Hulk with the right assists is really terrifying to play against. It's funny to think that if not for KBR (and Jan to an extent), people would think Hulk was unviable. There are a lot of characters who haven't really yet had a chance to shine due to a lack of specialist lab monsters grinding it out with them.

Just look at all the Dans and Dee Jays we have in SF, it's insane. Or all those top players using Roll in MvC2 like Yipes, Justin, Sanford, Chris Schmidt, Chunksta, Fanatiq, etc.

KBR's team stops the bullshit raw offense in the game. Any team that forces people to stop playing their way makes them salty.
When Viscant won, people cried about Phoenix. When Morridoom first broke, people were crying about zoning killing the momentum and being unhype. People were bitching about Zak Bennett and Apologyman's teams when they started perfecting people with the Firebrand setup.

How is KBR's team not smart play? Hulk isn't exactly the character that has no vulnerabilities.
People were saying the same shit about Chris G's team when it was at it's peak. "The way his team is set up lets him have control and makes the opponent think on another level."
Uh yeah, that's kind of the point of fighting games. And Marvel's always been busted. It's so fun and super hype, and raw skill does indeed previal often, but on a competitive level it's always been about finding a team that hopefully just completely fucks up the opponent. I don't see how high level players are possibly talking shit about this.

TBH, if RayRay played Magneto like Champ does, he probably would of done much better but he wants to rush with Mags like 99% of Mags players. We understand his rush is swag but against things like Hulk and Haggar stay away and projectile them and push them back with repulsion.
Yeah- Champ's more cautious/lame Magneto style is much better suited to fighting a team like KBR's.
Clock, Angelic and Neo also did.

Your worshipping of the "gods" of Marvel is tiring to read tbh. Nobody else in FGW fetishizes these players like you do and your shtick is getting old.
Champ's Magneto made me really believe that a Haggar will never win a major, especially coz Champ takes the time to snap the assists in, kill them first, then attraction/repulsion the Haggar across the stage while taunting him till the time runs out.

For a lot of people, getting a lot of good competition at their level (large player base) is worth putting up with a game they would normally only/barely tolerate.
Exactly why it's sweet that America got bopped. This cliqishness is something that needs to be grown out of.
Confounding player skill and team/character potential has been a huge epidemic in Marvel 3 from release and it's a big reason I don't get involved with those discussions anymore. It's circular. Everything is trash until someone does something with it, at that point it's a gimmick. Then, you must win a few majors at which point after a brief moment of it being really good it's cheap and destroying Marvel.
This is also a big reason why Viscant is one of the best voices for the state of the game and why people respect him, because he's one of the closest to an objective baseline for evaluation of characters. Yipes is pretty good too, along with other players who have tried digging their own teeth into every character.

Yeah, one thing about Marvel is that the game is so aggressive that some fundamentals fall away. You see folks getting hit because they overextended, or not getting a simple punish or advantage because it wasn't done with an assist backing them. Going back to Street Fighter always refreshes that stuff for me.

Finally back, had a lot of fun as expected. It was great seeing people again, and meeting new people. It seems like there were a lot more to meet though, and I didn't get to hang with the ones I met enough. Gotta do better next year.
I went 2-2 in Persona, 1-2 in Xrd and Catherine, and 0-2 in everything else. Better than expected, but still dissatisfying.
Next year I plan to make it out of pools.

KBR is exactly the type of person that people should be happy for winning. The dude has been putting in work for years coming from a foreign country to play anyone around the US, helped the Marvel scene grow in Japan, and has now vindicated all the time, money, and effort that he's put in.
It's a shame that certain players want to take that away with their childish behavior, or feel "disgusted" because someone from the clique didn't win because they got that ass busted before reaching top 8.
You can't even be mad at his team because MVC3 is full of bullshit, and he's been playing the same damn team for years. Either EVO is going to be the wakeup call to make other players hungry, or it will be the final nail in the coffin. If it dies, I can't think of a more deserving person to go out on top.

So anyway, a little salty at myself for not making it out of Persona pools. I should have played way better than I did. I got bopped by that Marie player (used Buttface as his handle but I know he uses a different name) when I should have easily beaten him then lsoing to Huey253's Narukami shenanigans after I beat his actual main, Aigis was like ORZ.
I played like shit in SF4, went 2-2 when I could have made it a bit farther. I dropped my first match but I lost to a legit Gen from Mexico that knew the match well.
Went 0-2 in MKX and Xrd, to be expected lol.
