I smell open world

Why ask that question when you've just linked to an article about the game being an IGN First?

Serious question - why can't Gears show up in Germany?

I'm not sure which Gears we are talking about? Gears 4? If that's correct, let me tell you that it could show up. Gears 1 and 2 are banned in Germany, because of it being too violent. Gears 3 on the other hand got a pass and is available in Germany making it possible for Gears 4 to appear at gamescom.

PS: The German rating board "USK" is rating everything that will appear at gamescom. Every demo, every trailer for a game(as far as I know).

Most important thing for them is what the player is killing. Is it human like? I expect that the Locust were too human-like for them in the first games.

How the USK really operates will stay a mystery to me. For example: They've rated every Assassin's Creed game 16+, while being rated 18+ by the PEGI. You are killing humans in this game. I'll never understand those decisions they make.

Wasn't that confirmed already?

The interviewer speculated that Scalebound might be an open-world RPG, to which Lobb replied: "Really good guess."

This one is also a good article:

They're both old of course, but maybe some people missed them. Kamiya also said that even when the reveal-trailer was CGI, it really showed their vision and they want to replicate the feeling of it in the final game.

A big thing for the USK is whether killing humans or human-like enemies is rewarded or not. Getting points for doing bad stuff is a big nein nein.

As I said in another thread, Gamescom is a European trade show that happens to be hosted in Germany, so I don't know why Germany's poor ratings system would automatically mean the absence of Gears 1/Ultimate or 2.

Microsoft could've asked to rate the new game. Most games like Gears get rated 18 these days. The USK would've re-rated it. But they didn't even bother and simply don't publish it. So there is nothing to be done.

Getting back on topic: I'm really excited for the show and would like to see a little bit more of the time-manipulating gameplay in Quantum Break. I've seen the gameplay demo at gamescom last year and it is my favorite upcoming Xbox game. Haven't seen anything from Scalebound so this could still change the day after tomorrow.
Crackdown: If they show destroying entire buildings they've fullfilled one of my biggest gameplay wishes.

I always thought that it wasn't so much the violence that got Gears 1 and 2 banned so much as it was the CoG's iconography being somewhat Nazi-esque.

Why is it nischt nischt tho?

Because violence is bad dude. I know you AMERICANS
(are you even American? I don't know, I hope I'm not offending you but I'm kinda trying to make a joke here so bear with me OK bye love ya)
love violence and guns so much you probably would marry them if you could but the rest of the world knows better. We're OK with boobs and don't like violence. We win.

Lots of open world comments.

It could be huge "open areas", I mean the cgi last year sorta of gave that away. If you gonna be flying dragons and shit you gonna need the space to do that no?

Americans like boobs too, you know.

Lol I thought it was a halo screen at first

judging by the pic, graphics wont wow us

art style should make up I guess but very hard to judge from a cg trailer and a random screenshot which has orb thingies ... :)

10am EST, that would make it at 7am PST.

really looking for ward to this. Am not an xbox gamer but am def excited to hear more about scalebound, qb and crackdown. Does anyone remember what the third party was at gamescon last year as far as the conferences go? Did we get too many new 3rd party game reveals or significant new trailers?

Yeah, but not on TV/in movies/in games.
Ever heard of HBO?

Hoping they have another BC-like mic drop.

Dead Rising 4 makes sense, 3 years between DR2 and DR3 means we could see another installment in 2016. Would be a nice to see them investing further in the franchise.

Press Play should have something in the works, right? Would love to see something new from them.

Really hope we see a few teases late in the night..

I'm kinda dissapointed Sony isn't doing a presser this year, I feel like 2015 GC could have been one for the ages when so many other publishers are bringing the big guns, MS spearheading.

I'm most interested seeing Quantum Break.

Yeah, but they will be at Paris Games Week, though. Don't they also have PSX later on? I-m an Xbox guy mainly, but I am certain Sony will have plenty to show before the year is over.
They have too many studios working on stuff to not show it. It's one of their strengths, imo, even I personally find some ofnthe titles leaving me wanting.

I like GC as a mini E3 where everybody (minus nintendo) actually have announcements. GC has been especially good these last few years and with Sony gone it's going to take a huge step back.

Now I do think it probably has a lot to do with GC being so close to E3 which is a shame. We need E3 to move back to May or something!
