God, I hope there are photos of this.

I wanna see photos!

Edit:

Oh so it's a FAKE twitter account? :(

What emerges from her research is the kind of argument that should elicit an uncomplicated response from pro-immigration liberals and the country’s 40 million or so immigrants: something like, “what, no?!” But thus far, Coulter has found herself struggling to annoy, enrage, and otherwise provoke the mainstream media or the left. Bloggers have left her alone. Twitter has left her alone. The networks have left her alone. “Nobody will debate me!” she said. “There’s been no ABC, NBC, CBS for me on this book! This is my 11th New York Times best-seller. I write them myself! I research them myself! I’m the female Bob Woodward! If I were a liberal, I couldn’t write another book, I’d be so busy collecting awards! I’d be posing for the cover of Vanity Fair!”
This is really pathetic, even for Coulter.

Rush Limbaugh saying GOP candidates need to double-down on social issues and stop shying away from them.

Bwahahahaha!
Please proceed, GOP.

What are conservatives saying they need to "fight"

What fight? There's no "fight" to this. This is the end. The final ruling. They cannot appeal any further and laws cannot be made to contradict this ruling.

There is literally nothing they could (legally) do to "fight" against gay marriage
They'll likely fight by pushing harder to pass "religious freedom" laws.

So does this mean the government will start keeping gay marriage statistics...what if the divorce rate is lower than traditional marriage?

I don't think it's fair to reduce libertarianism to the Tea Party or the republicans. There's a lot more to it than that.

The Libertarian party was pushing for equality some 40 years ago!

It was a generalization on the poster's part, but I don't think you need to qualify the statement to not include dissenting, classical Libertarians.

The poster was clearly referring to the largest and most powerful group of Libertarians in the country.

My mind is jammed because this is so historic...

It's fucking glorious and distant relatives can now finally nag me and ask, "You're getting old. When are you getting married?"

Fun trivia time!

The originally-proposed text of the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause:
“No discrimination shall be made by any State, or by the United States, as to the civil rights of persons because of race, color, or previous condition of servitude."

But nope.. they made a decision to make it a bit broader in scope:
“No State shall ... deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

So anyone claiming that the 14th Amendment is only to be used to address the issue of newly-freed slaves is full of.. applesauce.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott on today's decision

Sigh

On one hand, this is very vague. I cannot tell if he is explicitly saying he will do whatever he can to block gay marriages or if he is pandering to Christian votes by conflating the issue of gay marriage with attack on Christianity. ie. he won't stop gay marriages but will ensure Christian's are protected in their right to their beliefs.

What do you think?

It sounds like he's just saying he's going to protect religious beliefs which most likely means protecting the churches from getting sued for not performing homosexual weddings.

Know what? It was a poor choice of words. A libertarian is mainly concerned with an individual's rights more than state rights (though I still suspect many libertarians would be for more state rights). I concede the point.

The current crop of political libertarians (the Pauls) tend to use states rights as political cover so they can avoid taking a stance on way or the other.

now you have to stop the haters who took a lost today from taking that shit to Africa

I saw a VICE docu on US Citizens doing just that spreading hate in Africa because they were losing here in the US

Judges signing waivers so same sex couples can get married today, won't have waiting period

Are we allowed to eat Chick-Fil-A again? I thought the boycott was still happening!

Either way, I guess it's over now.

Yea, I really want gay wedding receptions to take place in Chick-Fil-A now. Imagine them intertwining arms to share halves the same chicken sandwich, while aghast families look on.

It sounds like he's just saying he's going to protect religious beliefs which most likely means protecting the churches from getting sued for not performing homosexual weddings.

The majority opinion affirmed the rights of tax-exempt religious institutions to refuse to perform gay marriages based on conscientious objection. They literally cannot be sued for that. The ruling applies to civil marriage only.

I work for this paper. Stay tuned if you want to hear more. We're on the scene at the Clerk's office.

Oooh, primary sources, gimme gimme.

I agree, but that's what the fear is because of what happened to people who refused gay wedding cakes, pizzas, etc..

It's a slippery slope you know :)

I think I have every declared GOP candidate's twitter page open in a separate tab now watching for hilarious updates. Marco Rubio just shared his opinion broken up into 11 tweets. He hit the normal states rights and unelected judges points, ending with:

In the years ahead, it is my hope that each side will respect the dignity of the other.

I'm curious as to how he thinks his side has been disrespected.
