NA PSN Sale - Fantasy Flash Sale (Goes Live 6/26 or 6/27 - Ends 6/29)

Sort of interested in Monster Monpiece and Neptunia ReBirth 1, but I have little tolerance for fanservice involving underaged female characters.

Otherwise, Valkyria Chronicles 2 is tempting, but I have not even played the first one yet (got it during the Steam Summer sale). Tales of Hearts R is a maybe, but I hear that the game has an iffy translation.

There might not be much for me this sale, besides the TG16 games.

Other poster said I didn't have to.

Well besides, I'll have enough with one jrpg for now.
Also most probably be burnout for the sequel if I jump in #1 at first.

Xillia 2 is a direct sequel, but X2 has a video that catches-up the story of the first game.

I played both a long time ago, but outside of the same characters returning, I didn't felt that X1 was that important for X2. You won't miss on any story points, just might not be invested on the characters. I also thought that X2 does a better job at fleshing them out.

A lot of the Dimensional Breach stuff is based around the plot and characters of the first game. They lose a ton of impact if you go in without having played Xillia 1.

You really shouldn't play 2 first.

Started Hearts R, first impression is positive, I hope I enjoy it as much as the Xillia duology.

In the store for Shadow Warrior it shows $7.50 and a PS+ price of $6, but it won't let me choose the PS+ price.

Anyone else see that?

If you care about story and characters play the first before. It makes no sense to play the second one first.

Is the Valkyria Chronicles 2 DLC even worth it?

I thought it was just 20 non-story maps, probably reusing maps from the actual story. Don't think they even have a briefing, just a short synopsis of Fight vs. Class E or something like that. I mean, you got the stuff like extra characters by inputting codes on the main menu.

I haven't tried em, that was just the impression I got.

stupid ass bonk won't download directly from vita and now i gotta do all these updates for the ps3 and now there are psn sign in errors, man this ish is annoying!

If I don't mind the anime-ness of the Atelier games, will I be okay with Hyperdimension Neptunia? The rub stuff in Monster Monpiece turned me off if that helps.

Then again, I'm getting Sword Art Online which I'm 100% sure has stuff in it that I'm going to be turned off by.

Is Eliminage actually any good? What little I could find on the game online seemed mixed at best.

seems like a decent dungeon crawler, which would naturally get mixed reviews. $3.75 worth a try

also, i just learned it's spelled elm-inage, i've always called it eliminage, like eliminate lol

PSN is just not working for me right now.. .Even on the browser it wont work.

Not as bad, but I'm getting errors too. Logged out every couple minutes after getting in. I managed to toss everything I wanted into my cart, but every time I try to get to my cart I'm logged out (six tries now?).

I'm giving up for now. I'll try to get back when the god of PSN decrees I may send him money.

Neptuina is far less offensive in that regard than SAO to be honest, and this is coming from someone who really enjoyed both games. SAO is more.....annoying in that regard, as there is no respect given to the female cast outside of 'lets bother the main character and attempt to be with him despite being married to our friend in-game :D!" :l. It can be funny in that regard but it can be a bit distracting at times.

With Neptuina, while it is clearly 'anime', its much more charming with it rather than bothering. The characters have fun, the English VA is fully aware of what they are voicing, the dialog is fourth-wall breaking and the characters are honestly enjoyable to interact with. The dialog and humor of the game was what pushed me through the 2/3rd's I played of it despite the odd difficulty curves. Overall, both are great games but each does things differently.

Since he was considering only one tales of game, I thought it would be better to go straight to ToX2 even if he risks losing a few things. I do understand that those indeed will lose some of it's impact though,

Since he is looking for only one tales of game (I think), it will depend if he wants to see the full story (buy ToX1) or jump to what I think it's the better game (ToX2)

How does Valkyria Chronicles 2 compare to the first game? Is it worth getting at $5?

