Backdashing is about the same, so everything should still work. Only sidestepping got a big nerf,

Is that b,b,d,b,b,d motion canceling a sidestep into the backdash? Or canceling a down motion?

If it's sidestep then I don't think you can cancel it anymore.

Yea i get a sidestep cancel, so it sounds like I actually have to learn how to do it properly in less than a week. Oh well, I'm technically halfway there lol.

i can understand people being frustrated with netplay in this day and age. my experience has been on par with bb and persona so idk what ppl are beefing with...some of these people play marvel netplay i know. reading this for me is just a big smh

Uhhh, I don't really know why I'm in that list since my post boils down to "I play it locally but I don't get regular competition because I have no money for PS online."

Came across this on wiki:

Interestingly, Abel's design had gone through a complete overhaul before the game's release. Abel was originally meant to be a small boy and judo fighter who could be mistaken for a girl, wearing his hair in pig tails, a top made of bandages, baggy blue pants, and sandals.

Talk about dodging a bullet.

Couple of players and info missing from being complete:

Chris T is ugcgamer (b17 pool)
Rockpon is Taiwanese
RB is likely Fu-pin Kao from Taiwan (c18)
BegetaminB (d9)
Abao - Dakou's Student/Yang player from China (d16)
Filipinoman (c14)
Fruit - sakura player from emirates (d25)
Ikatsui Yarou (c20)
Latif is from Saudi Arabia, not the Emirates

*Kyabetsu isn't going anymore

You have to admit it would have looked funny seeing the little kid tornado throwing opponents. That's if he had Abel's current moveset.

The concept art didnt look to bad

I think Abel would've been waaaaaaaay more popular with that design, personally. Also I'd probably have mained them because the moveset is cool and I adore the idea of a cute grappler :3
Also, the original description in japanese is "might be mistaken for a young girl". Could mean abel was a boy, but also could mean abel was actually an older woman. Doesn't matter much either way though :P

More games need cute grapplers over the hulking behemoth man archetype.

More fighting games need to mix up aesthetic archetype vs gameplay archetype in general. I find grappler design cool sometimes (Chada's updated Hugo-esque toolset is rad) but I always hate the aesthetic.

Yeah Bella is rad. Satsuki in Melty is a psudeo grappler and she's rad. It's happened but not enough. R Mika is waifu trash bin tier though.

Clark Still had a great desing, but then they ruined his and Ralf's designs by XII :c

That one girl in KoF, the sumo girl, was probably one of the biggest duds of cute girl grappler.

I don't think she was really popular lol

Edit: Badwolf's got it covered. I always forget her name.

Hinako. I'd have probably given her a shot but I wasn't playing KoF around the time she was in it :o
She might've been a bit too out there for most though, with her hunched over sumo pose and all XD
