I'm taking 2 weeks off of work when this game drops. And no, i'm not kidding.
this actually kind of got me excited to pick up the uncharted collection this year.. haven't played them each since they were released.
In case you've forgotten, you said that in a UC4 thread too. So it's obvious with all your mental gymnastics in this thread despite people correcting you, just admit it, you are here simply to flame the thread. Can you explain why even bother coming here in the first place?

Then why are you here?
II'll probably get UC4 myself, but I just don't see Uncharted as a particularly interesting game
The on-rails criticisms definitely apply to Uncharted 1, but not so much the other two games in my opinion. At least Uncharted 2 and 3 do super linear set pieces RIGHT, unlike 95% of other games that attempt them.
I think the key difference is Naughty Dog figured out how to make those set pieces and scripted events feel much more smoothly connected to the standard gameplay. A lot of them really just feel like inventive level design utilizing the same rules that govern normal combat and traversal. Plus I feel like the combat in UC2 and 3 is more dynamic than most of what we've seen in recent third person shooters.
I don't see any deviation in those qualities in what we've seen of Uncharted 4 so far. Last year's gameplay demo showed a pretty wide and dynamically-designed level. This one shows a more linear sequence of events that doesn't toss in arbitrary new controls for the sake of isolated events. There are just a few times where you have to aim Drake's weapon from an unusual position. A good example of this mixing with fully-controlled gameplay is when Drake is in the back of the big truck during the chase. There he has a little space where he can move around take cover (that's constantly disappearing) while managing enemies on two different sides. It's really a smaller version of the truck convoy chapter towards the latter part of UC2.
In terms of level scripting I honestly think the Uncharted games (save the first one) are closer to the quality of Call of Duty 4 than other shooters of recent years.

This doesn't seem like a discussion though. This seems more like an endurance match of people whose stances won't change. You aren't going to change someones stance on uncharted, and its obvious your stance on uncharted isn't going to change.
This discussion you are having with people doesn't seem like its going to produce anything fruitful, it just seems like noise.
And FFS, you italicized the word game in that original post I quoted, like you are trying to provoke people.
He don't find the game interesting because he thinks it's mostly on-rails like Time Crisis, and he will have difficulty playing it because it's 30fps but he will probably buy it nonetheless.
You already made up your mind about this game and now you are just reaching. It's better to move on.
What's up with the people talking about the gameplay. We know Uncharted isn't the best playing game, that's not why people play it.Game looks nuts by the way.

Uncharted's gun play has always been solid and it's it looks like it's getting better...
Is there a TPS that's considered to be the best playing that I'm unaware of? I know a lot of people enjoyed Tomb Raider, but I also know that some don't prefer it because the animations aren't as good. TLoU plays very well, but Uncharted is an action adventure platformer... just like Tomb Raider...
Max Payne 3 is probably the best TPS mechanically, but then again it doesn't do much else in terms of gameplay.

Oh yeah, how could I forget?
Yeah I agree that Max Payne 3 is probably king in terms of TPS gunplay. I wish Rockstar would have implemented some of the basic gameplay elements of max payne into GTA V (which I haven't played, but I heard that shooting wasn't as good as MP3)
lol he gets shot at, dragged across rocks, hit by a car and acts like nothing happenedThe Grim Reaper must really fucking hate Drake for how much he's cheating death at this point
Naw son, Vanquish.
Gunplay and shootouts are absolutely terrible in GTA, like every other Rockstar open world game, it's designed with lock-on in mind.
Your posts are off the rails today man!
get it
No euphoria, no dice![]()
What no they dont.
I dont think you no what in rails means.
Wow, you're not only obtuse but corny as well.

I'd say Vanquish is a much more engaging tps, the game may suffer is almost all other areas, but it plays very well.Uncharted's gun play has always been solid and it's it looks like it's getting better...

Maybe the first one. The 2nd one is terrific, and the 3rd one after the control fix is pretty damn good (I thought it was decent but something felt off before the fix)
The games aren't that engaging, but they put it in very exciting situations so you don't notice how little you do.It's all very smart and makes for quick fun.If it was too difficult or had a high entry barrier it wouldn't be as popular.Uncharted plays great, that's why people play it. If it didn't nobody would care how pretty it looks.
I finally caved and watched it... lawd have mercy!! The only thing I didn't like about that trailer is it was almost too good.
I knew people were going to start bringing up Vanquish... that shit doesn't count. That game is too crazy and that style wouldn't fit in with 99% of the shooters out today.

That PSX demo is taking a lot from the last of us in terms of approaching combat areas. IMO, Uncharted was my go to TPS in terms of mechanics until last of us blew it out of the water. I find them very enjoyable. I liked the sense of movement in vanquish, but the actual act of pulling the trigger felt flaccid imo.
I dont know about that. What made the multiplayer so fun in Uncharted was its engaging gameplay, not so much the "very exciting situations". What more should you be able to do in terms of gameplay? They can add some upgrade system or crafting like TLOU to make it more engaging but the freedom of movement and how the game controls is just fine. The games aren't that engaging, but they put it in very exciting situations so you don't notice how little you do.It's all very smart and makes for quick fun.
