She sells more merchandise than any other female superhero character apparently. I don't quite get the popularity but it's there.
Lol people were hating on him and his son long before that.
Her popularity is huge. I don't get it, but it's definitely there already.

He doesn't actually look old though, as far as we've seen this Joker could be in his mid 20s.
Also, I think Joker having tortured Robin until he went crazy and then getting killed, maybe by Robin himself, kind of goes in line with the Joker torturing Harley until she becomes who she is.
Also, in BvS Bruce gets the "You let your family die!" letter, which could fit with this idea (Robin being figuratively dead), and the tattoos on the joker + the writing on the burned suit kinda fit together too.
Again I doubt they would do it, but it would be a good way to get Robin and the Joker's backstories out of the way, it would basically tell the audience "yeah yeah Batman and the Joker fought each other many times, Robin was there too, and now Robin has gone nuts and the real Joker is dead". You don't even need any details, the audience just gets it and you got all the emotional investment for pretty much free.
I think it's a good idea, but I doubt it will be the case.

Dude that's by people in the know. I understand that she's popular that doesn't mean she's known by the general public.
Case in point and purely Annecdotal, I'm at a family dinner, about 33 people here with ages ranging from 6 - 72. I've asked at least 50% of them if they know who Harley Quinn is, I followed that up with if they know who the Joker is. I got 4 positive for Harley and 100% on the Joker. The 4 that knew who Harley was were under 22 yrs.

With Wonder Woman having such an important role in the DCEU, none of the female leads will die. I'm pretty sure. Katana and Harley are quite popular and Enchantress will be back for JLD. As for the guys, Diablo will sacrifice himself for the team and Slipknot will probably be the first to go. Killer Croc might get killed, but then his body will disappear and he will have slipped away into a sewer or something. Rick Flagg... yeah he'll probably bite it as well after the team finds out he is double-crossing them.

idk where all this talk of a Rick Flagg double cross is coming from, considering Hardy was originally going to get the role (so no way WB would make him a one and done), and he has no history of this in the comics.

something about this joker is just not doing it for me, it doesn't feel like a bad job, it just feels like a joker similiar to young justice, where you see it is trying to be joker but he doesn't have his charm or special factor, he is just a normal villain. When i saw pics of heaths joker, i was negative but when i saw the first trailer with him in it, i was thinking "now THAT is a scary and awesome joker", not feeling that at all with leto, i still see it as leto prentending to be joker. hope im wrong though
I feel like Enchantress is the one character whose death can be instantly overcome by the next film they need her in. Justice League Dark could just have her back from the dead because, I dunno, magic shit, and they're fine. Anyone else needs the vague possibility of them coming back established here.

I've never thought of Joker as a rapist. A violent, brutal asshole, yes. But never one to sexualize anything in any sense. Maybe strip someone to humiliate them, but not out of any sexual nature.
Depicting the Joker as a rapist is a really poor depiction of the character, honestly.
As such, I'd like to believe nothing about it will be sexualized.

damn...different strokes then. i think she's gorgeous, unconventionally attractive because of the eyebrows but she makes it work imo.
anyways i've got mixed feelings on batman v superman trailer (i like a lot in there and some things i'm meh about) but this one...just 100% for me. love the tone, the music, the way it's shot etc.
i hope what we're seeing here is very indicative of the final product.
