Suicide Squad Official Trailer Drop

Everyone in this movie will probably be dead in the end except Harley and Joker. That is how they will build them up to be in future movies like the new Batman and/or Justice League. Why else would they make this film part of the DCCU? There will have to be something to carry over. I don't think the
Joker killing Robin
stuff is enough to make it all worthwhile.

Nah, they have to leave a solid core of the cast alive so they can make a sequel if it does well. And then they'll have a few more surviving so they can appear in other movies. Enchantress will survive so they can make JLA: Dark, Katana will survive so they can make a Birds of Prey movie. Croc survives for a cameo in the Batman solo flick.

Not sure how people are going to react to the Harley torture. Will probably be lambasted.

I'm not even playing devil's advocate, I'm dead serious.

People don't react well to their relationship in the first place but I get why this would be particularly disturbing to some. I'm hoping she won't be playing his victim for the whole movie which might quell some of the sentiments that might come up.

The music in trailer, is it of any relevance to anything from comics, or just a "normal" song used for the trailer?

And.. what is the song? ;)

It's a chilling cover of BeeGee's "I started a joke"

I NEED to know who sang this. I think I'm in love.

>Gotta make sure they know I'm the rope guy
>Guys, my power is ropes
>Superman was a beacon, I'm no longer afraid to show the world my command over all things loopy and knotting
>Guys?

Shamelessly stolen joke but it made me laugh

Well, we don't even know if she will be tortured yet. But if that happens, it will depend on the portrait, if they will explicity show pain, crying and disturbing stuff.

Didn't Ayer rewrite the whole thing? Is Marks even credited?

Maybe he did, I remember people speaking highly of the Marks script (Tom Hardy said as much before he dropped out) but didn't keep up after that.

Rewrites or no, every line in the trailer seems to be characters dumping artless exposition or flat jokes with Will Smith taking the cake explaining the movie title.

It just rubs me the wrong way. It wouldn't be the first movie where a good ensemble saves a poor script but guess I expected more after the praise for the leaks and the Hardy interview.

You laugh now, but when he snaps Wonder Woman's neck with her lasso at the beginning of his solo film you'll eat your words. He'll be unstoppable, and he'll be the Thanos of the DC movie universe.

At the 1:58 mark, it's weird seeing the Joker without his green hair. Looks like we'll get to see him seduce and transform harley when she was his psychiatrist.

I'm in love with Harley. Looks like she is going to steal the show.

As for Joker, I'm liking how he acts/his mannerisms, but the look still hasn't won me over.

I'm sorry, but every single line of dialogue in that trailer is just... flat and on-the-nose.

And presumably this was their pick of punchy one-liners for marketing purposes. People are jizzing themselves over the Joker for delivering that clunker of a line? Really? There is none of the Joker's wry humor or menace, it's just a typical sociopath thing to say. Where is this Joker..?

I like the cast but this trailer paints the movie as run-of-the-mill fan fiction. The screen writer's pedigree is not inspiring me with confidence either.

something like "Not gonna lie. This won't be pleasant..." all airy and light, but then "for YOU." deep, menacing, and matter-of-fact is more Joker-like, imo.

Wow. Enjoyed the potato cam version when it dropped but..wow. Can't decide if this or the Batman V Superman Comic Con look are my favorite trailer to drop from the con.

Also...
"Warner Bros. Pictures and our anti-piracy team have worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours to contain the Suicide Squad footage that was pirated from Hall H on Saturday. We have been unable to achieve that goal. Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed. We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation."

I mean I sorta get it but...just from a cam recording you've got your film trending for 48 hours with fans and whatnot in fever pitch demanding and wanting to see the trailer and meanwhile we're supposed to believe the advertising guys are all "Darn them for leaking and causing a positive stir wanting to see our big advertising piece! Oh well I guess we have no choice but to release it darn it!." LOL

It does make me wonder what WB will do next year at SDCC but honestly if they don't want their shit leaking, and it always does, then come with a better game plan or don't bring any footage period. Star Wars did it right perfectly this year: Show up with your talent and main cast, showcase some footage that gets thrown up online for all to see and then treat your comic con attendees with something unique and one of a kind like taking everyone to a live Star Wars concert with the cast.

I think it was filmschoolrejects who said the same thing as a counter point to Deadline's article where studios will be pressuring SDCC next year to up their security. That isn't the answer.

I really really want to see this play out on the big screen.

I still reckon that would have been the plot of Dark Knight Rises had Ledger not died.

By now, you've probably heard about Jared Leto sharing some very strange gifts with his Suicide Squad co-stars. In the case of Margot Robbie (who will play Harley Quinn in the movie), she was gifted a rat, and tells Elle that "Rat Rat" was saved from certain death after a number of crew members suggested it would be a good idea to kill it! "If Harley [her character in Suicide Squad] got something from Joker, she'd probably cherish it," the 24 year old actress explained when asked why she decided to keep it. Check out photos from her Elle magazine spread below.

So this quote really got me: This is a professionally produced (and hype as hell) trailer that they intended to only distribute to a fraction of their intended audience. What's the point in showing it if it's going to be so exclusive? Maybe if they stated it'll be a "timed" exclusive just for the audience and be publicly release days later it might deter people from recording it, but that's a poorly worded statement IMO.

I can see Leto approaching Margot to help him go "method". :P

Looks a lot better than I expected. For a tease 13 months in advance, it definitely beats the Star Wars 7 one :P

Joker's suit, Harley's voice, and the Batman on the truck were all pretty cool

People are like really all about this huh?

I thought it looked kind of lame. I mean most of it looked fine enough, but I think Leto's Joker looks and sounds fucking stupid. Even his laugh was super underwhelming. The rest of it looks like ok but not exceptional.

test the waters with their target audience before testing the mass audience

This not-even-a-real-trailer "trailer" is better than most trailers out there. It's atmospheric as fuck and doesn't reveal much about the story. As it should be.

Let's fucking go!

Super jacked

Still salty about picking Killer Croc over King Shark, though. S'okay. There's still my Secret Six movie that will no doubt happen.

Well they need someone to die. Surely El Diablo will live on for the sequel.

Overall looks good, that definitely got me more pumped than the leak.

Really not feeling Leto's Joker. I get that same cringe I feel whenever I see bad Joker cosplay on youtube. Croc looked better in the stills, in motion he looks off. Also, they may as well just rename Deadshot to Will Smith.

God damn did they nail Harley and Amanda Waller though. Hopefully, Waller has a meaty part.

This sure is a boring trailer. Got to love exposition filled dinner scene combo'd into overly dramatic somber music with a side of slow fade shots of important characters doing a ton of nothing.

This movie has Jai Courtney.

Enough said.

Jai Courtney's gotten a bad rap he isn't that bad; not to say he is good but still.

My qualms with Leto's Joker have been mostly alleviated after this, I think he looks great and really suits the part. Do I think he'll be better than Ledger's Joker? Probably not, but who gives a shit. Every subsequent actor that plays a character isn't supposed to be trying to one-up them. They're all different takes.

That being said, I think the movie itself looks kinda... bad. Nothing about it really pulled me in. I feel like it's going to draw a crowd because Superhero Movie (well, Super Villan), and because Joker, but I don't think the movie itself will end up being that great.
