Seems like the desert artwork is the same area at the beginning of the TGS trailer? the one with the Adamantoise?
This strangely made me laugh.
Deserts tend to be.

And FFXIII spells this out for the player, just the vocal internet minority find it offensive that they had to learn a fake word or two so they pretend the game can only be understood through a datalog.
Looks like Accordo has been renamed too.

Thanks, I appreciate the perspective. Definitely adds some much needed context to the trailer. I'd say it's biggest failing is having anything to do with FNC, and not just going out and becoming its own thing. It definitely muddies things unnecessarily. At least at this point
Are you kidding me? I learned an entire conlang for Ar Tonelico and you're going to play THIS card on me? haha no, FF13's failures in writing are entirely its own

New desert environment, and it looks barren on first glance. D:
Altissia could be the capital of Accordo.. just like Insomnia and Lucis.

Yes, because twisting people's words or putting words in their mouth isn't something you did a page ago![]()
it's not a well written story, but it is easy to understand what is happening.

Way too old.
I agree that it's not very clear, and explaining doesn't make the trailer magically better, but the idea is this from my understanding.
"As the stars chose the son to be their light"
The gods (assumedly fal'cie that have appeared in previous games) have chosen Noctis for an unknown mission, which based on FF XIII (which is wrapped around the same mythos as FF XV) would not end well for the chosen one, no matter the result of his/her mission.
"The father could but hold him and mourn his destiny"
The father (King Regis) knows what awaits his son, but is powerless to do anything despite being a powerful man.
This leads to the scene where he (as the text says), can do nothing but hold him in front of the gods who have chosen the child to be their servant.
He can just assure the child (sleeping calmly, ignorant of his own situation) that he will always be there for him, no matter what. And this leads to the adventure we're going to experience in Final Fantasy XV.

It's a simple scene, but difficult to understand without the context of FNC mythos where this trailer really fails.
Entire thing was real time.Which parts were CGI and which ones were from game engine? I think the only game engien parts were with the soldiers around the car with the dog sniffing since they had hard polygonal edges and and non CGI fur on the dog.
Well, uh...
How else should a desert look?
Entire thing was real time.
I've watched the trailer so many times now and it has really grown to me.
I agree that it's not a good trailer to promote the game, especially to people who haven't been following the development.
But personally I think I finally "got it" after the initial confusion, when I wrap this around the FNC mythos.
What I personally feel from the scene is that here's King Regis, the great ruler of his kingdom, he has all the wealth and power in the world. Yet he is unable to protect his loved son from the divine fate that has been cast on him, presumably something bad. He's surrounded by his great crown city yet completely exposed to the greater forces above them.
The gods (fal'cie) aren't necessarily there physically, but he can still sense them watching, waiting to take away his only son. All he can do is hold him.
We don't know much about Regis but to me it really paints the image of how he is a loving father, before anything else.
I think it's a great foundation to whatever is coming, no blaming anyone who doesn't feel the same but that's my personal feeling.
Entire thing was real time.
Are we going to have a thread for the ATR- or is this it?
But someone said the other man was beating Luna because she wasn't chosen by the gods?
I believe Altissia is the capital city of Accordo
Wow, wow wow really wow. Japanese devs slept much in the last-gen in terms of graphics and techs and game engines and now they pulled the Luminous engine, Fox Engine, Panta Rhei Engine which surpass most of the western engines. They are coming back like at the PS2 gen where japanese had most of the best looking games (at least on consoles since they didn't develop that much on PC at that time) at that time.

Is that the same car that Noctis has as a grown man? Is this some sort of beggar kingdom where they can't afford new cars?
Wait, even the Luna part? I could have sworn that was CG... If that's real time consider me impressed.
Uncharted 4 still looks a lot better imo.Wow, wow wow really wow. You can count the amount of Japanese developers who are pushing tech like this on one hand. And the Fox Engine is dead after Konami dumps MGSV and moves on. Harking back to the PS2 days is more than a stretch.
FFXIV has a pretty lively desert. But it DOES still look like a desert.
Uncharted 4 still looks a lot better imo.

It's more linear by nature so it's not fair to compare.
In terms of the amount of details, nothing beats it to date. True. No one can deny that.
You talk about photo-realism, right?
