Dark Souls 3 Trailer (Gamescom 2015)

Yes, please. Hopefully will get to play a demo at PAX and then it's media blackout until the game comes out and I get to explore the awesomeness that is a Souls game yet again.

I see what you mean now that you mention Adjudicator - which is an awesome boss thematically and I totally forgot him. I would like to see more stuff like that too. I feel Bloodborne was refreshing in that regard over Dark Souls 2.

I'm also someone who enjoyed Dragon God of it being a complete jobber and being preceded by arguably the hardest boss in the game for melee characters. I'd like to see more of both of them in games. One's a fun level to explore and less of a traditional boss fight, and the other is just cheap as fuck with random attack combos it'll stop early to mess with players.

Dragon God is another great example of what I mean. And yeah, just that video gamey element of bosses with invulnerabilities until weakpoints are exploited, or round about ways to defeat them. Dark Souls 2 had very, very few of these fights.

I suspect you're using this to highlight instances of aliasing, but hnnng it looks SO GOOD. Can you screencap the fat knight that runs around on all fours? And the Mindflayer-like woman wandering the prison?

Nah, not to highlight the aliasing (even though it's not great). Legit think the game looks gorgeous.

Looks more of the same, which I welcome with open arms. I'm guessing a March release date but anytime earlier (such as Bloodborne's original February release) and I would be ecstatic.

I liked Dragon God. Yeah, he's a gimmick boss, and hardly a boss at all, really. But MAN, looking down that hall of pillars after Flamelurker and seeing Dragon God's sneering mug framed perfectly at the end is a sight I'll never forget. By that point I was so immersed in the grounded feeling of Souls that the suspension of disbelief was complete and that was a real goddamn dragon I was staring down, lol.

Thanks for these!!

Can someone make an uncompressed screencap of the fat knight on all fours, swinging his mace, etc? I love his design.

Literally impossible since it's even faster than Dark Souls 1.

Yup. Demon's Souls is by far the fastest Souls game (except Bloodborne of course).

Dark Souls 3 gameplay looks pretty much like Demon's. The roll is almost identical! It has that feel of ''lightness'' in the animations/movement that Demon's Souls had. I'm really digging it.

It is even better that the game art direction is very Bloodbornish, which is by far the best aspect of Bloodborne IMO! I love this gothic atmosphere!

This trailer really showed how superior Bloodborne's art direction is...

I mean, it is Dark Souls 3, I'm still excited... but also kind of disappointed in the visuals department :/

My thoughts initially.

Bloodborne really hit the ball out of the park aesthetically. Good thing gameplay will still be king.

I tried, but since he's moving in every shot there's a ton of motion blur.

A little neat detail, but did any else notice the translucent veil flowing on the boss (Dancer of the Frigid Valley I think) near the end? It looks like a ghostly mist in way. Just something I didn't notice till watching the trailer again.

FInally it seems they fixed the clunky combat that plagued the soul series. Faster paced too!! Hype Increased.

Though after the Dark Souls 2 fiasco with the graphics, not going to get too excited about the game visually yet.

Rad trailer, looking forward to it.

I totally burned out on BB and struggled to finish it despite largely enjoying it, but I am keen to get into a Souls game with weapon, build and play style variety again. Especially if it plays somewhere between DS2 and BB.

It's just you.

The art direction is debatable but I don't see how this looks worse than Bloodborne on a technical level.

Actually, that was the first thing that came in my mind when I saw the trailer. I still think it looks worse even after watching the Gamersyde video. Don't get me wrong, it is still beautiful, especially the enemy designs. But it is kind of underwhelming after Bloodborne.

I don't think it looks worse. Looks about exactly the same. Obviously the same engine, and the same emphasis on parallax mapping/tessellation for geometry detail on surfaces, and low resolution surface textures hidden behind nice shaders.

Otherwise the actual models, art, details all look fucking incredible to me. That free flowing translucent ethereal blue fabric flowing from the gangly boss amidst the orange glow of hot fires around the battle looks incredible.

I'm still playing Bloodborne every day and this still looks impressive to me. I'm not seeing the downgrade.

From's love of alliteration and soft consonants will compel them to name the black dragon "Dissolving Dragon," just you wait and see.

And man, I love the Mindflayer/Bell Maiden mashup. To make it even scarier, they gave her the face of an Iron Maiden and a firebrand as a weapon. Goddamn.

Same. This looks every bit as beautiful and inspired as Bloodborne.

I think the fabric might actually be a wispy vapor, like smoke from an incense burner or candle, and at times it solidifies to have the appearance of fabric.

Whatever it is, it looks cool! I very much want to beat the shit out of these beautiful bosses!!

As a newcomer to the series with Bloodborne, I'm encouraged to see that playing the 'Bloodborne way' seems to be an option here. Maybe it's because I haven't tried it myself, but the slower action (correct me if it's not actually slower) of Dark Souls doesn't seem to appeal to me as much as Bloodborne's does.

You can play the BB way in every souls game( i think, haven't tried with DaS 2) That's how i played Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1. "Expert" players even had high armor and fast rolling thanks to min maxing.

You could play previous Souls games like Bloodborne. Main difference is the lack of health regain when hitting enemies who just hit you. You're a bit more nimble in Bloodborne, but you're still perfectly agile in Souls (especially in DS3, from the looks of it). What's nice about Souls is there are even more ways to play. I'm personally looking forward to a mixed magic build with a bit of swordplay.

Looks pretty great so far.

Hope they pull a twist and reveal an environment that isn't entirely decayed. One of my favourite things about Dark Souls is the variety of environments.
