close to their release and releasing this game same day in Japan, NA, and EU. It might not be till late 2015, but if it is a simultaneous release, we'll hear about it coming to the rest of the world at about the same time we get a release date for Japan.
