Arena shooters are about maintaining control of those power weapons and Power-ups. It's what takes the skill, not necessarily shooting a Rocket.I was playing team Doubles a couple nights ago. One match was Halo 2 on Ivory Tower. The power weapons spawned, about every 60 seconds. The enemy team got about 12 kills total with Rockets alone, with the rest being with the Sniper + Sword + Overshields.
Next match was Halo 4. The power weapons only spawned ONCE per match. Meaning the game actually relied on skill of your weapon, rather then just blowing them up with rockets the entire match.
I don't understand why Halo 4 on 360, or Halo 2, or Halo:CE make the power weapons spawn 10 times a match. Any skill is practically thrown at the window. Anyone can get kills with rockets. Having a sniper with 20 bullets in it puts you at an immediate advantage, for basically the entire game. As of right now, Halo 4 in MCC is miles better then Halo 2A/Halo 2 classic.
That being said, Halo 2 handled power weapons poorly because new ones won't spawn if you're holding them. Makes it more problematic for Doubles because it's easier to do that compared to 4v4's. This "skill with a nonpower weapon" being more important to focus on isn't really a good argument in Halo considering how important Power-ups and power weapons are to this franchise.
Power-ups and power weapons need to remain as a strong focus for Halo games, not just BRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBR. And by the way, shooting a BR doesn't necessarily take more skill than shooting a Rocket either, with its high aim assist and ability to sweep for headshots ;b
