Fighting Games Weekly | June 29 - Jul 5 | Frauds Among U.S.

Don't expect 2 USF4 streams for pools but I can see them having 2 streams after that (1 for winners and 1 for losers).

For people that've travelled a lot for FGC tournaments, do airlines ever give you problems over your arcade stick?
Why would they? I did it once and had no problem what so ever even though the country was under marshal law at the time and I got stopped for 20 minutes because I insisted that the TV I was shipping is in fact a TV and not a monitor!

Nah, just take it out the bag before they scan it so they're not like "Yo what the fuck is this?"

I was just wondering because I saw a tweet (I think from Filipino Man) talking about someone opening his stick in the airport and getting some nervous looks lol

I don't chance the arcade stick through carry-on. Let's just say that the TSA inspectors I've had experiences with are extremely gung ho about stopping people for the tiniest of things and are all too willing to confiscate the nearest questionable object.

I'm not willing to leave such an expensive item up to those guys. I'd prefer to just check a bag for peace of mind.

You think people don't steal things out of checked bags? I had a nice laptop stolen and it was hell getting it back from the airliner.

I departed from Boston to LA the weekend after the Boston marathon bombing, before they caught the guy and were actively looking for him. There were cops at Logan brandishing sub machine guns.

No problems getting through security with my stick.

That's a reasonable thing to be worried about, but in my hundreds of flights I have never had anything stolen out of my checked in bag (and I usually pack my laptop in there 95% of the time). I also wrap my arcade stick in bubble wrap and tie it up. Seems unlikely that someone would try to steal something so bulky.

My TSA experiences are pretty awful. I got interrogated super hard over portable gaming twice, once for my ipod, and another time over my house keys. Another time they claimed I had something in my back pocket when I didn't, so got two full patdowns and they tested my hands for bomb chemical residue. I don't even want to imagine what these people would do with my arcade stick.

I was stopped once at OAK International, because of my modded arcade stick's many wires that came up in the x-ray scan. When some TSA guards saw the KOF art, they knew right away that it was no trouble.

Other times, TSA always searched the check-in bags, whenever I place the arcade stick in them. I would have a searched slip every time I traveled with it.

TSA only pat me down every time I go through. I don't know what it is, but the last 4 times I have flown they pat me down.

How on earth did you get it back?

Luckily it was at the airport closest to my home and this wasn't a one time incident (people's stuff being stolen). They caught the person shortly after trying to unload a bunch of stuff at a pawn shop.

If it was a one time thing, or the person was smarter about it I'm sure I would have never seen it again. I'm guessing they probably got away with it enough that they got careless. Took about a month for me to get it back.

James Chen was just speculating.

The last update Smash has had was that it had just passed 1500. At that time, Ultra was just a few away from 2000 players.

Who knows how much Smash has added since then, but I think it's safe to assume it has added 200 more players for each game.

CEO had a surge of last minute Smash players of over 400 players at the last day of regging. It got to the point where 2/3 of entries at CEO was for either Melee or Smash 4.

I don't think it was 400 players. I was paying attention to the google doc and Smash 4 had capped before the last day. Melee added about 100 (maybe less) in the last week and a half and was like 30 shy of the cap that Smash 4 hit a couple of days before.

512 players was the cap at CEO wasn't it?

Hmm, you're right. Guess I was thinking it was the last week. I know JaBaeily was listing the late registration as a reason why the Smash players got the smaller ballroom, no ring, etc. As he couldn't plan to get a bigger room, a second ring, etc. without knowing for sure about numbers

512 was the cap, yes.

I've used standard for most of my life until America actually got Japanese parts. In the good old days of American arcades and the giant ass cabs with MAS parts that was the only way to use. Not until MCZ gave us the first TE that I switched over to wineglass. Haven't looked bad since. The only time I use Standard now is when doing lighting loops on 2p side or basically TK DP motion in general.
