Metal Gear Solid V: Gamescom Gameplay Demo

I was going on complete blackout but since this was all about Mother Base, I figured what the hell. I'm so glad I watched this. Now I'm really fucking hyped. I need some PC brothers to help with invasions. And if I can't create an army of bears...I swear...

Mgs steam gaf here to protect and serve

You can be like me, and own both! I got the PS4 collector's edition preordered and will pick up the digital version for PC!

Though I'm a bit of a huge MGS fan owning multiple copies of the series already.

I consider myself a pretty big fan but that's why I feel *off* about getting it for anything other than PS4!

i5-2500k
GTX 560Ti 1GB
8GB RAM

low-to-mid grade action here. I'd at least upgrade to a GTX 760 if I scooped MGS for PC

Yeah probably roll ps4 then. And I'd still go higher than that.

nvidia is bundling the game with a ton of their cards right now actually. Maybe look into that.

You are a video card away from being able to play all current games at high/ultra @ 1080p.

What about a GTX 960? You could snag one for under $200 if you look around, and you'd get MGS for free!

But for reference anything from the 600 series, even a 660Ti, would do fine with this game. You may be able to find one used on Ebay for cheap.

Then again, low $300s for a GTX 970, like myself, and you are basically back on top ;)

sweet baby jesus I want it and I want it now - probably won't be doing any FOB stuff but still looks fun for those that enjoy competing against others. Soon, very soon.

I was nauseatingly overwhelmed by the micro-managing stuff and was about to stop the video and ask if I can play the game without it.

But then I saw what was basically a one on one infiltrate/defend multiplayer MGS complete with player placed cameras and IR sensors.

So now my question is how fucking awesome is that?

I'm really curious how the 'narrative' elements in Mother Base are going to be handled re: timing/missability.

That could really have some crazy different impacts on playthrough, if the scant examples in this trailer are anything to go by.

Curious too as to 'how much' FOBs multiply your GMP/material gain outside of the autonomous slow acquiring.

If Mother Base is anything like the codec calls of old there will be a lot of stuff to miss, until you buy the guide.

You make your own bases for others to infiltrate. Like a varying MGS2 map without thousands of possibilities for how elements can differ, and how guards can be placed/equipped. All with the possibility of having to face down a real player boss. Then you can infiltrate the bases of others.

It's true Metal Gear Solid multiplayer, perhaps even truer than Metal Gear Online. Pure infiltration in bases designed by other players to stop you.

It easily has the potential to be dozens of hours of fun just by itself. Hundreds of hours for the enthusiasts.

Grab the 960 plus you'd get TPP free with it

Thanks all!

I saw that TPP was being bundled with NVIDIA cards but my concern was that my CPU would hamstring performance. Is this a legitimate concern?

I was eyeballing the hell out of the 900 series cards back when the Witcher 3 came out. In my mind, I would really want to upgrade the CPU as well to make the high vid card worthwhile. I ended up just getting Witcher on PS4 by the way (no regrats).

Just watched the gameplay. Really like the Mother Base concept and the whole Multiplayer part of it. It sure will be a fantastic game.

It'll be tough to knock Bloodborne out of the GOTY place for me, but if any game is going to do it then it'll be this one. The wait feels too long!

No on ever gives Portable Ops the props it deserves for being the first introduce NPC recruits/captures.

Who knew they would take the idea this far...

Not for The Phantom Pain, I don't think.

Ground Zeroes was pretty well optimised, and this is a game designed to run even on last-gen hardware (PS3/360). The CPU demands will likely be quite tame, and your CPU should be sufficient. For example GTA V, similarly, handles itself well with an i5-2500k. Most of the bottleneck would come from your current graphics card.

Your GPU seems to be the element holding your system back from achieving solid performance.

Good concept but the execution was botched so hard. Dragging soldiers to boxes got annoying after the first guy.

Nope I won't watch the trailer, the game is so close! I have been on the fence for a while trying to decide if I was going to get this on release day or just wait but I might just take a dive.

Thank you, good sir! That's all good to know.

Unfortunately I still have the decision of PS4 or PC!

Little more on topic:

If they can pull everything together like they intend, this will be mind blowing. IF they can pull it off. I love the idea of snagging an AA canon, for example, while on mission and being able to use it back at my FOB.

I kinda just skipped around in this. Wanna go in as fresh as possible, but I had to look.

So about the FOB stuff. Is it possible for a player to infiltrate and never be seen?

This fucking game. If the story is even remotely close to being as good as in MGS3, this will be one for the history books, seriously.

I think the defender will always get the notification but I can't see why you wouldn't be able to ghost it.

The amount of content and depth in Mother Base is extraordinary. I kept shaking my head in disbelief throughout the video - it's insane. As a solo player, I'll likely be skipping the FOB stuff, but its inclusion is really impressive.

We obviously still don't know how everything will come together in the final product, but I wonder if we'll ever see a game quite like this ever again.

Yep. People don't believe me when I tell them MGSV will be the greatest game ever made, but I have no doubt it will.

I can see the invasion/defense part of the game being almost as popular as the sp mission portion of the game. I could watch video after video of a good invasion/defense attempts. Fantastic video here.

And that's not even everything. There's still MGO! provided it doesn't suck of course.

This demo was packed. I really enjoyed it. At first, I thought it was boring, but I believe I am going to have fun with it. Also, loved those cool details; Ocelot telling BB he stinks and Kaz getting pissed off and butthurt.

Just watched it all again and man. So much you can do and that's available to you. Can literally spends 10's of hours on your base alone.

When I finally unlock the FOB just trying to equip it with good security will take time. I really can't wait for this game.

Reminds me of Watchdogs MP, which I was the king of. Supremely looking forward to this mode. Doubt I'll even finish the story for the first month or so.
