Sega PC ports campaign continues with petition (Vanquish, Bayonetta, VF5)

Of course someone need to get in touch with them first (that would be hard enough on its own I imagine) and arrange how much money is needed to do a competent port of game X or Y and how much an individual backer needs to pledge to be entitled to a copy of the game.

BUT SEGA WON'T DO SHIT ON THEIR OWN. That's why this frustrating thread exists in the first place.

You're no beggar, but I am. The fucking PC platform and its lack of a traditional platform holder makes me one.

Funnily enough wasn't the reason we got 3 more SEGA Classics on the 3DS because the sales got better for the previous releases?
SEGA could always release classics in like 6 month intervals, no need to rush and saturate the market with $20/$30 priced games every 2-3 months.

Do take note though that V. Chronicles on Steam is nearing 500,000 sales

What are it's WW sales on PS3 so far?

Well, Vanquish might be coming. If they were waiting for VC numbers in order to port something else, it's still a bit too early for it (or whatever may be next) to be finished, and it's not like these things need a six-month-long hype campaign. Let's see what October brings.

EDIT: 350k-ish JP+US IIRC. Probably another 100k at best if we add Europe considering it was English-only.

Isn't gamescom also PC-centric?

From my memory:
Japan PS3: 70k first week, 140k total
NA PS3: 33k first week, ??? total
Europe PS3: ???
There was a bizarre nebulous statement from Sega America about how sales of VC1 in NA increased "four times in April" but that was 6 months after its release when sales of these games are normally heavily front loaded.

I was thinking about asking around to see if I could get actual lifetime sales data of the title in NA but no one has them.

Someone mentioned to me last November that Sega would space out their port releases for PC every November. I find this hard to believe, but as every month goes by, it's looking closer to reality.

Given that European branches of companies are leading the charge for ports onto PC, it wouldn't surprise me if this was actually a good place to keep an eye out.

I'm afraid so, haha. Either Vanquish or VF5 are the most likely candidates given ease of porting and whatnot, but who knows, after last year's amazing surprise maybe they'll reverse-engineer Panzer Dragoon Saga and release it.
I'm good with any of those games, but Vanquish is absolutely my most wanted game.

When was VC announced again, October? I'm hoping they reveal something near or at Gamescom. They said they'd be at e3 with PC partners but I was hoping for more than their usual PC studios.

Ultimately it's Sega's responsibility now to take action. The fans really shouldn't have to do anything more since they've already demonstrated demand multiple times over. If they just want to sit around and do nothing after all the evidence that shows what people want then they can keep sitting around and doing nothing. I'm no beggar.

Japanese companies can be incredibly oblivious to the PC market (and other trends/platforms foreign to Japan), to the point where it's almost as if somebody isn't doing their job correctly. A good example would be how around 40% of Dark Souls total worldwide audience was on PC and yet the platform was barely serviced eight months after launch with a notoriously cheap port. Somebody's job was to evaluate the viability of potential markets at Konami/From, how could that person miss 40% of their potential customer base? To many business, that would be straight up incompetency to not foresee that. In reality cultural bubbles, lack of experience and lack of interest creates a much larger communications barrier with Japanese developers than most people expect. I wouldn't take it that SoJ knows that there's a market for their games on PC just yet.

Sales on steam could mean $5 sales as well. I guess what I'm trying to say is all sales numbers are not equal. I guess they're getting the games in as many people's hands as possible

I remember it being leaked here on GAF back in 09/10 or something and had Valkyria somewhere between 120k - 150k for the US. My memory is pretty hazy on this but I know the figure was 100k region.

(I saved it on my external hard drive but can't find it anymore, it was cool because it had data on games like Sonic Unleashed, Eternal Soneta, 3D Dot Hero etc)

Good luck if you can find it; I think it's important that we archive any data we get for the NA side, including from leakers.

Final US sales seem to be hovering around 200k. Word of mouth really did wonders once it hit bargain bins it seems.
Not so much for VC2 though!

Interesting to see the long tail for it to go past 200k.
It's hard to make the call for what should happen to this series in the future based on the numbers we have for all platforms & regions for VC1.

