There should honestly just be two separate metas. Default being default is inevitable. Customs will most likely be an alternative thing.

At best that would result in the latter being just a much smaller side tournament thing, and at worst TOs would just never bother again. Knowing my local community the result sure as fuck wouldn't be the best case scenario =___=

Hell even with Evo we've literally only ever had one single event that's allowed them and that was entirely because of Evo.

Tekken Crash

Laugh on commentary...for some reason

I wanna play some tekken 7 right now

Given that she's built around it- is there an issue with "no customs, exeception for Palutena"? Or does she break things in that metagame?
She is one of the best examples of why customs are questionable. Super Speed and Lightweight are extraordinary. Super Speed is Spiral Swords levels of brain dead. Lightweight can leads to KOs at 70% when used right.

Honestly the idea of that happening has been making me unreasonably annoyed lately :/
Your top tier character wouldn't get to be tippity top tier anymore. :p

lmao

Palutena isn't even close to top 10 with customs, and lots of characters have super early kills "when used right"

the tendency of players to call the tools that allow low tier characters to actually become viable "jank" is amusing

Lightweight kills at 70ish percent for the lightest characters with rage. Other than that it kills around 90-100 percent. I don't know how it's so terrible for her to be able to actually have a kill set up when a lot of characters can jab into up smash around the same percent. And having a kill setup around a grab makes it easier for someone to shut that out.

So I'll be out at SDCC covering the Capcom and Namco panels like I do most years.

Is there anything else you guys want to see?
If you see combofiend there, tell him to come to Chicago so I can body him. But just get all the sf5 information you can get lol.

So I finally checked out the local FGC place here in Houston. It's pretty chill and the people were pretty dope. They had a Sm4sh tournament going on which was good.

I think I'll need to stop by and try to level up. It's not that far from home too.

Man I don't play smash but everything you say has the shittiest chip on shoulder type tone.

Who hurt you?

Like I said in the Smash topic, if you know how to fight Super Speed, it eliminates most of her approach options outside of her decent jab. She's a great character but she's hardly problematic with customs on.

A similar statement could be made about most customs people complain except maybe HSB really. Not that that'll stop the complaining or change anyone's mind.

And I would say it applies to most customs. I'm just not a fan of people being so ban happy or complaining when there's still so much to learn about the meta.

Man, watching this Xrd netplay.

Like I know I should wait for Revalator at this point, but it looks so fun.
If you want to jump in, honestly, it's a good time. Revelator isn't going to be dramatically changing the existing characters, so pretty much everything you learn now will still be applicable.

Unless you have your heart set on joining the Johnny army and nothing else will do.

It's pretty interesting comparing the philosophy on bans between the FGC and Smash communities.

An example is that for the most part, MKX players have embraced variations, Marvel players abuses assists, etc. But customs are such an issue in the Smash 4 community because there is a switch on the top right corner to turn customs on or off.

It's really a very fun game to watch. I want to say play too but I've been a fraud with it for quite some time now. :(

Definitely want to get my Elph up to scratch before Johnny drops though.

I have never played a GG game before, so Johnny wouldn't be an issue. Also, I have no idea who I'd play with. Probably Sol to start off with since he looks like the closest to the standard shoto character.

lol, fear I would have the same problem for a while.

Ky's more of the standard shoto -- he has an actual full-screen fireball -- but Sol's a good choice for starting out too. In some ways, he might be better for learning about the flow of GG's rushdown-heavy gameplay. Slayer and Sin also strike me as relatively straightforward characters for newer players if you wanna step a bit away from the shotos.

And let's not even get into Miis. My respect to all Mii mains having to deal with all that shit.
