His name is Master McDonnell Benedict 'Kazuhira' Miller. Kojima gives him an extra name with every game.
Hahaha!

I also have midrange PC, so I'm fully aiming at PS4 version [GZ was perfect 1080p60, zero frames dropped in Digital Foundry test].
Make sure to thank us later.
There was so much to take in I had to watch it a couple more times and while the concept and game itself blows me away, I agree with you 100% on the timers. That looks like the opposite of fun because you know damn well that is where the microtransactions are going to come into play. That is why it is designed this way.
Peace Walker was designed the same way and didn't have microtransactions. The game didn't tell you how long the build times were going to be (you could just check the progression), but it worked in a similar way because things would progress more after a long mission than after a short one.
Some upgrades definitely took longer than 2 hours to unlock.
Do I need to play GZ first?
About the free-to-play timers, Peace Walker's design was similar, but instead it had progress bars that filled up as you completed missions (story or side). In the early stages you might be able to unlock Level 2 of a Stun Grenade or something after just one mission. As you got to the more advanced stuff, things got pretty ridiculous; 20 to 30 missions to craft a single thing.
MGSV seems to have moved to a purely time-based system, though it remains to be seen whether it's real time or in-game time. Real time is a pretty safe guess, though, considering they're attaching microtransactions to it this time; if you could just skip crafting times with the Phantom Cigar there'd be no reason to open your wallet for Konami.
I think it's a pretty shitty way of designing a game, personally. I really can't see it as anything but a way of wasting the player's time. You put effort into finding soldiers, Fultoning them, organizing them into teams at your personally-designed home base - I think that's all fantastic. But then grinding out missions in PW, or sitting through timers in TPP... why? Why not just let you craft things instantly as long as you have the required R&D level and GMP? It's not like the game doesn't take liberties with real-life logistics elsewhere. This is just going to lead to me leaving my PS4 on for hours at a time when I'm not playing the game.

Do you guys have any 80's songs y'all wanna hear in the game?
Hype!
The development time make me a bit worried though...
lol wat more development time makes you worried why...
konami probably wanted it to laucnh in june but kojima wanted more polish. id say that last few months has just been insane qa and bug fixes...
I think it'll be in-game time and you will be able to fast forward with the cigar but the money to purchase items is where the microtransactions come in so it'll probably be hard to come by in-game.
Is there any PS3 version footage out there? Game looks amazong btw
I can't believe taking a shower is a serious mechanic in this game. It's ridiculous and cool at the same time.
If it turns out this way, then I will stop playing the game cold. It will be an otherwise incredible game ruined by an insidious free to play system that has no business being in a full retail title. Especially one of this magnitude.

I think s/he means ingame, creating platforms and so on.
Part of me hopes "Haddaway - What is love" is in the game. Pull up to the battlefield and MB just jamming away.

Straight-up not purchasing the game if that's the case. I sincerely hope it's not because that would be terrible. If it turns out this way, then I will stop playing the game cold. In the video he talks about how none of this needs to be played. If you want to have an offline single player experience, it will deliver one. You don't have to do any of this stuff if you don't want to.So... am I the only one who doesn't find any appeal on Mother Base or Multiplayer? I just want a good stealth/spy game, not a mix of everything slapped together with dumb parachutes that can take a car to my base. Lol wtf. let's parachute everything to mother base! Sorry to say but Metal Gear has jumped the shark for me. Too bad PT got cancelled because at this point I think Kojima's talents would be better used in a horror game than this.

You don't have to do any Forward Operating Base stuff, but Mother Base is non-optional. There's a JeuxVideo article where the writer (who had five days with the game) makes it clear that you're going to hit walls later in the game if you don't have the necessary R&D level to craft certain required things.
GOTY voting this year will be intense as hell.GOTY?!
GOTY.
Am wondering if the FOB system is cross-platform MP.
I thought that was to craft certain weapons and stuff and that it is unecessary for completion of the game. You don't have to do any Forward Operating Base stuff, but Mother Base is non-optional. One of those build timers was upwards of 2 hours, thats getting into really bs territory.

Yeah, the ingame one. I've seen that creating revolver takes around 18 minutes, and that probably a low level weapon

FTFYAw yeah. MGS-GAF, it appears we can form a coalition of "Deterrence".
I dont know guys I'm a fan of Metal Gear since Metal Gear Solid on PS1 and I have seen a lot of crazy things (and tech) in MGS and it all was a perfect match. It seemd crazy but I was able to accept it.
With MGS5 I just feel that everything is over the top. Everything Kojima does, he does it perfectly (even lil details) but when it comes to this I have my doubts. It just feels out of place, a lot of things. It just doesn't fit the time
Like I said before this Metal Gear doesn't feel like a MGS game, it has lost that feeling that MGS1, 2 and 3 had. It starts to remind me of Resident Evil where the series was completly changed and we got an Third Person Shoorter (5 and 6)
I still think this is Resident Evil 4 for the MGS universe but a lot of has changed and not for the best. Im hyped for it but nowhere near the level of hype like MGS 2,3 and 4 and that is sad because this is the last Metal Gear from mr. Kojima-San.
INB all the haters, this is my opinion
