Gamescom: Microsoft press conference (August 4; Scalebound, Crackdown, QB, H5+ more)

A fanboy with hopes and dreams.

Anyhow Crackdown feels like it's still a ways off. But what has me really excited is if they have new announces like Sea of Thieves and Recore. The only thing left is an awesome RPG of some sort.

Port begging aside, it would be nice on PC.

But the fact is the Xbox One only has Two Retail Exclusives at the moment (not counting remasters/ports/games that are confirmed to be coming to PC/Win 10). We are nearly two years into the consoles life, this number is not good at all. They need exclusives right now, a Platinum one that is well marketed could do good for the Console, especially outside of Murrica.

The question remains whether they see W10 and XB1 as compering devices...
I really hope they dedicate some time to PC in general, making good on their latest promise to do better. I really doubt it though.

I'd like to see them make another RPG like they tried to do with Jade Empire and Mass Effect, a new IP.

Perhaps they will try with a JRPG although given LO and BD weren't that successful I doubt anything else they could try on that scale would be either

Eh, Lost Odyssey was #8 on NPD chart the month it came out and it was a somewhat busy month as well.

They have been touting the "best lineup ever" saying the 2015 and beyond is packed with awesome games.

They even said preE3, that their desire was to extend the holiday season with Quantum break and some other games.
 
Any chance we see something new from Lionhead, or do we have to wait until Fable Legends is out before we hear anything on their supposed new IP? And when is Fable Legends going to be out anyways? Getting at least an open beta this summer/fall would be nice...

I mentioned it earlier, but I wouldn't mind a CG trailer from them. I'm interested in seeing what they'll be doing post-Fable/Molyneux.

Fable Legends is due for release "Holiday 2015" they were pretty unspecific about it about at E3, but its still coming. Beta seems to be progressing well.

And regarding something else:

"It's a team of about eight guys we have in the studio who are trying to build the next big IP for us," Needham said.

"They're working on a couple of new prototypes for completely different games - not Fable related. They'll also be working on new games we can put within Fable Legends as well."

Needham hinted we may get to see what Lionhead's incubation team comes up with sooner rather than later.

"The primary purpose of the group is to come up with new game IP, and we'll hopefully this next year have something exciting to talk about," he said.

Personally I do not think a Lionhead new IP will be at Gamescom although I would be pleased if they proved me wrong, not particularly for any reason other than FL is still going, but it does fit with the time-frame he gave and waiting an extra year until E3 (- 6 weeks~) is a long wait

Haha I never know anything, I am a million miles from the gaming part.

Actually that's not 100% true, I once knew about (censored) and (censored - kinda) both of which were a big deal at the time, but they're old news. Got no secrets any more. More than my job's worth anyway, heh!

Oh I know one secret not Xbox related. But I don't need the attention from leaking it heh.

Lionhead have been working on a new IP for a while, if I'm not mistaken. Hoping to see it revealed at Gamescom along with some other new IP.

If I recall correctly, they announced Fable Legends at Gamescom so it could happen with this new IP.

Dead Rising 3, Ryse, Forza 5, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Halo MCC.

There is probably going to be even more games coming down the pipeline that will be available on the Xb1 and PC.

I don't think it looks bad at all. I doubt there are too many people that own both a xb1 and a gaming pc.

This is probably Microsoft's future. Dedicated hardware that people can purchase to enjoy games with little hassle or for more hardcore, build a pc and still enjoy the same games with better fidelity.

I think it's a great future. Doesn't look bad at all imo.

For as fantastic as Platinum's games are they've never been massive sellers. I hope Scalebound does well but i'm not sure Platinum's name has the same clout among the general public that it does on places like GAF.
 
This conference is hype.

The best exclusives of 2016 are on X1 by my estimation.

Looking forward to see if the X1 brand will get the neogaf tick.

Enjoying the 2016 line up as an owner since witcher 3
