Wish Yatagarasu character designs weren't so generic, they're pretty bad IMO.

Yeah, I have to agree on that. They seem lack something...maybe belts/zippers?

MSRP dropped from $60 to $30 not too long ago FWIW

Noticed that, but I wasn't following it. Didn't care too much.

Random musing: is Mark of the Wolves the only game where the MC (Rock) is absolutely trash? Most series at least has the main character be decent on the tier list.

While not Trash Abel isn't that high ranked in SF IV. If I remember right RX-78 isn't that good in Gundam Extreme VS as well.

Nah, OG Gundam is just fine, it's just basic. Tiers are very compressed in EXVS anyway.

Of course, it's not the "hero" of the game; the hero of almost every Gundam series is in the game, too. And the Heero of the game is top tier. ;)

I enjoyed Dieminion's entrance more as well, but I completely understand why the K-Brad entrance is the one blowing up right now. K-Brad's entrance is easily understandable to an outside audience, while the Dieminion one is based on an inside-FGC joke.

Also, lol at the people in the ESPN facebook comments claiming that fighting games are a sport now that they've been covered (in a completely tangential way) on ESPN.com.

Dieminion's works well if he had used the UnderTaker's music. He might have but I don't know.

it's that they look like they're checking off a list for designs without any inspirational addition to the characters that displays any interesting characteristics- especially not ingame through the va, spritework, portraits or moves

kof is really good at this as it's got many characters to where if you just reduce them to the clothes and hair of the design they're pretty tame/lame

good example of this is shen long. he's literally just a dude in a shirt and jeans but he has a fuckton of personality expressed through the virtue of everything surrounding him

ryo is basically 'recolored ryu' but then you get stuff like this:

Fcf628J.gif

even his idle stance (that got changed back in kof12/3...) shows a vast difference between him and other karate-man characters

Abel is not decent, he's bullshit lol.

that can't be healthy

GGs again Yams. I already said it, but stop jumping.

It'll only be for Sunday, I might just leave and crash over a friends place after that lol and yeah, ill hold back on jumping... lol

The FGC wants to be taken seriously while being allowed to remain as crude and sophomoric as possible. Dana White would be proud.

What a world we live in. They can still have money matches/monopoly dollar bets, I don't know why their complaining lol, that's what hotel rooms are for.

the point is that on a purely static level his design is basically the most uninspired possible one but he still expresses a lot of memorable/interesting characteristics despite that

Yeah he rides on a motorcycle while wearing geta and works on a ranch. Oh and he is japanese karate man that lives in america.

Ryo was pretty god damn bland in his first appearance. Robert was probably more original in the first art of fighting game even if he was an archetype that was 80s as hell. Then again the fact that Ryo, Robert, and Takuma all seemed to be copies of each other when it came to playing the game on their first outing as a team does not really help the originality argument.

Because his sprite work and animation was pretty damn bland originally.
well why didn't ya just say that in the first place rather than saying that he was unoriginal and bringing up a buncha unrelated stuff ya doof

we're gonna have to agree to disagree here 'cuz i think the '98 era ryo animations are fantastic examples (which is what i cited)

i really dislike stiff original stance ryo though for the same reasoning though

I'm still hoping they start using his Fatal Fury Wild Ambition look, or at least his Mr. Karate version with the goatie.

It's unfortunate that they went for his old stance in XIII but other than that the sprite itself is pretty damn good, dude looks pissed.

thank god we have two sf4 streams this year

It's always kind of funny to see other people beg for numbers whenever they update us on how many a certain game has. Pretty much they'll never tell, they'll drop hints but they won't give out specifics. We'll all have to wait till next week to get the specifics I guess. I think USF4 will barely get over 2200, which was my prediction a while back. Going to be pretty interesting to find out where every other game finished at.

Ultra is already over 2200. EvilMrWizard tweeted that earlier today.

Guess tournaments need more entrances and showy shit to get noticed

Which is fine with me tbh, CEO was hella fun

That was one of the reasons that made Red Bull Kumite so good. They had the entrances and the caged ring. Other tournaments need to find a way to liven up their tournaments.

nope, one of the cannon bros wrote on r/kappa that they're planning to do two streams for sf4 like 2013
https://www.reddit.com/r/Kappa/comments/3bcuts/fuck_this_one_stream_shit/cskzhr3

Ultradavid mentioned after the top 8 that capcomfighters will be streaming at EVO except for Semis and top 8. Usually evo streams pools for every game so I'm assuming those two streams will be the SF streams.
