Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift have BAD BLOOD on Twitter

Remember that time Taylor broke out her vanilla dance moves @ the awards between an American Idol contestant and I-totally-didn't-pay-her-$$$-to-be-my-friend Lorde?

Jason DeRulo like "just don't make eye contact with her and maybe she'll stop"

Minaj clearly talking about T.Swift here. No need to "didn't say a word about you"

So I haven't seen all these videos, but is it possible that the videos made by the men on the list glamourize thin women as love interests or the attractive for the songs? If so her tweet is broad and not really directly about taylor

I think those first links were kinda the point. Instead of that, slam streaming services for their low pay. Why focus so heavily and negatively on the rich people on stage supporting something you say you support (M&TD link) when they could have slammed that and then focused on the point they're trying to make. We all know there are rich people behind all of these services, so the transparency is a big problem? If indie artists are supporting it, wouldn't you be glad you have big people supporting a program because that would hopefully mean more people get behind it?

That's so weird to me. These are musicians upset that big artists are working to make sure they all get paid more and instead of supporting it to push people to the service, they call it out. That's dumb as hell to me. None of these streaming services are owned by small companies or people struggling, but there was only one actively trying to make sure artists get paid and it's a problem because they brought famous people out to appeal to the most people?

Along with exclusive music(videos), behind the scenes stuff, first sale on tickets for concerts and all the other stuff they talked about. It didn't really bother

I think it's a mixture of both. Not saying the marketing campaign was great, but I also believe race played a factor in the way people slammed it, too.
Low paying streaming services, like Spotify, do get slammed for low payouts. Tidal wasn't criticized for that, but it was for other reasons, like charging a very high rate for higher quality audio. When you couple that with its conglomerate of rich owners, it's ripe for criticism. I think if Apple or Swift tried that same business model, they would receive the same negative feedback from indies and the media.

And this is beside my point, but I think the general public just honestly does not care about how little most artists are paid (i.e. not the owners of Tidal). If they did, Spotify's free tier wouldn't be as popular as it is today and pirating would never have ever existed. So Tidal's selling point of higher payouts fell to unsympathetic ears.

Did Taylor jump to a conclusion? Did Nicki mean someone else? Hmmm I really don't know.

Taylor is a woman with a "very slim body" and her video was nominated for video of the year. No other nominees fit that profile.

Even if by some miracle Nicki did not mean Taylor specifically, Taylor still has the right to be offended since she fits into that profile of what Nicki considers upsetting.

Nicki Minaj is wack.

Playing the race card and dissing my girl Taylor.

Please don't blame racism for not winning an award with that garbage song Anaconda.
Especially when the original Baby Got Back is 1000x better.

Casual fans (aka where most of the money comes from) don't care about artist payouts because all they see is the fame and fancy cars, clothes, etc..

Fans that know just how little artists make from labels don't give a shit about a label making a bigger cut from streaming because they know that a larger cut to the label doesn't necessarily mean the artist gets paid more AND they know that artists make the lionshare of their money from touring and merch.

NICKI MINAJ ‏@NICKIMINAJ

I'm so glad u guys get to see how this stuff works. Taylor took her music off spotify and was applauded. We launched Tidal & were dragged.

PREACH

multimillionaires launch competing service purely to make more money

vs

one artist using her leverage to get millions of smaller artists paid for 3 months

Yeah and if she wasn't referring to her she should just come out and say who she was referring to then. Why the innuendo to being with tbqh

So I Googled a bit to understand the situation more clearly (because reading the events on Twitter makes my head hurt).

So Nicki kinda made a cryptic comment about black women being unappreciated by the media and Taylor misunderstood and thought that the comment was about about her? And now the fans are going at it?

But in all fairness, if I were Taylor, I would have assumed that the tweet was about me, too. She was talking about "women with very slim bodies", sooooooo....

But Nicki clarified and said that it WASN'T about Taylor, soooooooo......

I have no idea what's going on, but it's pretty entertaining. People really lose their shit over this stuff.

Popular black woman throws thinly veiled shade at popular white media (using popular white woman as example), white woman gets emotional and offended for no reason, black woman denies everything, media portrays them predictably, black woman says dumb shit about TIDAL.

The tweet was about her... but it wasn't ABOUT HER, if you know what I mean.

Nicki Minaj is a two-faced bitch lol saying in her main tweets why media isn't writing about her saying she loves Taylor, meanwhile in her favorites she's favoriting tweets calling Taylor a shady cunt.

Taylor shouldnt've got involved (even though the tweet she replied to was Nicki skinny-shaming, Nicki since removed that tweet and made it out to be a racial issue which is not at all what Taylor was responding to) but Nicki is handling it terribly, constant favoriting and retweeting the shadiest shit (Taylor never even followed you too, so idk why she liked that tweet about her unfollowing) and Taylor hasn't done anything since her tweet.

Oh look, pop stars behaving like children on twitter!

Both these girls have artistically shit videos though so neither deserves anything, but pop is just a popularity contest so who knows.
