I...I don't understand.
But I don't wanna be rude by asking this, but in all seriousness, what is the protocol for this? Is there anyone who was chosen to stand in for Iwata in case this happened since I imagine Nintendo probably felt this might be coming, until they can officially decide a new President? Who is the most likely person?
Someone shop the ribbon onto the wall.
Genyo Takeda and Miyamoto are the current representative Directors so I guess it will be one of them.
Don't mean to be disparaging in any way, but it will be interesting to hear some of the more behind-scenes stories that emerge after Iwata's death. Already some interesting facets about his immense influence and courageous decisions at the executive level are coming out...
This had to have been very unexpected considering he was still working right up until the end. :'-(
This really should happen. This is a gaming forum after all, and one of the top 3 guys in the industry is no longer with us.Can Gaf please change their logo to remember Iwata?

Iwata was a man who truly cared about games and cared about the people who make games.
I can't believe an image that I've laughed at for over a decade now fills me with sadness.
This is probably his last picture

Just saw the news. Shaking, feel like I'm going to cry...
The man was such a huge part of my life, year after year after year. I remember when my Grandmother passed during my law exams and my father was suffering from depression. The thing that got me through the two days of the funeral was looking forward to the E3 2005 conference, and all the joy, laughter and anticipation it would bring.
Nintendo is the only company I've ever had any emotional attachment to, and so much of that was down to the way Iwata ran things. I just... I just can't believe it. I'm just in complete denial.
Rest in peace Iwata, I can't imagine ever, ever seeing your like ever again.
Jesus I'm going to lie down, I can't handle this

We lost one of our own today.
It's easy to be flippant about death when it happens half a world away, and how you will go about your business tomorrow without a thought about Mr. Iwata and the amazing work he did that improved your life and mine.
Tomorrow PM, when you get ready to lay back and enjoy your night of gaming, think about Satoru Iwata and the positive impact he had on your life. He didn't cure some disease, nor did he create a wonder of the world.
What did Satoru Iwata do? He injected fun into a business that is, all too often, by the numbers. What DLC will you buy, what expansions will you purchase, will you be my bitch for $99.99?
These are not questions that Iwata asks. What Iwata asks is, did you have fun playing our games today, and did we bring some light into your life? That is all the man wanted; to be the president of a company that brings joy to as many as possible, for the least amount of money his shareholders will let him.
These are the questions Iwata asks. Good night, friend.
Could've sworn the dude looked a lot younger last year, what ever he had must have been serious![]()
