I just realized the Rare Replay comes out the same day as the conference.

Perfect timing for another IP reboot announcement? Battletoads finally? Definitely expecting a second wave of BC games too.

Free for everyone in the audience.

I kinda hope we get that sooner.
Well Windows 10 releases on the 29th, and Gamescom is a week after that. Phil said the dashboard will come after Windows 10, so the earliest it could be for preview is probably in August.

Gamescom is coming up, if MS have anything else to announce from Rare, i'd be surprised if they didn't wait for that event

I thought he was referring to the general release. I would hope Preview Members get a chance to actually test features especially with a big overhaul like this. It may take a whole month or more to iron out some of the bugs.

Yea, two months of testing seems about right seeing this is a whole OS and not just a few features.

Are there any big events for MS this year after GC? I'm guessing they won't be at PGW or TGS too heavily. If GC is the last one then I would definitely expect at least one big announcement.

E3 and GC are the big focuses. Doubt they'll be at PGW and they have no reason to be at TGS.

I'm pretty sure I remember from the giant bomb interview with 343 that the windows 10 nxe on xb1 isn't supposed to launch until after halo 5 launchs, so in all likelihood the November update. Its likely that they could offer this early to preview members but I'd personally be surprised if it's released to preview members prior to October.

Hrmm. I had hoped they'd try to get it pushed out before the holiday timeframe to avoid any major issues.

Phil Spencer said he was hoping to have a relatively equal showing to E3. If so, definitely worth getting excited for. Can't wait to see Crackdown, loved the original.

I think one or two games might be delayed into 2017 (Rare Pirate MMO/ReCore) but it will be an improvement to the 9 months of nothing that happened this year.

Nah ReCore will be next year, it's set for Spring 2016, highly doubt it gets pushed to 2017. Phil said ReCore is playable in the offices and he has been playing it quite often. I think they've just chosen to wait to show gameplay till Gamescom or maybe PAX. Sea of Thieves will be 2017 though I agree with a beta in late 2016 more than likely.

We will have Quantom Break and ReCore in the first half of 2016 more than likely along with Cuphead and some other indie sized games.

Late 2016 will more than likely be Crackdown, Scalebound (septemberish is my guess) and Gears along with other stuff.

Sexy!

Crackdown, Quantum Break and Scalebound -- THAT'S what I wanted to see back in E3 (though I enjoyed Microsoft's presentation). Here's looking forward to it!

Yes, but there's a few things to consider. On Major's podcast, one of the Elite (controller) engineers said that the controller's remapping app will launch on Xbox One and it will not be synced in the cloud with the Windows 10 app for a little while. The controller is supposed to release in October. It could be October 31, but I assume they would want to get it out before Halo 5 comes out. I don't think they want to release it on the same day as Halo 5 either, because the two together would be expensive.
Major also mentioned on reddit yesterday that all he could say is the dashboard is releasing in a few months. If he used the word "few" on purpose, its meaning is two or three, which puts it September/October, but we know it is October given the discussion during the podcast about the remapping app.
Then there's also the fact that this is a whole OS that is to be tested, as opposed to a few new features, meaning more than one month of testing is plausible. If it was one month of testing with the public getting it in mid-October, preview members would get it by mid-September. But if it needs two months, then mid-August seems plausible again, and it would make for an epic Gamescom announcement, similar to E3's backwards compatibility "available now for testing".

Totally don't understand the hype for scalebound but I'll give it a chance.

Hoping ReCore gets a better showing.

Do you know who Hideki Kamiya is? He made Resident Evil 2, Viewtiful Joe, Okami, Devil May Cry, Wonderful 101, and on.

He is at the head of Scalebound, and he has said making this game is one his dreams because he used to love dragons when he was a child.

I expect Phil Spencer to walk on stage and announce 200+ new games for Xbox One 360 Backwards Compatibility.

I then expect Peter Moore to announce an assload of 360 games for the Vault.

I then expect to enjoy playing said games.