That being said... it looks like it was the PSP platform that truly did kill VC in the West like everyone proclaimed for years. It probably wouldn't have even mattered if VC2 was a good game instead of the embarrassment it was. Not only did the platform choice prevent the third game from coming out here but now it's stuck as piece of software on an obsolete platform which is being propped up by the Vita which has even less of a hardcore fan presence for PSP digital titles.

I'm really interested in seeing SEGA's next move for this series, if they have one at all, though I'm fairly certain this is the last we'll get of the series. I personally don't think the PC sales were monumental enough to create a shift in opinion to get any ball rolling at SEGA. :(

I'd sign this petition, but not a single game I want ported is listed. :c

The Initial D games, Daytona USA, Jet Set Radio Future, Shenmue? Why not any of these?

Vanquish or VF5 would both blow my motherfucking mind. Two of my favorite games.

Would also like to see Sega finally put their stuff on GOG, but you can't have everything.

Never signed a petition before, but this is something they actually should consider.

-Persona
-Shenmue
-Catherine
-Vanquish
-Bayonetta
-Jet Set Radio

etc Should all come to steam. This includes upcoming games like Persona 5. Of course Shenmue III has already been confirmed for PC so no need asking for that.

I would like to see Sega dip into some of the Atlus catalog to port to PC, any of the more recent Shin Megami Tensei or Persona games would be great to see on Steam. They could easily turn a profit on Persona 4 Golden even if they did a direct port with minor graphical updates. Porting a Persona game makes more sense now than any other Atlus (or Sega) property right now since it could benefit from the hype that Persona 5 is getting.

It really makes you wonder whats going on over at Sega when their games for summer release are Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax and TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT (made by Game Freak the Devs of Pokemon btw), while letting other well known IP sit and do nothing. I get that its good for a company to foster new content and ideas, but its also giid to reflect on previous titles that fans want more of as well.

Glad to see this thread is getting some activity again as the number of signatures closes in on 15,000.

I'm still really rooting for the games mentioned in the petition (Bayo, Vanquish, VF5) but I'd love to see a Yakuza game on PC someday. Considering Binary Domain's presence on PC (same engine as the recent Yakuza games iirc) and the success of Sleeping Dogs (another open world game with an authentic feeling setting and an emphasis on melee combat and side content) it seems like a PC release could be a no brainer.

Jet Set Radio Future would be great too, since Jet Set Radio seemed to do okayish on Steam.

Honestly, I really hope that Sega's PC ports going forward can strike a good balance between porting the rest of the classics we all want - And getting VC's sequels ported and localized to capitalize on the fresh and interested fanbase it's gotten on Steam.

That goes for almost every japanese company, but not SEGA. They make most of their gaming money on PC now with Football manager and the Total War series. Then there are more than competent ports of their back library and free ongoing PC exclusive DLC for games like Sonic Racing...

They could still do better, but they are building goodwill and fast at that. VC sold almost 500k at a minimum of 5$. And as far as we know it was a port job done with a minimum of personal involved and almost 0 marketing at that. And it opened the door to port it back to PS4/XB1/future platforms if the necessity arrives.
Other games will be released, I'm sure of it. It's just a question of when. The guys who did VC should be working on something, even if it's not announced as of yet.

I really wish Sega to port Panzer Dragoon Saga to Steam. It's true that they lost all the data of the original game, thus making further ports impossible? Sad if true.

Vanquish is an amazing game i hope it gets ported. The game already feel good to play at 30 i'm salivating to play it at 60. I haven't seen a 3ds person shooter like it anywhere else. A bit on the shorter side but sweet. Primarily a single player person but i do wish that game had some form of multiplayer. I will never get tired of posting this. I hope a sequel is on the way, but knowing P*...

Actually SEGA EU promoted that some of their upcoming games will be shown at Gamescom, so...cross your fingers everybody X3

Honestly even if it's just the M2 ports that were released on PS3 and 360 a few years ago I'ld be pleased as those are fucking awesome ports.

I have no information on this myself, but for some reason the "we lost the data" story always seemed a bit too easy an answer to me. I mean, really? They actually just lost the master data?

It would be cool if a journalist could dig into the Panzer Dragoon situation some more to verify things, no?
