Man, I love it when I'm playing splat zones and I roll over the entire opposing team with a Kraken, then sit there by myself in the zone wondering where the hell my team is. I've got the entire area peppered with jump points but not one being used. By the time my team shows up, our opponents have regrouped and I'm chased back out again. Why do you just sit in the zone if everyone are away? If you've splatted all in the other team, you have about 9 seconds to prepare all the surrounding areas around the zone with your color, making it more difficult for them to make a comeback.

I've been using krak-on roller pretty much exclusively on ranked so I should probably diversify my weapon skill more at some point. Aerospray is pretty much my alt at this point, but I've heard others say that its worse for ranked than turf, is that the consensus?

It's not terrible in ranked but it suffers from all the drawbacks it usually does like short range. If you get unlucky and your team dosent have any long range you basically forfeit a round though

You can only participate while wearing your teams shirt.

I would love ink resistance with 3 power ups. Or a power up helmet with 3 power up subs. It's almost impossible to get it so I don't even bother.

Don't be afraid to jump into Turf War and experiment with different weapons to find your niche. There's a specific advantage and disadvantage towards every weapon you adopt. The best advice I can give is to be creative and learn when to best apply a weapon, hence why the map cycle can be of a lot of help.

Each slot of gear offers unique stats that you may want to experiment eith. For clothes, ninja squid is very good if you want to sneak up on enemies and cold blooded to avoid echolocator.

Hats have tenacity which gives you adds to your special meter when you have less teammates alive than the enemy.

Shoes I would say ink resistance. It's too good, although it will get nerfed pretty soon. Even then, I don't think it will be severe enough to make me choose another stat.

Alternatively there's opening gambit (first 30 seconds you get stat increase, and I think it was almost everything from ink efficiency to faster charges for your special) and closing gambit (last 30 seconds, this might not exist and I'm just making things up) for hats. Stealth squid jump for shoes as well. I wouldn't recommend stealth squid jump because usually if it's not safe to jump to your teammates noticed, it won't to be safe jumping to them unnoticed.

For all the other stats, it depends on the gear you use.

I used to always wear whatever gave me the most stealth. At this point having played so much I literally just wear what I think looks cool. I don't choose gear based on abilities anymore.

I can't say I notice myself doing any better or worse compared to when I used my old cherry picked gear.

I gave the carbon roller another shot and I'm really digging it now. It allows you to operate at short, medium, and long ranges. The only catch is you have to develop a burst bomb game.

Just had 15-2 on Port, my game is going to get screwed by the patch. Kraken and Ninja Squid is too much nerf for me to take. Especially when the very next match my team completely lets me down not a single person with positive stats while I'm 11-4.

Inkbrush is my main but it's supposedly awful for splat zones, Dynamo's slow charge has killed me far too many times, Luna Blaster was great during the C ranks but in B I'm getting murdered by 96 Gal/Splatter Pro users before I even get a second shot off, Carbon is useless against even tiny amount of lag and I have no intention of using Krak-On/Splatter Pro/52 Gal/96 Gal/Tentatek like everyone else.

Anyhow I like the Carbon Roller but I'm going to wait for Seeker/Seeker Rush variant - right now the subs and main aren't really my thing. I'm not very good with Inkzooka

I haven't honestly, after barely clawing back from a bunch of losses I didn't want to risk using something I hadn't tried. I did a little messing around with it in the testing ground and the extra range over the Luna is lovely but it felt like it fires slower which was a concern. I guess it certainly would let me stay out of bomb rush spam range.

Yeah, I'm well aware of how good it is for ranked. But much as I wanted to use it I usually find myself getting cut down by Gal users a split second before my splash comes out, so I guess it isn't really for me.

I'm starting to think Port Maceral Ranked is my jam! With the Kelp Splatter Shot I always defend the zone closest to my team. Using the sprinkler is great bait too. I rarely feel outmatched.

The range is good for keeping us at bay but up close there's something about the firing rate/damage output that stymies carbon rollers too. Unless I catch a squelcher completely off guard I usually lose from any range.

I love that spot too. In some matches I actually sneaked through the enemy base and got to that spot in the enemy's side.