Plenty of people have given their opinions above, but my two cents: it compares poorly to the first game, but the fundamentals are still there. The characters, setting and story take a big dive in quality. The maps are split up into multiple small zones, which many people dislike but I actually kind of like for weird reasons. You have more classes to play with, which is great, but the progression system involves grinding for random loot from missions to upgrade individual characters to higher classes, which sucks. That said, if all you want to do is beat the game, you'll do fine without a ton of grinding from what I remember.

But the basic gameplay of selecting pieces on a map, running them around and shooting people in third person? Still totally intact. Valkyria Chronicles 2 may be the worst of the VC games (the Japan-only VC3 is better, though it reuses a bunch of VC2 maps), but it's still a decent game. I already own it and for five bucks I'm considering double-dipping for a digital copy (though I probably won't, given the PS3 requirement for transferring to Vita).

That's a pretty disappointing sale.

Buy Never Alone, though, if you've yet to play it. It's not technically perfect, but it's a really cool experience.

Not really feeling this sale but I always dig classics I can play on my Vita. I think I'll grab Bonk and Myst. Bonk is just the TG-16 original, right?

How do the TG-16 games run on PS3? Are they Vita compatible?

I'm pretty sure Bonk and New Adventure Island are super solid, but I've never played Dungeon Explorer. Has anyone else?

TG-16 is the only thing that interests me in this sale.

Omega Quintet and Tales of Hearts R are both on my want list but I know they will both go cheaper before I actually play them. I'll sit this one out ;)

Yep, I loved the game on PC, had to pick it up on PS4. Definitely a recommended title - can't think of a much better way to spend $6.

It looks great, glad to hear you loved it. I was always super close to getting it but then another game would pop up and take away my attention. I almost bought it on PC, then Xbox One, but finally got it now on PS4. And for $6! That's awesome. Now to find the time to play it somehow.

Sword Art Online is...well I really don't know.

I put 15+ hours into it and it felt like nothing happened. Characters kept getting introduced, there were all these scenes, and the plot was just ?????????? The bulk of my play-time was spent in an apparently entirely optional area. I didn't even discover the area I was supposed to go to until the 13 hour mark.

The combat is interesting, sort-of action-MMORPG. I say sort-of because it's not really free. You can't just run around and dodge everything, you have to properly use your skills and evade at the right moments.

The cast is just the worst. So many girls and all they do is fawn over the main character. It's to the point where I'd get disgusted. Sometimes I just want to be left alone so I can figure out what I'm supposed to do, but dozens of things are happening and all the waifus (and an actual virtual wife?? and a kid?!?!?!?) are hassling me.

Ziggurat is pretty good. I've put about 7-8 hours into it. (PC version)
Basically a rogue-like FPS. Run into a room, it fills full of enemies, then you shoot your way out with magic.
There are a variety of perks you can unlock, but I like how this game keeps it simple. What's going to keep you alive is your reflexes. Some rogue-likes just pile on the crap until you're covered in buzz-saws and shooting lasers out of every orifice. The perks are pretty simple, but can be effective.

Only complaint so far is that some bosses (especially the 5th) just fill the screen with so much crap, that you have a hell of a time dodging anything.

Elminage Original is one of my most-played PSP games. It's a dungeon-crawler, but mixes things up by having several dungeons (as opposed to one being ginormous). In order to complete the game you have to use a compass to find macguffins. The compass grows in strength as you feed it points. Points are acquired by completing side-quests. For the most part the difficulty is manageable. Each dungeon is marked by difficulty and it's usually a good indicator. The monster-designs are all excellent.

IMO. If the choice is available to you, play Original before Gothic. Gothic is MUCH harder than this game.

Blood Knights - http://steamcommunity.com/id/pepsimanvsjoe/recommended/258220/ <--- My review.
tl;dr - NOPE

Hows Rack N' Ruin for PS4? I think that it's a pretty good discount from it's original price (and at a price that if it comes out on plus I wont feel too bad) and I like Zelda games. Thoughts?

my voucher money came in and i collect two more, so i managed to buy Tales of Hearts R.

i hear it's a very good tales game.

I've just played a couple hours of Omega Quintet, and first impression is pretty positive. If you like this kind of JRPG and know what you're in for it's worth $24.
