Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

Man last night I had my first ranked match in a while where it just felt like no one on my team knew what they were doing. It's a little disheartening to play matches like that

It's really going to change EVERYTHING when ranked parties are introduced in the August update.

Right now I go into ranked and really expect all of my teammates to be bad and for us to get stomped. Playing with other GAFers will be glorious because I've played with many, many of you and you're all seriously good at the game. It'll be nice to KNOW you're going to play with someone good.

I don't really know if ranked parties are even going to be a thing considering they don't allow you to play ranked with friends now. Somehow they would need to make sure everyone in the party is the same rank for it to work.

I hope they just have a regular splatzones mode without the ranks involved, because the mode itself is really fun when you're not worried about losing points

The range is good for keeping us at bay but up close there's something about the firing rate/damage output that stymies carbon rollers too. Unless I catch a squelcher completely off guard I usually lose from any range.

I think you would really need good abilities like damage ups and defense up to mimic the strength of a normal roller. It does kinda suck you can't ohko someone by rolling over them :/

Also I'm trying to join you now.

Yeah, Nintendo did a good job of balancing the good with the bad so it's not OP.

It might just be me but there's a lot of teleporting going on in this room. Be warned.
Can confirm. Fuck squelchers. :X
yes, although team CR won that last round :D

Is there any 3-star gear with triple subs that people want?

Not really sure what I want to go for, so I may as well try to go for something that someone else may want.

I wish if I had three star stuff to care about right about now. The things I'm most interested in are one or two star with extra slots.

Krak-On Red Hi Tops with 3 Swim Speed Ups
Tentatek Fake Contacts with 3 Ink Recovery Ups
Takoroka Red Vector Tee with 3 Special Charge Ups
Skalop Squidvader Cap with 3 Quick Respawns
Splash Mob Shrimp Pink Polo with 3 Ink Saver Mains
Tentatek Tennis Headband with 3 Ink Recovery Ups
Forge Studio Headphones with 3 Ink Saver Subs
Zekko Varsity Jacket with 3 Special Savers
Tentatek Neon Sea Slugs with 3 Ink Recovery Ups

I realize I'm kinda trending away from specialist builds and going for more "jack" style configs. As such, I'm prioritizing fast special building, good ink conservation and decent swim speeds with ink resistance.

Why do you just sit in the zone if everyone are away? If you've splatted all in the other team, you have about 9 seconds to prepare all the surrounding areas around the zone with your color, making it more difficult for them to make a comeback.

Figure of speech, I don't literally sit there. I ink everything needing to be inked and position an ambush but one roller can only do so much without any support. Though I did manged to hold zone two in ..is it the warehouse? By myself for what felt like half the match once. Splatted the opponents 14 times to my 2. I was lucky they were half chargers though and seemed determined not to take up any of the sniping points. All the same, I've never been prouder of the fancy maneuvering I did that match. If only I played that well all the time.

I think the rotation system hates the human race.

Why is Nintendo dragging their feet with the 3 map rotation? Are they waiting until everyone gets Splatfest? Have they even confirmed that it will be permanent at some point?

Either way they need to fix the rotation of the 2 selected maps. Playing the same one a dozen times in a row is even more annoying than the two map for 4 hour limit.

I heard someone mentioned on here a while back that after the JP Splatfest it went right back to 2 per rotation. I really hope I misheard them >,<

it had to have gone back to 2 because they're back in the global rotation with everyone else

that's why I think the 3-map rotation will be standard once everyone has had their first splatfest

Nope, that was true. They can't roll out a 3 map rotation to Japan if the rest of the world is still on 2. The thing I'm trying to figure out is if Nintendo ever actual said that 3 maps would be a permanent thing in the future or if people just assumed that when they saw the Splatfest selection screen.

they haven't said anything, I think people are assuming it will become standard because there's clearly space for a 3rd map in the current map rotation icon in the lobby

The three-map rotation thing has just been an educated guess based on the obvious extra space. Nintendo seems determined to drip-feed elements of the game out and I imagine part of restricting this early is so that people have more time with each individual map to adjust to it, rather than "overwhelming" people with that extra option. The question I have is whether they'd wait until all of the current maps are released before implementing the 3-map rotation, meaning it won't happen until the end of the summer at the earliest.

...Also it still feels like I'm absolute trash with anything but the .96 Gal. Been playing like shit so far today, flip to one match with the .96 and go 1200p+, 12 and 0 splats. Is this just my destiny forever?

Yeah, but what if that's only used for splatfests because reasons?

They better change something permanently by the big August update. I'm already getting worn out by the way they're handling maps. I feel like there's one or two I haven't played on in weeks.

Ehh I really do like Underpass. It's one of my favs but I am getting tired of Port in rotation almost every time I'm on.

Ok that would make sense. I really do hope they make three standard. The same two over and over is starting to get to me now.

I'll be on again in a bit, have to take a call!

I made this Miiverse post in hopes it explains to people who didn't know what the hell Squid Beakons are for lol: https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAADVHkN4mfpZg

See, I'm asking for 3-star ones cause people can't order anything else for their own use.

I got this today, but people can't order it and get the exact same thing.

I love underpass for splat zones. Turf war, not so much

Yeah, it makes for a really interesting splatzone map but I don't find it very fun for turfwars. The only entertaining thing about it really is sprinkler trolling on the overhang. If you throw it right the only thing that can take it out is an inkstrike >:3

That's... pretty damn good. My white anchor tee had 3 strength up sub-abilities but I was convinced that it made sense to re-roll it. I kind of regret that now ;_;

I guess the game realized that I was winning too much & gave me a communication error. Funny considering that the lobby I was in was filled with scrubs.

lmao I just went 5-14 in a splat zone game. Too many sneak attacks and inkzookas.

We still won though

edit: The game just dropped an A+ in a room of Bs. Why

I figured.

I'm also crying right now because that shirt is perfect and what I was working towards until RNGesus thought I needed two Special Charge Ups... and a Quick Jump Up.

I would love ink resistance with 3 power ups. Or a power up helmet with 3 power up subs. It's almost impossible to get it so I don't even bother.

I finally got a piece of gear with 3 of the same skills They were all damage up so that could be useful if I wanna take up charging.

Too bad it's on my TEMPORARY CAT SHIRT :(

Haha we can only hope. Match starts, teammate immediately leaves beakon on spawn point, accept fate.

Can't quite believe how much I've came around to playing Ranked. Losing is frustrating in the best way. Having trouble sticking to one weapon of choice though.

Profound sadness.

I don't even bother rerolling my splatfest tee cause I know it'll disappear in a week smh.

I'm bothered by how rarely my teammates go after enemy beakons in the vicinity. I've literally seen my team walk past them like they're no big deal. Those things are absolutely game-changing and make it feel like you're dealing with a constant wave of opponents spawning right next to you. In one game yesterday, we drove the enemy back and held the second zone in Port Mackerel only after I went up the ramp to the enemy spawn, went through the long narrow high ground and got rid of the beakons at the end of that path. If I had Inkstrike, I would've dropped it on that spot earlier. Beakons in Saltspray are game winners.
