Fighting Games Weekly | June 29 - Jul 5 | Frauds Among U.S.

Forgot to say, I got Chou in my Persona pool. He used to be one of the Narukami players I watched in 1.0 along with Shikki, and now I got to deal with his Ken, fun stuff. Was going to practice against some Ken stuff but my TV died.

I have no idea who Yuuji Miyamura/Geezer Jerk is in my Xrd pool though...

Why does it have to be vs anything? Just fill it with Capcom characters including some new people. Then make somebody look vaguely look and play like Magneto and you are done.

If you really only want Marvel people you could then read some comics or write some fanfics or something.

lol why is everyone saying CvS3?

SNK shut it down when Capcom approached them about it. Marvel is open to and gradually increasing third party licensing games again. It's cut and dry that MvC4 is more likely. Not only that, but if Capcom/Marvel found a bag of money they sure as hell would pursue MvC4 over CvS3 considering the franchises' historical success and sales. MvC4 is inevitable, it's pretty much just a timing thing and now is definitely not the time.

SNK also destroyed my favorite manga hi-score girl ;__;

I just want some marvel/tvc type gameplay.

Also didnt snk give weird ass reasons as to why they weren't interested? I remember hearing this

Look at the lineup for Playstation All Star something something and tell me Sony has plenty of high profile characters to contribute.

Cole from Infamous, Kratos, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Raiden and Sweet Tooth, that's about it. You need way more than that. Not even counting characters like Nathan Drake that would have the most boring movesets imaginable.

Just because that game didnt use them doesnt mean there isn't more characters out there. Sure, in some cases you may have to get a bit...creative with their movesets, but if Capcom can give us Phoenix Wright in UMVC3, I don't see why that would be a problem.

Nariko, Sir Daniel Fortesque, Knack, Parappa, Crash, hell put Sir Galahad from The Order in and have him play like Chris.

It's called the gaf marvel patch thank you very much

It's not just the license of Marvel characters holding MvC4 back but the absolutely shitty development of MvC3 that probably did way more damage

Do you really think Capcom wants another dev cycle where they're forced to move up a release date of a title and rush an unfinished game out the door because Marvel demanded it to coincide with fucking movies

That's not what happened. Capcom rushed out UMVC3 because their license was running out. It was either November release or release alongside SFxT for maximum cannibalization.

Or they could have moved UMvC3 to SFxT's release window and delayed SFxT so that the game wasn't half baked and a complete shitshow at launch.

I know publishers really don't like delaying games but it seems like both games could have used it (SFxT moreso).

I always wondered how Capcom decided the DLC release schedule for SFxT. Just a bunch of odd and dumb decisions that hurt that game.

Circumstances change, and also like Dahbomb said that's not what happened. The industry as a whole is so different from what it was back when MvC3 started development. Pre-Minecraft explosion and all.

A lot of these recurring worries are so unfounded. You can't make a game today without an aggressive post-release support plan unless you're robbing people on Kickstarter.

The biggest hurdles for MvC4 outside of funding is replacing the relationship Sven had with Marvel before he left Capcom that made MvC4 happen, and getting both the American and Japanese ends of Capcom to talk to each other better to prevent the issues that marred MvC3. The first is solved via a single phone call or meeting and for the second we've already seen great progress with titles since.

in the realm of Things Never Happening? I can see it after VJ3, but before MvC4, I agree
Those other two aren't even in the same tier category as DMC5. DMC5 has a very solid chance of being announced soon. VJ3 and MVC4 are pure pipe dreams with nothing to back them up currently (no hints, teases or support etc).

I thought DMC5 wasn't even that far-fetched of a possibility anymore.
It's not, VJ is just salty his insider dude lied to him making him look like a dummy.

I can see DMC5 because Capcom at least cares about that franchise, even if it releases only remasters and a misguided remake in DmC.

Viewtiful Joe has none of that, at all.

And for sm4sh I find default Palutena boring and I see the writing on the wall for customs so I'm bored of no customs metagame (at least for Palutena)..

I'm going to be pretty disappointed if customs get thrown out of tournament play after EVO and if a lot of people just stop using them entirely. :\

Customs aren't going completely away, there will always be regions and TOs that will be willing to host some custom tournaments if their playerbase requests it.

It not happening, but dudes who worship Vergil won't stop shouting BELIEVEEEEEEEE every week so it stays around in your mind

If someone put a gun to my head and made me choose between the three, dunno what I'd pick.

Given that she's built around it- is there an issue with "no customs, exeception for Palutena"? Or does she break things in that metagame?
