Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

GAF, has it been hinted if a 4-player local co-op mode will be added for the game? Or all the leaks were for online modes only? The game looks hella nice but I don't play shooters online anymore, and this game seems perfect for couch with my friends.

There will never be couch co-op, the system just isn't capable of rendering everything four times; best we can hope for is LAN play with multiple Wii Us.

I don't mind not being on the same teams as my friends, playing them is as good as playing with them. i just hate that

a) i can't see if a bunch of friends are on the same server without loading in
b) you can queue for a server, join and your friend leaves
c) randoms, randoms everywhere

I am so fucking sick of being put on the opposite team from my friends

August cannot come soon enough and we should not have had to wait for August at all for something so simple

Agreed 100% have no idea why they even delayed it till August instead of having it right at launch.

Out of curiosity...what exactly would a 4-player local co-op mode even entail? Are you talking about doing like a 2v2 turf war? 4 players vs bots in...another turf war? 4 players simultaneously going through Hero Mode?

Even that I would take. If it was possible with MK on the GC, you can do it here Nintendo!
Pls

4 players vs bots is what I had in mind, or 2 v 2 with bots filling up the team.

So GAF, do I play on my new 60" HDTV that will be fairly highly contested at all times of day with the Wii U wired, or do I use the 47" HDTV in the room where it may not be possible to play when I'm available and the Wii U is on wireless?

The other option is to use the 19" LCD SDTV like I've been doing, but it'll have to be wireless. =/

The 47" is available during the day, but I'm not usually available to play at that time. It also has an acceptable amount of input lag where it wouldn't affect me badly. The 60" is in a nicer location, allows me to wire the Wii U, but will be used by the other members of my family and has a noticeable amount of input lag in Game mode. The 19" is always available and has virtually no input lag, but is small, SD, and hard to see at times.

I would move the Wii U whenever I need to, but the plastic/rubber tubing on the power adaptor cable detached from the brick and is exposing the copper wiring inside of the tube.

I want to choose the 47", but availability issues when I usually play.

tl; dr version: Why can't I have a game room that's available whenever I want?

Edit: I know it's silly asking here, but I just needed to vent out how annoying this situation is.

live by yourself, do what you want

(go for whichever HDTV is less contested; wired vs. wireless shouldn't matter too much since Splatoon often just assumes both players killed each other in a 1 on 1)

Maybe if you play on the big TV, you can somehow get your family into it as well?

I think splatoon deserves to be seen on a big clear TV. The colors are just so vibrant. But, if it's not possible due to availability or because you may lag too much in online matches, you might not have a choice and you have to use the smallest TV.

So the balance changes are definitely already in effect, I can already feel ninja squid being significantly slower. It's especially bad when climbing walls, you barely even move unless you mash X.

Impossible. The game wasn't updated and it's not like they would time lock a balance patch.

On a side note I like the dual squelcher custom quite a bit. Not as control-y as the E Liter custom but has a much better inkage to compensate

Come the fuck on. Finally made B- rank, and I get put in a room where I'm going 27-5 and my teammate's going 0-1. How am I supposed to rank up like this? I can only carry so much. Obviously was a loss. :-/

For the folks who still play ranked (I get the fleeting suspicion some folks in this thread don't, and that's fine), do you play in long sessions or not?

I mean if you're going around scoring 27-5 you should be ranking up pretty steadily. I consider myself fairly mediocre and I'm at A-.

Same. I pretty much keep going until I lose. I normally give myself three losses, then I'm done with Splatoon for the day.

Just ranked or all Splatoon? I'd barely play at all if I quit after three losses, winning or losing is often decided on if your teammates are shit or how good your opponents are

But yeah for ranked I usually play in spurts of 2-3 matches. Maybe more if I'm trying to get back up to the number I was at before I started

I only play when good maps are in rotation, and then get as much playtime out of those 4 hours as I can. I only (voluntarily) stop if I'm on a big losing streak or if I rank up or down.

It would be be nice, but it's not an option ATM. The wireless argument makes sense, especially with how Splatoon's servers have been.

My family has no interest in games, so I'm out of luck. =P However, it really does look nice on the 60".

My last option is to use the 36" CRT TV in my garage, but it's used as storage and is the farthest from my router. Heh.

We'll see how the coming days change how my family uses the TV.

totally possible. B or B+ is only where I find it starts actually getting serious

if I get knocked down to B- or god forbid C+ I know at least I'm going to have an easy time of it for a little while

Lol I don't mind losing in Turf War. I don't count them in my quota. I'm usually online to play Ranked (which is why I don't play with GAF much if at all sadly :( )

3 is my ranked quota because I once went on a 20 game losing spree and ranked the hell down into C. After that, I realized I had a problem with being obsessive lol.

Any way to switch that small TV with the 36 one?

Yeah I only play ranked when certain maps are up too. I learned yesterday to not play on blackbelly skatepark because the layout really does not lend itself well to the duel squelcher's playstyle; too much close quarters shootouts. And I've only played ranked on port mackerel once and I don't think I'm quite ready to try that again

This is pretty smart. I should probably do the same for the mall. Not that it's a bad map, but with my playstyle, I lose most of the time in it.

There are a few good points to help long range weapons compete there. Not many though.

Chargers can hit the opposite zone from the "attack area" ledge that marks the beginning of what is considered to be the base. This area plus the open area to the left is a decent starting stage, but is ambushed fairly easily if you're not paying attention.

There's a high ledge on the right side of the map that you can hit the opponent's defenses from, which is immensely helpful. You can't effectively protect your own zone though as it's around a corner.

Gg's violet and xeteh!

Violet, in that last you you popped out of no where and hit me with the inkzooka. It surprised me so much I very noticeably jerked my head back and my wife saw it, she was like "...you good?" Lol

I need to play Turf War more. Fun playing you dudes.

I think you and I were on the same team every match except for one. And yeah, play more turf war. GAF rooms are an absolute blast. GGs!

stealthy squid form -> inkzooka is my specialty, but I don't know if I'm teleporting occasionally on your end. I didn't mean to spook you, ha
