Sega PC ports campaign continues with petition (Vanquish, Bayonetta, VF5)

Valkyria chronicles sold more than 250k according to steam spy. That means the game probably made Sega more than $3 million after Valve took their cut.

Unless Sega somehow hate money or still think it's unfeasible to port their other games to Steam that's up to them.

Your bump made me sad, I thought there was news :(

Still hoping for Vanquish.

I have a dream. It involves Sega renewing the Ferrari license, updating the game a bit (not sure if the original version supported 16:9 and controllers natively) and me buying Outrun 2 on Steam.

^ I think that revenue estimate is a bit generous considering it probably had the most downloads during the 50% and 66% off sale.

I don't think it sold that well before that because they dropped the price pretty quickly from 25 to 50 to 66% off compared to other steam titles.

I bought it during the xmas sale for 25% off and was pretty surprised to see it drop 66% in a sale in less than 6 months.

Yeah, It was just a guesstimate. But we know that the game sold 200,000 copies in 2014 before it was 66% off.

Not bad, any idea if most of those downloads were purchased in the U.S or super euro land?

Hm... sadly, I do not think there is a way to tell which region made the purchases.

Thanks to the 50% + 66% off sales I bought the game for everyone on my friends list though. Steam is useful like that.

It's fine with both. Only issue is the 2D UI is low res and looks off if you display it in widescreen.

From Steamspy:

The margin of error on this will be pretty big, but it's the best guess we're going to get.

And that it's not on Steam anymore. Thankfully I got it, but I suspect a lot of people who want it now, don't.

Oh yes its a huge shame its not available anymore. I'd be happy even if it was a Ferrari-less skin swap version. I don't see the licensed content as important, any nice looking generic sports car models will do.

You and me both buddy...sigh...though mine involves an announcement for Outrun 3 as well. I mean, 2016 would be the perfect time to re-release Outrun 2006, right? And as for Outrun 3: arcades everywhere still have Outrun 2(SP) more often than not (as one of the most played games it seems even), and arcade games are coming back in a way in Japan, so why not bring this series back to arcades and then consoles?

Yep, this would be ok with me as well!

I could stave off my need for vf6 for at least another year if 5FS came to Steam. don't let your kids starve, sega

Even if that actually only yield $1.5mil, that still a pretty sweet money that they won't get otherwise. I can't imagine the port cost to be more than let say, $500k (might be too much).
No marketing, no new content aside graphic setting, just use old stuffs found in their attic.
Not porting their other older, but sought after, titles might be an actual symptom of allergic to money.

Heck, I know it is small sum compared to their mobile titles, but at least put some effort to it Sega.

VF is probably my most wanted as well. I got friends that ditched their consoles and I want to play VF online with them again.

What I want the most is Jet Set Radio Future and Panzer Dragoon Orta. I already my fighting games and Valkyria Chronicles doesn't interest me at all :c

I guess that as a big publisher they don't feel it's worthwhile enough for them to start porting their old stuff even if it's a meager profit in their eyes.

I am still waiting for a HD port of Skies of Arcadia which was rumoured a few years back. It's one of my fav RPGs ever and it deserves a comeback. Plus its made by those who did Valkyria Chronicles.

I thought they abandoned a bunch of planned HD ports after Jet Set Radio HD bombed super hard

Bump again, they want our attention now I guess.

I suggested it in the other thread, but why don't we collect enough money via Kickstarter and tell them to do XYZ port?

Petitions don't seem to work anymore anywhere and hashtag bombing don't do shit likewise.
I think someone as dense as Sega is best approachable when they're handed the money on a silver platter upfront. Honestly I can't think of any better idea that would bring results and make Sega actually DO something.

I would totally be behind that, and mind you it's SoJ who have the final say right?

That's an extraordinary bad idea on multiple levels. To deconstruct why it's terrible would take a lot of time.

Ultimately it's Sega's responsibility now to take action. The fans really shouldn't have to do anything more since they've already demonstrated demand multiple times over. If they just want to sit around and do nothing after all the evidence that shows what people want then they can keep sitting around and doing nothing. I'm no beggar.

Of course someone need to get in touch with them first (that would be hard enough on its own I imagine) and arrange how much money is needed to do a competent port of game X or Y and how much an individual backer needs to pledge to be entitled to a copy of the game.

BUT SEGA WON'T DO SHIT ON THEIR OWN. That's why this frustrating thread exists in the first place.

You're no beggar, but I am. The fucking PC platform and its lack of a traditional platform holder makes me one.

Still no Vanquish? Come on, Sega.

Sega seriously needs to port their best of the best games to PC. If they put out excellent games with good ports, PC players will support them. I actually think Shining Force III, after the success of Valkyria Chronicles would be an excellent idea. If that is successful, maybe they should even translate and bring over the other two games in the series, finally. Dragon Force would be another great choice for PC.

If I ran them, my top priorities would be:

- Obtain the rights to Streets of Rage Remake and release it legit, with polished up art (or just release it as is), release it on every platform known to man
- Port Vanquish and Bayonetta
- Start porting Shenmue I and II to X1, PC, PS4
- Shining force III Trilogy
- Dragon Force PC port
- Remake of Panzer Dragoon Saga, and porting all three Panzer Dragoon Games to PC
- Skies of Arcadia Remaster
- Porting Yakuza series to PC (hell, just start with Yakuza Zero)
- Phantasy Star Online 2 in NA
