Metal Gear Solid V: Gamescom Gameplay Demo

By way of Peace Walker....

Everyone always forgets Peace Walker... :(

MGS5(Peace Walker)?

Whatever ideas they had from that evolved into this (supposedly... don't want to spoil)

True, and that game is totally under-appreciated, but this game is essentially Peace Walker on steroids (i.e. consoles). I'm not sure why I always overlook it, probably because I kept wishing it wasn't on handhelds. =[

It all looks great but slightly apprehensive due to it all looking overwhelming which tends to put me off big time. Also, not so keen on DS style invasions (though you can "work offline" but perhaps miss out on the goods by doing so).

One thing I thought was greatly missing from the presentation was when the black load screen came up for the "delivery" service. Shame there's not some fun animation or picture on the screen during this interval.

Hate the evolution of mgs games. The last good mgs I played was MGS2. I have been waiting over 10 years for something like that but mgs keeps drifting from the formula that i like. This is so strange. I have been a fan of this series without actually liking every game after mgs2.

Even MGS3? Well, shit.

It's Peace Walker's base building and management, with Ground Zeroes' control and graphics, and Clash of Clans's invasion/retaliation design.

Holy fuck, this is so complex.

I really hate the dependence on the Fulton system, though. It was my goal to beat the game the first time without using it at all (if possible) because of how much tension it strips from any given moment. Ground Zeroes' main mission would have been half as short as it already was if you could just Fulton Paz and Chico out.

Why would you want to do that? It's stormy weather outside, heavy winds. Both injured severely. The success rate for fultoning both Chico and Paz out safely are extremely low ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

That invasion stuff was incredible.

Also -- wormholes, just straight up wormholes, I can't wait for the in game explanation of the science behind wormholes in the 80's.

Anyone notice the 35 minute build time for the R&D platform?

That was the greatest gameplay demo I have ever seen. This is not just GOTY, this is the potential greatest game of all time.

It is everything I want and dream of. I will be invading bases all day long.

Yep, makes me question what exactly the microtransactions are for, if it only takes 35 minutes to build a whole platform I can't see weapons taking longer than that, so I'm guessing you can straight up unlock equipment early using $

I'll leave FOBs until my second play through. I like the idea but I feel it's distracting from the main game.

Love Will Tear Us Apart will my Helicopter Battle music.

I never expected Wild Hunt to be threatened as the best game of the year for me, but here we go. This looks like an absolute monster.

I agree with this.

If the story is as good as my expectations... then I dont know which of the two will be my GOTY.

All of the giant demos they have been showing is a testament to how ridiculously huge and replayable this game is. And again, I still can't get over how massive you can make your mother base. This game is mind boggling.

Thats it, game of the gen right here folks, whats that? I can't hear Fallout 4 over the sound of my 80s music in my helicopter!

We are finally one month away and I can't wait, this is going to be my Labor Day weekend right here, planted in front of my PC.

No matter what happens in FOB [my stuff being stolen], my Motherbase will remain protected.

And FOB can be created only when MB is maxed out, so I will by then fully learn all the gameplay systems and my manufacturing facilities will be safe.

I still can't believe this game is coming out in less than a month. Almost finished replaying all the games, except for a acid and portable ops. Goodbye social life!

I hope there's a somekind of matchmaking system in place that prevents high level players from invading newbie FOBs.

If it takes up certain personnel for each piece of R&D, meaning researching/building everything is sequential then 20-40 minutes for everything will add up very quickly.

I'm going to create so much medicines in this game. I think all Big Boss needs is paracetamol, or maybe even Calpol. It could be the cure to that shrapnel in his head.
