Just a question for those who have pledged money. Datas like shipping addresses will be collected later after the Kickstarter ends successfully, right?

I really don't think his article is bad because when I first read the Shenmue update then went to look at the PS4 physical tier, that is the first thing that literally came to my mind - the PS4 placeholder art looks so cheesy and unprofessional, and yes, I know it's a placeholder. I am sure there are many people who feel the same without reading that article.

Payment will be accepted right when the Kickstarter ends. Addresses for shipping will be collected long after in a survey that will be emailed to you once they are ready to start receiving your information.

I'm at the beach but just spent a few mins getting caught up on everything. To be clear, all of Kotaku is off today, and we've got a guest freelancer running the site, so posts aren't going through the regular editorial process. As you guys saw, I expressed my feelings in the comments.

Is there any possibility that Kotaku could put up a story clearing up Sony's involvement? Most people still think that they are largely funding the game and that the Kickstarter is no longer necessary. However we've since learned that the Kickstarter is the primary means of funding this game so it has to be as successful as possible.

All the sites ran articles when Sony said they were helping with development costs, but none of them have run new ones or amended the old ones when we learned they were only helping with PS4 porting and most likely just giving the standard indie pub fund amount of $500,000 for development. Please help us out!

On a more upbeat note, I played OutRun today in an actual arcade, on a proper sit-down arcade machine, complete with hydraulic motion. The crt screen was blurry, the stereo speakers in the seat were too loud, the steering wheel rested at a 30° turn, and the start button/ignition had sticky black goop on it. And you know what? It was glorious and I loved every second. Already backed Shenmue 3 during Sony's conference and I couldn't be more excited.

Not only her, but Nozomi's friend Yuki, or whatever, always flirts with Ryo when I talk to her as well.

I think we all know who wanted a piece of the Hazuki sword more than anybody.

She always flirted with little suede-headed Ryo.

I have to say, my level of respect for Kotaku had been rising for the last year. Never actually hated the site or anything, but your pal Phil Owen is doing a remarkable job at sabotaging the integrity Kotaku has been building.

Granted, I'm a massive Shenmue fan, but I've also had history in game journalism, testing, development, and documentary work. Posts like Phil's belong in in forums without moderation.
If it helps, I'm wayyyyy more frustrated than any of you are.

i played an odd version of outrun years ago. it had a weird little steering wheel controller but no seat. i couldn't tell if it was a bootleg or a super old low-cost model of the game.

it's kinda nuts when something that old turns up in the wild. the oldest cabinets i usually see are daytona usa, sega rally, and a marvel vs capcom one just the once.

There are two bar+arcades in my city that both have an outrun machine like that. I always make it a point to play it :)

So my $275 artbook pledge, will that get me the pysical PS4 version?

Seems everything $60 and above gets it

PS4 Physical Copy Reward Details:

All backers pledging for a $60 Reward tier or higher, will have the option of a PS4 Physical Copy as their platform choice.

After the Kickstarter finishes, a survey will be sent out to backers in these tiers to confirm your choice of platform. Choose one of the following:

1. PS4 Physical Copy

2. PS4 Digital Copy

3. Windows PC Physical Copy

4. Windows PC Digital Copy.

Backers who have pledged for a PC Physical Copy will not need to adjust their rewards if they would prefer a PS4 Physical Copy instead.

Payment will be accepted right when the Kickstarter ends. Addresses for shipping will be collected long after in a survey that will be emailed to you once they are ready to start receiving your information.

Thanks!
I was wondering because you can't write your shipping address in the Kickstarter profile.

i'd love to try the deluxe version of the original. i tried the deluxe outrun 2 years ago and it was a blast. i'd love to find afterburner and hang on too.

Lol at the kotaku article. Then i clicked on the authors twitter picture . Laughed again but even harder. What a pathetic silly little loser :).

Anyway went from the 30$ digital to 60 physical pledge.

Well, I'm not mad. If anything, I feel for ya! As a fan of Kotaku it's nice to know that you're frustrated, but just get someone to impress upon him to deal with his negativity (on Twitter, too) and then get back to enjoying the beach. Happy 4th!

Understand your frustration, though I think it says something about current editorial process if this guest freelancer is only one running the site today with the keys to the kingdom.

We should contact the guys involved and let them know we want add-ons. The ability to add extra copies to our existing pledge would be great.

Yes totally! It should be possible to buy the digital and physical edition with one account. I'm sure there's a lot of fans out there who would play via digital and keep their physical copy sealed.

Yeah that's exactly what I want would totally back that at 70-80 bucks.

this is a really great idea here, honestly - prolly get more than a few people to increase their support

There's still time to ask. I imagine a lot of people have already brought it up though...

I sent an ask in the day or two after the KS launched and got a reply about two weeks later. They must REALLY be swamped.

Average pledge went up to 85 dollars that's insane in a good way.

Matching Bloodstained's average now. And in terms of time aligned backer numbers, Shenmue III is almost 12000 backers ahead of where Bloodstained was at this point.

And come one guys, the Kotaku thing is annoying but Jason's clearly aware of it, he's usually a great guy both on Kotaku and in interacting with us on Neogaf. I don't believe that posting a critical post in his own site's comments is something he'd do lightly. Let us leave him to do his thing, enjoy his holiday weekend and get back to enjoying this fantastic day for the Shenmue III Kickstarter.
