I just got home. Is the beta supposed to be working now? Because I can't get in.
Nope, Capcom took the beta severs down until further notice.
Oh it's definitely working. It's working as intended and design.I just got home. Is the beta supposed to be working now? Because I can't get in.
Two questions:
Is it too late to pre-order SFV (from Amazon) for beta access?
Is USF4 fixed on PS4? (I know this has probably been asked like a million times, sorry)
As a title screen simulator.Oh it's definitely working. It's working as intended and design.

I don't get it, are you saying they shouldn't have tried to test massive userloads prior to release?

honestly I was fine with them taking it down yesterday and working on the issues, but damn for them to suspend the beta it's like there was nothing really in place to begin with or no real internal testing. Capcom blue balled me on this

Oh wait I am sorry, I meant to say "working as intended/design".
They should let people play training mode until the servers are back up.
Oh shit here comes the school yard insults.when did you turn in to a 6 year old?
Always bizarre to see a grown adult throwing a temper tantrum over a video game.when did you turn in to a 6 year old?

I mean of course it's going to come down to this, it's hard to defend this "beta" in its current state. Like I have played alphas that were more playable than this.
I have a friend who was doing some testing the week before strictly for testers to try to prep the beta for public release. It had some issues but was working by the end of the internal testing time. The reality is that you can't simulate this extreme of a serverload without putting it out there for public release. If this massive serverload is what broke it, then it's a good thing they did this a solid 7-8 months prior to release so it can be worked on and improved. No simulation would be accurate to these results.
I get being annoyed/frustrated at the issue, but jesus christ people have no scope or perspective on why it's a good thing this was caught now.
Shout outs to Mass Effect 3's black screen glitch.
It's difficult to test netcode when you can't even get a match. The beta needs to fix that if they want to receive any test data, otherwise it's a waste.
Patch corrupted certain save files, game would not boot on 360 as it would freeze on a black screen after the 360 logo, effectively making your disc and/or save useless. People could not play their game period. Gigantic thread about it on their forum and all, but got little to no media coverage so it was kind of swept under the rug/nobody heard about it and then it was fixed like 9 months later. What happened?
I didn't play the closed beta to comment on its functionality. Most people didn't. I played the open beta, it didn't work (well played 5 minutes of training mode Ryu).
How are they receiving test data for actual game matches when there aren't actual game matches being played?Good news then, cause this is what they're doing.
It's open beta in the sense that anyone can just play it. Close betas are usually invite only, you apply for it and the developer sends out keys in clusters at their own rate (so they don't give out 2 million free keys at once). There's no restriction to the number of players who are willing to try it out that isn't gated by the developer.Isn't this still the closed beta? I'm pretty sure since I beta tested a lot of other online games because closed implies that there are limited amount of keys given out or if you have to be given exclusive access (such as pre-ordering or an early adopter/founder like for archeage or something). Open betas are usually public and function more like demos people are used too, I was in the open beta for Tera for free and that started as a sub game.
No it is not too late, yes USF4 is pretty good on PS4. It's not 100% perfect but tbh it's good enough for most usage. I've only played locals though, can't speak for netcode or matchmaking/playerbase online
If there's one thing that's consistent about gamer backlash, it seems to be a general ignorance of what game development is like. From projects not being static over time, to working conditions (including unpaid overtime and perhaps how the psychological effects of that can translate into a product), to how many different parties are involved, to the time it takes to do things in general.
I pretty much always give devs the benefit of the doubt in light of working conditions alone, although it can get frustrating if it's been like a year and your game can't boot anymore but devs have other priorities. Shout outs to Mass Effect 3's black screen glitch.

That is why Blizzard does these alphas/betas by sending out limited keys. They start it as early as alpha (like Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm both of which I was a part of) and they slowly increase the number of keys.
You don't understand! How are 100s of pages of fake patch notes going to be written if we can't watch other people play the game?

And they get roasted every single time they do (rightfully so). Though the Hearthstone launch was pretty good by most accounts even the mobile launch.Yet blizzard still fucks up every major launch the same way this beta has.
