Here is a translation of her character description from the Shenmue premiere video:

One of "the Four Leaders" of Chiyou Men, in charge of the south*.
She wears voluptuous red dress, and her manner seduces people.
Her fearful eyes that pierce everything are always seeking chases.
She takes pleasure in cruel actions and eliminates people just like bugs."

*Note:There are four guardian animals and Niao Sun's symbol
is red phoenix, guardian of the south. Just like Landi's symbol is blue
dragon, guardian of the east.

I don't mean ally in the sense that she's a good person. I think with the emphasis on her seducing people I could see her using Ryo to try and get one up on Lan Di.

It's all speculation on my part, and it's more gut feeling than anything with solid backing, but I think as we are introduced to the Chi You Min leaders, they'll have their own agendas and conflicts with each other.

As you can see down below, yes, Yu Suzuki has planned a few Stretch Goals for Shenmue 3. It has been 14 + years after all! For the different areas that will make up the game, Yu-san felt that he should focus on making each area as fully immersive as possible before moving on to the next new one, so the area portions of the Stretch Goals have been grouped together.

When it was decided Shenmue 3 would be a go on Kickstarter, Yu-san methodically structured how the game would fit together, knowing that it would change depending on how much could be raised here. The different elements of the game would form a scaffold, building up from each new system and mechanic that would enhance the game as a whole.

This only breaks ice, so on the Twitch session tomorrow, Yu-san will get deeper into the Stretch Goals and explain the different elements he has laid out Shenmue 3. The new video talks a little bit about the areas.
 
And they moved the stretch goals to the top of the campaign. They are definitely getting smarter. Now, they just need a new video to introduce newcomers to the world of Shenmue in a way that doesn't make it look cheap or weird. Those voiceovers are worse than Fukusan's whining, without any of the charm...
 
Yeah they absolutely HAVE to allow PayPal after the Kickstarter AND show the progress to the next stretchgoal.

If they do that, I feel confident that there will still be enough development time to allow for the money to pour in to cover every stretch goal.

I loved those brief descriptions from Yu and they finally moved stretch goals to the top of the page.
 
I would have preferred if more of the area expansions came before the battle system expansions...I wonder how much will be left out.
 
Instead of creating unrealistic stretch goals, I wish they'd create the rewards everybody's been asking for since day one so the KS could reach $6 Million, cause it sure ain't going higher than that at this rate.
 
Wow, if there was ever a time, just in case, that I wished Stretch Goals on a Kickstarter Campaign that went unmet would become the general plan of attack on post-release support content upon a successful launch---this would probably be about that time.

Still, I give it fair odds. I mean, come on, if Shenmue III is going to quite possibly break the record for game funding on KS thus far---it would definitely make it proper interesting for the next challenger to the title in the future to have a massive mountain to conquer just to see what they'd do.
 
Can we get the mods to perhaps edit the title and instead of put funded - replace it with "new stretch goals announced". Maybe a way to get more eyeballs on this thread and hopefully new pledges.
 
Really enjoyed the new video. I actually think that video alone gets me more excited than the main campaign video. Really cool to hear more about the unique settings of the game.

Great to see the campaign wising up. Seeing the stretch goals at the top of the page is great.
 
Just pledged $29. I may bump it all the way up to $120 in order to get a capsule toy, but I need to see what my funds will look like closer to the end of the kickstarter.
 
People need to remember that Kickstarter is a marathon, not a sprint. Getting stretch goals expanded and on top of the page is an important step, and will I'm sure be followed up with new high cost tiers. People will have a better sense of what they're working towards, and be more inclined to up their pledges.
 
Wooooo stretch goals! Pledge people, goddamn you all! :D Still no physical PS4 version. Goddamnit it again!

To be realistic though, I'm genuinely not that worried about the funding here. I'm almost positive they'll open up PayPal and their own funding campaign after the KS is over ala Star Citizen, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, etc.

Although I feel we will get the full experience. There is no way they don't continue funding after this initial campaign.
 
If they can add a meaningful tier between $30 and $100 that will be appealing to PS4 users, I think people will be shocked at how many will up their pledges.

PS4 fans are just waiting for an excuse to give them more money.

It's some kind of subtle reference that we'll all have to get part-time jobs to actually reach 9 million and unlock in-game part-time jobs.
 
Will this see a retail release from Sony when it's ready in 2018/2019? It's probably Sony's decision that didn't allow for a physical copy right now.
 
What? 11 million? Jesus H. Christ that means this KS would have to be at least the 3rd most successful kickstarter ever. For a third game in a series that last saw sequel 15 years ago and can't be easily found to be played.

I see this KS going above and beyond 5,000,000 but there's no way in hell it'll reach 10. I'll eat my crow if it happens, gladly, because I want this game to be the best it can be. But it won't reach that number. Especially not the way they're managing this KS.
