I'm in just for Robbie & Leto, they're looking great. Not all that interested in the other characters yet but hopefully that changes.

I don't understand... are they using the Joker to fight crime too? Or are the squad going after the Joker? ...or Batman? WTF is this?

Probably not. Either way, you can trust that the movie will make sense when it comes out. Personally, I'm quite glad that the whole plot and motivations haven't been spilled already.

He turned down Django because Django wasn't the one to
kill Calvin Candy.

And where does Batman fit in? Who is even playing him?

I feel like this is your first time looking into a 2016 DC film universe thread. We do not know where or how Batman fits into the movie but we expect it to be with regards to Harley's flashbacks/origin. Batman is being played by Ben Affleck, who plays the Batman in Batman vs Superman.

Well that looks shit loads better than expected. Hope Will Smith isn't playing grizzled family guy Will Smith again though :/
Be sad, because that's exactly who Floyd Lawton a.k.a. Deadshot is.

I literally just said how he (probably) fits in: Harley's backstory. If he extends to the rest of the film, it's probably because he's pursuing Joker and he becomes antagonistic towards the Squad.

He's played by Ben Affleck, because WB is trying to create the DC Cinematic Universe, and thus this movie connects to Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Because of this connection, he is played by the same actor who plays Batman in BvS because it's the same Batman as in that film.

You guys haven't seen anything yet. And I don't think you will till next year. Post work started on this movie literally a week ago or so.

Looks interesting and the Joker appears sufficiently creepy.

I can't remember where I saw it, but wasn't there a photo that was originally the rumored Joker? All I remember was a white face smiling towards the camera with their head on a table.

Well.... shit. My ignorance of most of the characters is showing lol. I was hoping he was playing an actual bad person, or at least doing something interesting as an actor. Oh well, movie still looks interesting.

When he takes up the Deadshot persona he can a right royal cunt, a good one too. But his "civilian" persona is that of a dad trying to take care of his daughter.

Floyd does really dirty, downright evil shit in order to make money to support and care for his daughter, who is the only thing in this world that makes him even remotely happy. As Deadshot, he's a hitman (a really good one) who is dead inside. He's also very egotistical about his title as "World's Greatest Assassin." The depiction dictates on how extreme his ego is.

As Floyd, he's a family man. He shares custody with his wife, though I believe his time he gets to spend is incredibly limited.

I really like the character.

All I want is a scene where it becomes something like a horror movie, where the team is picked off one by one, and the scary monster in the dark is Batman.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess they're fighting against something many of them agree with. Batman warns Waller about Joker. Joker manipulates them all into some terrible circumstance with Harley happily helping behind the scenes so to speak. I can't imagine it playing out any other way. The government is willingly placing the Joker of all people into a group of highly motivated sociopaths. There are only a few ways this can play out.

Joker isn't on the team

As has been said numerous times even on this very page, joker isn't part of the team.

first thing that came to my head when i saw the fresh prince was "fuck will smith". not because i dont like him, i think hes a swell guy/actor. but because it just looks like he doesnt fit in the film. but margot robbie, forever my duchess.

I think WB could possibly have a rather large commercial success on their hands with this. 7500000 views for a trailer in under 24 hours, coupled with the other 7500000 million the leaked trailer got. That pretty insane for a property not in the mainstream public consciousness.

Plus if BvS is a massive success, then this film will get a good boost anyway.

If they market this right, I could easily see it doing close to Guardians of the Galaxy numbers, give or take a bit

And any of us know this how? At 2:14 he is seen walking behind a government-agent looking guy. He's in the film, based on a team of villains being recruited because they're "the worst". He is featured in a scene involving both Batman and Harley, a prominent character in the film. Again, how do you or anyone not related to the actual production know he won't be part of this team at some point? He could end up being the fucking star for all we know.

Some people read the comics.

Jared Leto and Wonder Woman will definitely bring in more female fans to the superhero box office

And when have comics ever exactly squared with what ends up in the adaptations on film? Sure, Batman is named Bruce Wayne and wears a bat suit. Etc. Almost none of the minor or even major details related to narrative or plot.

The same reason we can assume Superman won't be running any kids through with street signs.

After Suicide Squad they'll probably make a Joker and Harley film
A Joker/Harley film would basically amount to two hours of domestic abuse. A Harley solo film though, with guest appearances from Poison Ivy? That I could be into.

Wow....that looked amazingly good...2016 is going to be too deadly, not sure if my heart can take it...seriously, these guys have 0 chill....I am curious to see how Leto's Joker and Affleck's Batman interact.

For what it's worth the director has been hyping that "...it's all about canon, it's all about being faithful to the source material..." Good vs Evil is played out, it's about bad vs evil, etc

And we've already seen an animated version so it will probably be familiar territory for fans

My point stands.
Not really. Considering that

1) We already got a similar movie (Assault on Arkham), where Joker is the chaotic force that fucks everything up and messes with the Squad
2) Joker has never been part of the Squad, has never been able to be controlled, and tends to be the force that fucks everything up for heroes and other villians alike
3) Superhero movies may not be exact adaptions, but do tend to follow the general framework of the source material and draw major ideas and elements

It's safe to say Joker isn't on the team and will be fucking with the Squad.
