Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

That's been there since 2006!

It's Nomura San telling us he needs hia sleep, very very badly. And Stella was designed after his crush and she's a game dev from a rival company.

Yep that's what I think, but I doubt that the empire would hold a whole town under siege to get a random girl to use as bait in a political marriage, maybe just maybe Luna could still possess powers similar to Noctis? or something different.

Because I really don't think Idola is her father, and it seems the empire was hoping that she would also die at Lucis with the attack, they are saying that Regis, Noctis and Luna died in the attack.

I don't think he's from Niflheim, his armor insignia doesn't appear in any of their armors / equipment.

Accordo has Leviathan but this looks more like Phoenix which could be Tenebrae's symbol, that's why I think it's just her abusive father.

That could even be Bahamut.

If you don't want hybrids of medieval armament and modern technology, FF hasn't been the brand for you for 2 decades.

Yeah... No.. Those were borderline steampunk.. This on the other hand is straight up Medieval with guns.. and fiats.. Even Squall with his gunblade didn't run around in a Kingsguard armor..

Goddamn that is one sick burn.

I refuse to believe that Toriyama really loves Lightning that much. Maybe he lost a bet when XIII did badly critically and the dare was that he needed to act like Lightning is his waifu during every conference.

It could also have been a very badly calculated way of telling Japanese otakus that he's just like the rest of them! Like that XIII Maxim launch party was them hoping dudebros will buy and play XIII.

I have to admit I am wondering why King Regis was pushing the young girl to the ground like that.

Here's my guess:

We're seeing two separate scenes from two different kingdoms happening at roughly the same time. Two juxtaposed events.

Noctis prince of Lucius is chosen by "the stars" to carry the light.

Luna princess of somewhere else is not chosen, and therefore a disgrace to her kingdom.

A loving father filled with mixed emotions over what this honor means to his son, and a spiteful father? filled with rage that his Kingdom's supremacy is effectively doomed taking it out on his daughter?.

Lunafreya is still a member of a Royal family in Tenebrae. Idola is the ruler of Niflheim kingdom.

Story abstract:

Sounds like Niflheim conquered Tenebrae which is now a province and is using Luna, maybe that's what we're seeing in the trailer with all those soldiers, I'm just hoping Luna to have a more active role than the one she apparently has of being a distraction to conquer Lucis.

She's easily forgettable. She never existed outside of a few trailers and some magazine pictures.

The fetish for Stella is up there with Toriyama's creepy fetish for Lightning at this point.

Yeah, some people are too clingy about Stella.

She was looking cool but I didn't know enough about her to feel like so many people seem to do.

I don't get it.

The one holding him is definitely Noctis's grandpa. From the text they are speaking about "the father" and "the son" of Lucis. Then they say "the father could but hold him", so they are still speaking about Lucis's father and son. It was very clear the second time I saw the trailer.

Here I am wondering if I should stop watching trailers, because they'll probably start revealing everything soon ... and ...

Well.

Why should I be excited for this game?

Will there be any interesting female characters in this game at all? Is Luna destined to become Rem 2.0?

The whole idea behind Niflheim as a nation is that they used their crystal to only invest in war, but their culture is very backwards. It's a mixture of both traits.

Whereas the modern nation advanced socially and became like modern day Shinjuku. Yet, they rely on their "songs of swords and sorcery" in battle.

The whole game's artistic theme is about exploring the extremes on all spectrums: fantasy/reality, modern/past, light/dark, black/white, etc.

This sounds very plausible to me.

Also, they didn't reveal the voice of the man holding Noctis for a reason. If you had heard his voice, you would have known which character it is. It seems very deliberate.

Uh, not sure what to think of that.
The tears look a bit awkward and off, the girl's face though she's Luna now?
Idk maybe I'm nitpicking but her nose/face...can't say I like how the character looks.

I actually pictured in my head Luna's father screaming "you are a disgrace" during that scene, your view seems quite possible (and it would be cool)

Still doesn't make any sense to me. Culture being based on clothing is too much especially when they have automatic rifles and mechs. They could've shown their "backwards" aspect in some other way.

Niflheim has waged war for crystals in Tenebrae, so it makes sense that Tenebrae became imperial province of Niflheim.

That was an awesome trailer. Would I have like to see Noctis running around Lucis? Sure, that was a good story trailer that focused a lot more of the type of themes we're going to get in the game

Awesome trailer.

Must say I didn't expect to see Regis holding Noctis for 2 minutes in this trailer, after 40 seconds I was like "Yeah yeah I understood now show me something else!".

You're applying real world logic to fiction, in which they base their entire economic structure and society over the mystical powers of a crystal. Of course it won't make sense. It just needs to make sense within that universe. Just like every other Final Fantasy.

There is a method to this madness. There is a medieval kingdom who relies on magic and a modern Japan styled kingdom which relies on technology.

If you want to hate on that outright, you're welcome to, but I want to see how they handle that juxtaposition.

Nice imagery, good music, but there isn't enough context for us to make any sort of emotional reaction to this scene. I mean it COULD be a huge tear-jerker, but, we don't know without context.

no man... it was emotional as fuck... even VAGUE context can invoke emotion.

"I will be with you... Always." Implies Two things. He is physically going to be there, or he is spiritually going to be there (IE: if he dies)

but...

He is crying while holding and kissing his sons head while saying this, which gives a feeling that something bad is coming and thus, he may actually
die
(these arent tears of joy)

Also... it may invoke a little more feeling for people who are actually fathers... (as the feelings we have for our children are impossible to describe to people who dont have children but are crazy emotional...) so the scene plays out slightly different for them.

so while we could use more context to get a better understanding of the scene... that, in NO WAY, means it doesnt offer any emotional reaction. It definitely did for me! lol. T_T

They changed Regis's look?

And I felt the trailer was trying to be like the old Versus trailers, but it failed. Text looked plain with no cool effects, no blending into scenes etc. The scenes weren't CG, which meant the hair and some other aspects just looked off.

Music was great tho, as always. The last scene was emotional, so well done there too. I liked that this trailer teased and didn't spoil much. Hopefully SE keeps the spoilers to a minimum until release.

That was one of the worst trailers I've ever seen. It doesn't really tell us anything more than the GIF they teased us with.

Garbage trailer.

And I feel like graphically this game just keeps getting worse every time they show it.
You can criticize the trailer for not really showing much, but lolololol, this was top-notch graphically. Worse every time? lulz.

What I'm just saying is they could've taken a much more modest approach to it; like say, what Noctis' father was wearing minus the cloak.

Edit: I hope they get Liam Neeson to voice Regis.

100% agreed on all accounts. Well said.

Regis crying while holding and kissing his son in the rain is such a beautiful and strong scene.

Looks like Regis is wearing a modern suit under his rope.
