Question:
If i buy the Madcatz LED board and install it in a TE2 other than the KI version, how do i control if they are on or off?
On every XB1 TE2, there is a on/off switch on the top panel. On PS4, you have to unplug the cable that powers the board or else it will always be on.
BTW, I'm really digging the prototyping you are doing for the TE2 mods. Are you just using photoshop?
It's not necessary to get a stick at all. It is just a matter of preference.
If you decide to get one for SF5, the easiest choices are the HRAP 4 Kai for $150 or the Madcatz TE2 for $200. Both will work fine on PS4 and PC. The main differences are mainly in the parts (Hori uses their own parts, MCZ uses Sanwa). Also the HRAP has the PS4 touchpad.
Hey Gaf, I was wondering, is it necessary to use a fight stick to play Street Fighter? Cause I am thinking of getting Street Fighter V when it does come out, but I don't want it to be a hassle. Getting a stick is on my list of things to buy, but it isn't the top priority right now (first is building a PC). I've only played Marvel VS Capcom twice and Street Fighter 4 in the arcades.
Also if I were to buy a stick, which one should I get (normal pricing in which I'm comfortable paying and will get a nicely built product)?
Can I get some feeback on these options? All seem nicer than the red. Thinking the white version with black balltop...?

just fat thumb itHori FC4 and other 6 face button pad players:
I am interested in one, but always wondering about one thing. How do you do a EX DP with Akuma?
I mean there are the bumpers for all kicks/all punches, but what if you want to JUST input 2 punches? Is it even possible to press 2 buttons in a row there?

The 1.5lb spring might me more like a JLF, the 2lb is definitely stiffer overall.
Thanks. Missed this earlier. I'll probably get both to try. I just don't want anything crazy stiff like those old Happ bat-top arcade sticks. I got an old one custom modded before the TE's with Sanwas came out, and when I went back to try it, I couldn't believe how stiff it was.

It's nowhere near as stiff as those. There's a night and day difference between the Hayabusas with the 2lb springs we have in our cabinet versus the Happ sticks downstairs on the HF cabinet.

Is this the first inter-generational licensed Xbox stick?
yeah this is the first arcade stick. I think PDP had the MKX fight pad that also did itIs this the first inter-generational licensed Xbox stick?
Wasn't Madcatz working on one? Whatever happened to that? A 360/XB1 TE2 would be sweet.
And some folks play even better on a pad. It's personal preference.
Whatever they like.Just out of interest what do the pro players use for pads? Is it just a ds4 or xbone controller or something else? I have looked at the fight commander pads but the moveable dpad seems to be a weak point.
Wasn't looking for the one pad to rule them all, just wondered as some dpads don't really work that well with fighting games.
Which pads are those? Like others have said its all preference, but I don't know about any d pads that don't work well with fighters.Wasn't looking for the one pad to rule them all, just wondered as some dpads don't really work that well with fighting games.
It's not necessary. For many players it is easier, but not all. Snake Eyez and Wolfkrone are both known players who use pads and are threats at majors.
SFV could end up pad-friendlier than SFIV to boot, though too early to tell because we don't know what OS's/heavy execution stuff end up in the game.
If you do go pad, I'd recommend heavily the Hori FC4. Works on W10/PS3/PS4, solid 6-button fighting game pad and quality all around. Runs about $50.
I use pad for KOF and stick for SF/VF myself.

Just to be sure I won't have to buy a new plexiglass if I buy the TE2, right?
No one answered my question![]()
It depends entirely on how much you like the stock one sliding around and trapping moisture which you have to wipe out (and which may not wipe out completely). No one answered my question![]()
The KI TE2 is another story thought. Nice plexi on that one.It depends entirely on how much you like the stock one sliding around and trapping moisture which you have to wipe out (and which may not wipe out completely).
Yeah, I heard they changed to a thinner panel on the TE2s after the KI one, and it clearly didn't work out.The KI TE2 is another story thought. Nice plexi on that one.
It's not exactly clear what you are asking.
