Dark Souls 3 Trailer (Gamescom 2015)

So happy to see a little speed in the combat, after bloodborne dark souls 2 felt terrible.
Also great to see variation in the enemies and not just medieval knights in armour.

Nah. Demon's Souls was a PS3 exclusive and Dark Souls was a multiplat that came later. Dark Souls looked better than Demon's Souls. This will be fine.

This is coming out a year after Bloodborne, not 3. I'm not saying it looks bad at all. It looks great. I just wouldn't be surprised if it does look slightly worse on PS4 compared to Bloodborne. Maybe that will be because of a lack of optimisation or it could be because Dark Souls 3 engine is doing more.

Also, was Dark Souls native 720p on PS3? I can't remember. I think Demon's Souls was.

Those blood splatters are straight from bloodborne.
I hope they show more gameplay soon.

I think they are reusing a lot of assets. I mean... Bloodborne in early 2015 and Dark Souls 3 in early 2016 + Scholar of the First Sin in 2015. Unless the developers at From don't sleep, I can't see how they managed to make 3 games simultaneously without at least sharing a couple of assets. The first shot of this trailer is so Bloodborne that if I didn't know it was a DkS3 trailer, I would definitely say it was Bloodborne DLC.

Nothing wrong with that of course. If they feel confident to annualize the series I'm really not opposed. I just want my Souls <3

Got damn does that look fucking amazing. Glad I finally jumped n the series, although it took a lot of streamlining of stupid shit within the series to get to the point I loved it (Bloodborne).

I only kinda like the Dark Souls games and while I liked how speedy the combat in Bloodborne looked, I really didn't like the Victorian aesthetics.

And yet the combination of both really appeals to me. It looks like I always imagined my "ideal" version of Dark Souls to be like.

It also gives me just a tiny bit of Castlevania vibes, and I can't really pinpoint why.

This could be the game that finally fully draws me in!

Sounds pretty positive so far.

The main issue I had with the faster Bloodborne was with bosses, but I'm thinking that with shields back you'll be able to slow those fights down.

If this can fuse BB and DS1 combat, keep the DS2 online stuff(-SM) and variety all in a decently designed world I don't know how it can miss.

I'm still playing Bloodborne every day and this still looks impressive to me. I'm not seeing the downgrade.

I don't know. I just think it looks worse. I can't really put my finger on why... I mean, comparing to the Bloodborne gameplay reveal trailer...

... I think it definitely looks worse. The obvious answer would be ''the art direction''. But Dark Souls 3 is basically Bloodborne 2.0 in its art direction so...

I don't know really. Am I crazy thinking the Bloodborne trailer looks better technically? Because I got that feel.

Looking at this backstab again it doesnt actually look like its the Ds1 BS. What it looks like to me is the player gets behind the enemy and initiates the backstab animation but the enemy still has time to get away right up until the sword makes contact. If this is the case then BS fishing is gonna be a thing of the past.

This tweet by a souls streamer who played the game a few days back sort of corroborates my speculation.

Please God be true. After Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne I don't want to go back to the Demon's/Dark 1 backstab fishing ghetto.

Looks amazing. Let's hope there won't be any development issues before time to release.

That would be such good news. Backstabs made no sense the way they were.

I don't get it. Doesn't Dark Souls 2 have instant backstab as well? It was pretty easy to fish for a backstab because even if you weren't directly behind, the animation would still allow for the backstab to happen.

One marvels at how they've managed to work on Bloodborne, DS2: SotFS, DS3, and BB DLC all in the same timeframe.

Clearly, From have lined their brains with eyes. They have approached the Eldritch Truth. They have made a pact with Formless Oedon.

Exactly. This looks different from both Ds1 and Ds2 in that the animation for backstabbing doesnt completely override player movement. At least not for the person being backstabbed. I could be completely wrong with how it works though. Good thing we find out for sure tomorrow.

Well i always see post about people wondering how they did it but i never see an answer to how many folks are working there.

No. When you see a character doing that punching animation that doesn't hit that's an escaped backstab.

No it doesn't, in DS2 an animation starts up, and if you land the animation, the backstab lands; In DS, if you're in the right position and you go for a backstab it will lock both players into an animation, it's unmissable.

It's just Miyazaki, barefoot and wearing robes, standing atop a tower with his catalyst held high, shouting "MAKE-A, NEW-A, GAME-A!" beneath a gathering storm, and then a bolt of lightning strikes the top of the tower, leaving a new Souls game on the scorch mark.

3 Goat games in a row I wouldnt be surprised if this is how he does it lol

I would like to know too. Also, I would like to know the size of Platinum Games considering they have like 2918 projects in development.

The most amazing though is that Miazaky himself directed Bloodborne along with Dark Souls 3. And when he finished Bloodborne, he started (supposedly) working in the Bloodborne DLC. And it is not like it is something easy, because he is the very definition of ''director''. From enemy design to lore and gameplay, the guy has his touch in everything. So I'm just here thinking... ''How?''. I shall never know the answer I guess. Also, I feel useless when thinking about it, I can't even direct my life very well, and the guy is handling 3 things at the same time + his life? RANT TIME!!!11

No. Kos heard their prayers

Best in the biz and literally the number one reason I play the games
It's like when they show that Mindflayer/Bell Maiden crossover with the iron mask and firebrand stalking down the halls with her lantern, you're like, "OK, Miyazaki, stop, I get it, you know everything that pegs my meter," and then the camera pans and shows that equally awesome iron-faced human-grasshopper and you're like, "OK, now you're just showing off!"

That really looked like the best of both worlds.

I'm currently replaying Dark Souls 2 thanks to SotFS and while the game has its shortcomings, I've just done the first DLC and found it absolutely brilliant.

Story/lore wise, I have no idea where they can go. I guess it will be yet another version of Lordran ages later and they'll still be debating the undead curse and the first flame. On that front, I feel the titular Scholar made the DS2 lore more legible.

i hope they don't do the 'release a month earlier on consoles to ensure crossbuyers' bullshit again.

although i'll probably just buy it on ps4 anyway instead of PC to avoid cheaters, maybe get the goty edition on pc eventually

why can't they make a really high end graphics version of this game?...same gameplay but with a really impressive engine?...sort of like the way Lords of the Fallen looked
