When SFV drops and everyone complains about it not being SFIV
Blackule is an OG OG?

I'm not sure what the qualifications are to determine what year "er" you are. Is it the year you took an interest in fighting games in general, or the year you took an interest in the FGC?

The year you started competing. If you don't compete you're a never'er. You therefore get no votes and no voice.

a lot of people really don't get that going last at evo is not a good thing for both the hype levels and the viewers

people are tired and burnt out by the time the last game rolls around and this was really reflected in the last 2 years

This. I don't care about the order myself, but I think either SF or Smash would get as many or more viewers as Marvel in it's timeslot. I've only watched all of top 8 SF I think once in the last 4 years; unless you're up late on the west coast or in Japan you're totally fucked, especially with it being on a Sunday night (Tekken players have to go to work).

It probably works better for people attending live, but sucks for most people watching it online.

it's when you started playing competitively
otherwise half of everyone would be a '91er and the other half would a be a soul calibur 2'er

when their most wanted characters are actually based on genuine nostalgia and not reading wikipedia entries.

This is unfair IMO.

Try Street Fighter or Capcom wikias

I thought it was the first tournament you went to. So I'm a '12er I guess.

Maybe they played SFA3? I think a good number of people were able to catch that one, even if they didn't take it serious. That's where I learned to love Gen and Rose <3

Many OGs take pride in not actually knowing shit

"playing by feel"

"instinct"

FOH

I mean it's mostly old dudes, old dudes and anti-intellectualism go hand in hand in America. I was asking a GG OG about the OSes in Xrd and I got a "I'm not learning any option select garbage" back.

Actually a lot of new players do that too but it tends to be not as bad. A lot of them listen to the older player nonsense and just assume it to be true.

Nothing irks me more than when people say "the US version of Tatsunoko vs Capcom".
Ultimate All Stars came out in Japan like the same day.

There's nothing like being a kid and playing KI in a snes emulator for PC and only button mashing with Cinder. -> -> HP or playing Tekken 3, picking Eddy and only press XO till you win. You can't get more OG than that!

You're one of those casual Wii fans, then.

Please understand.

Japanese TVC or North American one with the new characters?

Japanese import! I actually played it in arcade first at University Pinball in Philadelphia.

High five that was my first traditional fighting game too

*high fives*
*smedwicks armors through it and baroques*

But yeah TvC was so much fun to play, even though I didn't really understand what I was doing. It was the first fighting game where I actually studied moves and combos and made me go to my first tournament.
