One thing that you didn't notice:
They didn't really awake in an alternate world without mysteries, but in the world that the original Scooby Doo series takes place in before they head out on their adventure.
I want this Scooby gang.
Mystery Incorporated is probably my favorite western animated tv show in existence. It's a shame about the new series.
I also now feel a strong urge to write a gritty, dark and gory detective novel starring a bunch of teenagers trying to solve mysteries.

I actually thought
they woke up in the original 1960's cartoon universe but with knowledge of the prior universe as well. They hinted at this when they all decided since they were the only people who had lived through the terrors of the mystery inc universe they should just hop into the mystery machine and travel around America looking for mysteries. It was kind of dark ending because even though everyone who had died was now alive & happy the gang had no memories of these people so they all felt like strangers.
All in All Mystery Inc was the best love letter to the who Scooby Universe I've ever seen.

I came into this topic expecting silly responses, and I come out of it having a massive need to watch Mystery Inc...
You guys finally convinced me to start Mystery Inc. a few hours ago on Netflix. This show is actually really good, surprised I haven't heard of it sooner.
I would recommend trying out a few episodes on Netflix. The characterizations can be a little strange and off-putting but they all feel like natural progression for the Gang as a whole.

Not just the newer ones, there were other spin offs back in the day that already had real ghosts.

Watched a bit- the style and animation really catch me, and I look forward to seeing how they handle the characterizations though so far I get what you mean by strange and off-putting.
This is really cool, I never expected to be watching some good Scooby Doo since my childhood ;_;
The first few episodes of Mysteries Incorporated are kind of bad, which I say as a fan of the series. It just wasn't very sure of itself yet. But the series improves a lot by the second half of the first season, and then it's great for the rest of the ride. It wears its Lovecraft influence on its sleeve, even prominently featuring a "Professor Hatecraft", author of books like Char'gar Gothakon: The Beast that hath No Name. Plus it has Patrick Warburton as the sheriff.

Daphne and Velma pretty much cover all bases, to be fair. I am a huge Velma fan, but she got kind of annoying at first in the Mystery Inc. series, making a man choose between herself and a dog is mean.
And hilarious.

The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show is the first that I can remember. Had an episode with an actual witch in (checking the wiki it was called "Swamp Witch" and aired in 1980). Blew my mind as a kid as I wasn't used to actual ghosts.
Then there was Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School which was awesome

I liked their darker reinterpretation in Venture Bros. Not-scooby was hilarious.

Its on Netflix and very good.
+ multiple serious overarching mysteries and foreshadowing
+ quality original characters
+ legitimate twist moments

Scoobs and Fred. I feel like Fred and Scooby never hung out and if they did the audience would realise that Shaggy is empirically useless. He is the human Jar-Jar Binks.