Oh wait, maybe this is where I heard it, that the windows 10 on xbox thing wasn't going to launch until after the elite controller which launchs at the end of October. They said remapping wouldn't be there until windows 10 which was going to launch shortly after that or something along those lines IRRC (which could be totally wrong given I already mixed which podcast I had heard that on).

But why knows for preview... we all have access to BC right now which is launching to everyone else later this year too.

Yes, exactly; however, the controller's date is not October 31, it is just October for now. I doubt they would release it really close to Halo, I think it will have to be in the first week of October, with the dashboard coming in the second week, and Halo 5 in the fourth week. At least that's what my deduction comes out to from all these different and somewhat incomplete sources.
I am really hoping for a Gamescom release for preview, though.

Wondering if anything they announce will be cross buy or just available for Windows 10.

At the moment, I think only Killer Instinct and Fable Legends is cross-buy AND cross-platform. Not sure why Minecraft isn't cross-buy. I wonder if Sea of Thieves will be cross-buy.

That doesn't mean anything to me at this point. I need to see some footage, I don't care for the look of that protagonist either. Hopefully, it's awesome come gamescom

What exactly is ReCore? Is it a full-fledged $60 game or something smaller? A CGI trailer announcement with a release less than a year later is very unusual for a big new IP (no I'm not counting Bloodborne as a new IP)

I'm interested only because it's the ex-Metroid Prime guys at Armature but I want to see what it is first.

Sea of Thieves won't release before 2017, you can count on that. Maybe we'll get a beta next year. Depending on how much they show of Crackdown next month that might miss 2016 as well.

Scalebound will be amazing though.

Not that this is set in stone, but MS Store has the Recore preorder up for $60

I don't really get the hype over Quantum Break but messing with time is often interesting for me, though moreso when it's plausible like in Interstellar. If Quantum Break manages to fit in real world physics regarding time, then color me interested, though I kind of doubt it as far as our current understanding of time goes, still could be interesting regardless. The gameplay itself has looked pretty standard but the shooting mechanics are some of the best I've ever seen. I'm excited to possibly get excited about this game since it's got a lot of potential of being a very good shooter with a possibly interesting premise.

So you get the hype? You said you dont then listed reasons why it looks great and promising.

Its not like they've really had any big announcements at GC for the past 3 years, unless you count the Tomb Raider crap, and its always only been E3-GC for them, some years they didn't even go and it was just E3 for the whole year.

Well, I don't get the "OMG it looks amazing" type of hype and I've seen people calling it GOTY 2016 or "one of the greatest games I've ever seen". I'm certainly not hyped to a hyperbolic degree. All that really excites me is the polished gunplay, the time related powers don't do much for me and the plot/sci-fi plot devices could go either way for me. Obviously can't say much about the story or what the sci-fi aspects will be like but I don't want to get my hopes up that they have some real world science to back most of it up since a lot of sci-fi that mess with time don't care about being consistent or making any bit of sense.

It's like watching Back to the Future, I enjoy the film immensely but I have to turn my brain off and I don't enjoy doing that. Sci-fi that asks you to turn your brain off is bad sci-fi IMO. I could obviously still enjoy the game like I enjoy Back to the Future. Well, knowing Remedy, I probably will enjoy the story. That first teaser we got way back at E3 2013 also had Lauren Stamile (Professor Slater) from Community in the live action sequence, and I LOVED HER in Community and so I guess I'm hyped to see what she does in the game/show.

Well, I'm sure if you were to ask them they'd say TR was a big announcement the same with Fable Legends which they announced at Gamescom 2013.

The problem they had particularly last year was that they didn't quite have enough to announce/show to hold them over between two events for long conferences, they made some decent progress towards it last year but they still needed more.

They have rectified that problem already, imo with a very decent E3 and at Gamescom we already have 2 unveilings, more QB stuff and a few other things we can guess might be there, it is shaping up to be a good show.

Fifa bundled for free in Europe was a big announcement.

Do we know this for sure? I hope it's not a character action game to be honest.

We don't. And I think I'm with you. I'd love this to be Okami with dragons. Meaning, an epic action adventure game.

I'm not going to complain if this is character action based though. I love everything Kamiya does.
