Dark Souls 3 Trailer (Gamescom 2015)

The fuck.

Okay, that's cool. Think whatever you want. Next time don't bring this stuff up like it's fact.

Everything about the lighting in that trailer looks better than the constant flat looking shit we've had since Demon's Souls.

I'm just not going to be too surprised if what we get next March won't look like what we've been shown now. It's happened 3 times already.

What's weird is that I think the game shown there (minus video compression) looks better than what we got.

Horrible video compression aside, yes.

And you want me to admit I'm 'literally blind' :lol

Okay, definitely done with this ridiculous discussion.

Never doubt those fuckers again.

Bloodborne is just so fucking good to me that I can't see how they'll top it. But stuff like that gif, man...

It's like I'm still feeling the burn of Resident Evil 5 coming off RE4 lol. The Souls and RE series are kinda similar when I think about it - a handful of incredible games in each, culminating in an (imo) GOAT contender that reinvents the franchise (Bloodborne and RE4). RE5, while still a fantastic game, stumbled for me in many ways. Like Capcom with RE4, FROM has seemingly also hit their peak with Bloodborne, and I just hope they don't disappoint with DS3. The new trailer eases my fears a bit - they aren't just maintaining what makes the series so great, but are doubling down on it. There's absolutely nothing uninspired about it.

Yep. This has Miyazaki written all over it. Seeing a giant skull emerging from the darkness, and wondering what does the rest of it look like, is one of those moments that ignite the imagination. It fills you with wonder and makes you feel like a kid again.

It's insane that they showed that motherfucker in a trailer. I mean, if they were willing to show that, what could they possibly be holding back on? :O

The skull here is the "get hype" moment, like when people spotted Amygdala on the tower in the Bloodborne demo.

As Jontron would say, it's like standing on a foggy shore looking out over the horizon and wondering, "......what if?"

Miyazaki said that he wants to convey 'Withering Beauty' with Dark Souls III so that explains the colors in the trailer, though I'm sure they'll have a lot more varied palette in other areas. Look at Bloodborne itself, they only showed so little in the trailers and in the end it had so much variety.

lol what nah variety was bloodborne weak point..
i meant in my post compared to DS2 its looking drab.. in color... DS2 was colorful... i really dislike the dull colors in bloodborne other than red...:P....and the variety in locals wasnt good at all.... also he better not fuck up the pvp this time around... DS2 most defintiely had the best pvp.. with all of the covenants and what not.. pvp in BB was fun but was lacking... also had nothing but vial spammers...
i really hope it takes all the awesome shit from DS2 which is my favorite game in the series... it gets shit on gaf soo much...:/…..

glad i only played through it once will replay BB this month...
im a little dissapointed in the look... im all for the combat getting faster and being more BB like but i was hopeing they would keep the dark souls look..but i understand they had to use the BB engine it would be to costly and took probably 2 more years to make it otherwise....

This time, it looks like they are using the Bloodborne tech, and the trailer does look like BB, so Im sure this wont happen.
Bloodborne is already out.

This is the same engine and has similar visual quality.

I don't understand why people are bringing this.

[sarcasm]
Not to even mention this is Team A!
[/sarcasm]

The trailer looks pretty much graphically on par with Bloodborne, I don't see why they'd downgrade later on.

This game is what I live for. That throwback to DS1 at the beginning...hnnngg

I'm 99% sure DS3 won't receive any downgrades. From the looks of it the game uses the Bloodborne engine and it releases on current gen only.

...Really.

As if Bloodborne hasn't already happened.

I think you're all ignoring the fact that Bloodborne was a PS4 exclusive, meaning From could optimise a lot on one platform. Everyone knows that platform exclusives look better generally than games that have been developed for 3 platforms.

You always want to win arguments no matter what, don't you?
Why you suddenly think it happened 3 times is also beyong everyone's comprehension. Only Souls game that received a graphical downgrade was Dark Souls 2 because it used a different engine.
All signs point to Dark Souls 3 not receiving any downgrades because it's seemingly using the Bloodborne engine (identical render from the looks of it) and that one is proven to be able to create the fidelity as seen in the trailer on PS4 and co, and only releases on current gen. You can't present any counter proofs because there exists none.

Discussion over.

bloodborne engine with souls art at 1440p yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss ffffffffffuuuuuuuu

Demon's Souls (a PS3 exclusive) and Dark Souls (multiplat) were more comparable than not.

This will be fine.

I thought the music sounded a lot like Sir Alonne's theme.

Hm, well it's similar in that both this, Nier's soundtrack and Alonne's theme feature choirs prominently. But I thought the choral parts and instrumentation here sounded a lot more similar to Nier than Alonne's theme.

Is the composer known?

They love to show opening areas in detail, and then just tiny smidgens of things that show up later. I mean think about what was shown in the Bloodborne trailers - almost all of it was Yharnam, and a little bit of Hemwick. Then we got that fucking crazy bait and switch in the game's theme and some awesome locales, one of which was entirely hidden.

Probably with refinements of their own engine and more knowledge about actual gen consoles, chances that this might look better are actually higher than the situation you are expecting.

Games tends to look better the more time we are into the generation, not worse.

welp tomb of the giants is back, time to idle at the entrance for 40 mins until I summon someone.
nah I'll go in naked like true seasoned players

doesn't look much faster than dark souls tbh, those rolls were pretty much the same. but with new moves and weapons it's probably going to have a ''Bloodborne feeling'', or at least I hope so.

You are also forgetting that DARK SOULS 2 was made with LAST GEN CONSOLES in mind. It was limited by default. People claiming some more downgrades with BLOODBORNE haven't seen the fucking Nightmare Frontier yet.Specifically the spidermonster is still alive and good looking in-game,even though it is cut from the tower from the beta, when you actually fight one with opened eyes it just shows that assets moved locations. People can chew harder on their crow for all i care.
