Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater - Gameplay Trailer

For me it's a per-game situation. Oblivion Remaster makes sense. RE2 Remake also makes sense. MGS3 always felt like a 'doing the best within our limitations' issue.

You could tell when looking at Kojima's initial interviews and behind the scenes footage of earlier versions of the game, he had something much larger in scope when making MGS3. An actual sprawling jungle where you would have to use camo, survive, etc. in enemy lands and (potentially) kill the bosses in a different order. A proto-MGS5 in some ways.

Unfortunately it was all squeezed into segmented corridor-like areas with some mud, grass, water, and tress placed in between as the game barely managed to hit 30fps on PS2 (but it did look visually great for it's time).

These Delta devs were so afraid to change anything that they have even kept those 'transition' loading screens between areas. To me, that's wasted potential.
Agreed on all fronts, this could have taken the game and elevated it to new heights. It's somewhere between a remaster and a full remake

To me that Dead Rising example is also wasted potential, because they only took a half-step.

I don't know if this helps or hurts it for you, but from what I've heard about MGS Delta, one of the very few things they actually changed was the control scheme/camera to be more like other modern third person games.

Technically, Kojima was already headed in that direction with Subsistence, so to me it makes sense. It's the stuff outside of this that doesn't. Again, the loading screens...I just...idk.

Well, we can also look no further than Twin Snakes to see another example of inserting newer functionality in the series breaking game balance.

Are people smoking crack? This is exactly what a remake should be. Same quality gameplay, story, writing, etc but with modern visuals. It's a dream come true.
I bet the haters are Demake RE2/3/4/SH2/etc lovers.

Modern visuals? It looks like a mix of ps3 to 4 visuals.

I really started to like Konami, but who the fuck was responsible for the quality control? A blind kojima follower? These animations are practically 1on1, they look janky as fuck.

I also didn't want the loading screens and to be honest i am open to some area changes, like making them bigger with more guards etc, as some of them will feel very small for today's standards, and as with Subsistence, the 3D camera will also make them easy to pass.

But i get why they didn't make changes there. What i don't understand is why they didn't remake all the animations.

I think it looks amazing but yeah some animations stick out a bit as a result of using the original. They should've remade all animations, not just a few. I am still excited though, because its an amazing game anyways

Looks great to me.

I will wait a while to see if the gameplay is as 1:1 as it looks, but I'll be picking this up and reliving the best MGS game all over again.

I've thought this since I heard it was a 1:1 remake. They could have expanded the jungle quite easily. The loading screens are also completely unneccessary and I have no idea why they recreated those.

Something like this would have been amazing.

Apart from this though I'm not sure what all the moaning is about. Game looks fine in the extended gameplay captures on Youtube.

Now i've been nonplussed by this game, mostly happy MGS is back and mostly feeling it looks decent and unrealish.

But this trailer made it look ugly to me which I haven't felt before, the fury fight especially looked terrible compared to the original game and it's visuals.

UE5 strikes again for being "pretty" but also a mess visually. I won't be surprised if it releases and runs like dog shit on PC

Can not wait! Game of the hour, game of the day, game of the week, game of the month, game of the year, game of the generation.

Day one on all systems - PS5 Pro, PC and Series X.

I'm finding out that taking a PS2 game and slapping a coat of PS5 paint on it is not really that exciting. All this trailer made me want to do is play the original.

I'll get it down the road on discount.

I still have faith it'll be worth it if not for all the content including MGO and QoL improvements. Also i prefer remakes that at least not f* up the story.

i was a little disappointed when they showed the fight with The Fury. I was expecting something completely different. On PS2 the fire looked the best in the dark. Idk what's going on with this, it's somehow brighter?

Lighting looked messed up there compared to other places. Going to wait for launch though as hoping it'll be all improved and was just a poor edit with that then build.

you guys think that looks bad?

There is no hope for the future is there :messenger_downcast_sweat:

For what it's worth, I don't think it *looks* bad at all.

I think the old PS2 animation rigging stands out like a sore thumb over the ultra-high quality UE5 graphics.

This is really one of the best MGS games. I did hate the battle with the END. I mean hated it.

Not feeling it. I loved the original but that was on ps2 20 years ago, and the only thing that has changed, by the looks of it, is graphics, which in this case doesn't help.

They absolutely are. First thing that jumped out at me the last time they showed it.

Difference between cinematics and game play models/graphics etc.

Previous trailers have shown mostly cinematics with maybe a couple of seconds of game play.
